We are new to the area and decided to try Zakura for a family dinner. It was fabulous. It is lovely inside, the service was excellent and the food was exceptional. This will definitely be our new sushi restaurant.

Really not that good. Weird combination of sushi and French cruise. The sashimi was not fresh at all. I can taste a little bit sour. The service was just okay. Consider the food quality I would never come back again.

First visit here and we were very pleased with the service/menu/hospitality. It was the previous site of Hunter steakhouse, so the furniture, seating, décor and color scheme remains the same. They have a sushi bar and the sushi chef, Bruce Lee, made all our food taste great. Sushi rolls that were on the happy hour menu were loaded with flavor and the rolls looked like regular servings vs happy hour portions, which tend to be smaller. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming. My favorite was the crazy spicy tuna rolls($ 7.00 happy hour) with heaping amounts of tuna. I also ordered beef udon noodle soup and it was soothing after nursing a head cold all weekend. Awesome food experience and excellent prices.

Fresh rolls; very different and creative(even the names). VERY fresh! Knowledgeable server and not cramped on a Saturday night like most other spots. Awesome experience!

The first time we went there was on Sunday, 05÷17÷15, evening after dealing with the crowds at an Anaheim based theme park. We were very surprised that this place was even open on a Sunday evening when all others were closed. This place is were Hunters Steak House use to be. Even though we miss the steak house, we are extremely happy that this place is here. The food is phenomenal, we highly recommend the Spider roll, Spicy tuna roll and the shasimi salad. Bruce our Sushi chef was equally phenomenal and friendly. We came back again on Tuesday, 05/19/2015, for round two. Even though we had to ask three times for more Wasabi the food and dining experience was still phenomenal. Good job and we’ll done Bruce… we will definitely be back.

Just a bad dining experience. Food was less than mediocre, and we got the drinks, appetizer and main course at the same time. When I go out for dinner on a Saturday night I want to enjoy the experience. We were in and out in about 45 minutes. And the food is WAY over priced! Also, we saw the female bartender brush her hair behind the bar! Grossed us out!

What a find! The food is great. Nice big spot with a large sushi bar. Our fave was the hirame usuzukuri(halibut carpaccio).

I have been here 4 times now. There’s only one good thing about this place and it’s the garlic truffle edamame. That being said, sushi is so so. I’ve had better sushi and other places nearby. I also tasted the Philly Spring Rolls. It tastes like salty meat. It had no flavor whatsoever. Other sides we just as unsatisfying. I would NOT go back. If I want sushi, I’ll be heading down the street to a legitimate sushi joint.

So this was my second time coming here. The first time it was pretty good. Although I didn’t write a review for that visit I would have given them 4.5 stars. Today was a different story. So we got seated in the bar section(not the sushi bar, but the regular bar). Our waiter was marginal at best. Our drinks were rarely refilled unless we asked for it. And he never came by to check on us. In terms of the food, the sushi was ok. A couple of the members of our party ordered the beef teriyaki because it was really good the last time we came. Today, the quality significantly declined and portion of the beef was about ½ of what it was last time. The worst part about it was they were charging $ 21 for the beef teriyaki. Total rip off this visit(Last time by the way it was totally worth it.) Overall I don’t think I am coming back.

Food was delicious. We sat at sushi bar and had rolls and sashimi. Everything was really fresh and had some unique flavors. The Hamachi Truffle Peppercorn sashimi, Truffle garlic edamame and wild lotus roll were the standouts! If you are looking for quite and small restaurant though, this is not that place. It is a big restaurant with big screens TV’s but still an enjoyable atmosphere.

We ate here the day after Christmas. The drinks from the bar took too long and the mojito was terrible. we were halfway through appetizers when we got our drinks. The crab cake appetizer and special rolls we had including the citrus tuna, earthquake and volcano were 5 stars as well as the ambiance. The miso soup was so so. We will be back for the sushi but not the service.

Awesome place. The service is great, the food is out of this world and the owners are very kind. Try the Chilean Seabass or the Garlic /Truffle edename. Good mix of a lounge ambiance on one side of the restaurant or family style and a little quieter on the other side. Coming back for sure!

Ate here for the first time this past week. We ordered the Uni, several sushi rolls, sashimi, and the Chilean Sea Bass. First of all, the Uni was the freshest I have had in the States(not to mention enormous). The Sashimi was well proportioned and the fish was fresh and tender. Since they order fish daily, the quality may very based on what the suppliers have available(thus the poor prior reviews). The star of the show however was the Chilean Sea Bass served with taro purée. This is a must-try! Some other notes: being from the east coast, I was familiar with the chefs at this restaurant. The head sushi chef worked at Morimoto previously and was in charge of training the sushi chefs there, so experience certainly is not lacking. Executive Chef Sylla was the Exec Chef at Georges Pierre’s famed Michelin Star Le Bec Fin in Philadelphia. Long story short, there is definitely some fire power in the kitchen. This place is a must-try!

Zakura is right down the street so we decided to try it for the first time on a thursday evening. The restaurant is large, the bar is long with 3 tv’s, and the sushi bar has lots of room. The sake menu has several offerings at different price points. Service was attentive. The sushi was super fresh, and definitely a cut above the norm. Chef Richard adds special touches like citrus or truffle oil or basil pesto that subtly augments the flavors. Didnt try anything from the kitchen but there were some great selections. We are definitely going to return since we enjoy sushi that is way above the average.

Top quality sushi and ingredients. Had the live scallops, live clams, oysters, two hand rolls and sashimi octopus. The staff is friendly and everyone is trying to make a good impression. They are still new(open 2 weeks) and working out some kinks and that is the reason for the for 4 stars. We didn’t try the entrees or small plates this review is based on the sushi only. We will come back.

Someone had mentioned this restaurant on Unilocal talk. When I checked it out, turned out to be close to home so we decided to check it out. It’s decorated well with beautiful lighting and flowers everywhere. There are two bars. One for alcohol with TV’s and the sushi bar. There are also booths and tables on the right side of the restaurant. The lighting and feel of the place is kind of Zen which I like. But that got me confused that the music playing overhead was instrumental metal guitar. Perhaps because the restaurant was more on the empty side(10 – 15 people total), the music really stood out to me and it didn’t fit the atmosphere. Our waitress, Jules was awesome! She was super friendly and helpful. We ordered… Salmon Sashimi Belly — Pretty good but parts of it were frozen Yellow tale sashimi — good but not great Bella Cucina Roll — Tasty but could have been better with the Ponzu sauce on the side for dipping. The sogginess made the rice fall off the roll as we were eating. Miso soup — pretty good Turns out they will be having the grand opening in September. At this point they are working out the kinks. The sushi/sashimi took long to get to us because there was only one person preparing the food. The other two guys were actually learning from him. I can see that there’s great potential here. Loved the attitude of the man running the place. Very elegant and polite. I look forward to coming back in about a month when I’m back in town. Typically, based on food, I would have given this restaurant 3 stars. I gave it 4 for our waitress and the rest of the staff who were pleasant and helpful. Best of luck to this restaurant and hope my next review will turn into 5 stars :-)
