Great atmosphere and the food was good as well. Its certainly not for those who watch what they eat though! The fried pickes and mushrooms as a side were a great choice. The portions were large. Parking can be a bit tricky, but overall worth it. I will definitely be back.

If you care about the food you put in your body, don’t even think about this place. If you are ready for that gut buster, feel it in your arteries this is your place. The owner loves Jamison which is awesome. Don’t ask for ketchup if anyone at your table has a hotdog. The whole place is a little rough around the edges.

Chicago Sports Bar in Lafayette… Winning! This is a great place to watch any sports game. This is a great place for a drink with friends. The décor always reminds me of where I grew up(Northwest IN — the Chicago region. The part of IN even Unilocal includes in the Chicago Burbs region). I am sure the owner has lived in Lafayette for years because the old location was more of a dive — but still had the same amazing food and drinks are great too! The new location is absolutely something I can call a sports bar and it’s incredible. Everything around you is Chicago Sports stuff inside. If you are a Chicago Sports Teams fan THIS is where you want to go when in Lafayette, IN! This is one of the very few places in Lafayette that you can get food late night and it’s absolutely delicious. The menu is full of delicious GIANT burgers and Chicago Style Hot Dogs that are loaded up with just about anything besides ketchup and mustard. The menu used to read, no ketchup for hot dogs allowed… Which is hilarious but on those hot dogs you won’t need any. They are so creative and loaded up. Instead of French Fries they bake their own potatoes into chips. It’s so good! I am over soggy fries everywhere I go… DT’s seriously always has hot, fresh, filling, & delicious food. Why do I love DT Kirby’s? Let me count the ways! The atmosphere, Chicago décor, the huge juicy burgers, the amazing creative hot dogs, the price is great, late night kitchen in a small town, the portions are huge, the location and openness is welcoming, the drinks are good too(order a shot of Jameson there… I hear incredible things can happen — you are welcome!) Tip: check out the port-a-potties in the back of the bar! GOTCHA! The owner is hilarious. You walk through what into what looks like a men’s and women’s port-a-potty in the back of the bar but really they serve as a hallway to an actual restroom — which is always clean may I add. So funny, creative, and unique. Why be a place to blend in when you can stand out? This is by all means another of the hidden gems in this town. I absolutely recommend this place and wouldn’t pass it by if you have the chance to check it out! I always have a fun time here! Cheers and enjoy! P. S. My pictures on the website are apparently from two years ago and don’t seem to be linking to my review. But, check out the awesomeness!

Pretty great food; but it’s really sloppy, which I don’t like. I also dislike the ‘no forks/no knives’ rule– don’t make a sandwich 12″ tall if we can’t use tools & cutlery on it. Take it to go unless you want to wear it(well, maybe that’s advice just for me, I’m such a slob!!)

This is a Lafayette favorite. The vibe is amazing there, especially for Chicago sports fans. As a Packers fan, myself, I cringe slightly but my husband is a huge Cubs fan(I am too, but because of him) so it is his favorite in town. Period. We enjoy sitting at the bar & sometimes you’ll get a free shot your way! I recommend the Smarties & Lemon Drops! As for the food, you won’t leave hungry. The portions are huge, more than I can eat in a meal, but you get your moneys worth. I love their fried mushrooms/pickles, but the star of the show is their Artichoke dip. It is better than any bar food dip should be. I get it EVERY time we go there. It feels wrong not to. They have a ton of specialty hot dogs(remember…Chicago theme) and plenty of other options. My favorite is Trisha’s Pita Sandwich – grilled chicken, lettuce, avocado, tzatziki sauce, and feta wrapped in a garlic pita. So good. My husband normally gets one of their hot dogs or burgers, but they always look so good. You probably won’t eat anything here that is «healthy» but calories don’t count in bars anyway.

Great location and crowd on a Thursday night. Parking can be an issue but be patient and try to arrive early. Great draft beer selections and hard stuff. Chose the spicy chicken sandi, which is two chicken breasts on a bun with sauce, bacon and lettuce. One of the better chicken sandis I’ve had in quite a while. Can’t wait to get back here!

A Lafayette institution and my go to for visitors. With rules like no knives for burgers and no mixing Jameson, along with the porta potty doors to the bathrooms what’s not to love. The special sauce goes with everything, including all of their crazy creations. Sit at the bar and Raoul will keep you entertained and help you order if you’re undecided. It’s near a lot of other places if you’re looking to walk to another bar after.

Have enjoyed multiple games of the NLDS and the Wild Card game downtown at DT Kirbys and it has been busy, but service was pleasant, quick and the food, as always. perfect! UPDATE: Stopped in the other day and the service was friendly and my awesomely large burger came out quickly!!! Cold beer, lots of tvs. Still a great place!

Great experience! Most notable was that the bar owner actually visited our table(twice) to welcome us, share the history of the bar and food, and just make sure we were enjoying our experience. The food was very good and the waitress was very friendly. The only downside was the speed of food delivery. We had 9 at our table, and we were in no hurry, but if we were needing to eat quickly, we might have been disappointed. We will definitely return when back in the area.

Check your credit card statement after visiting here. I and many of my friends have been double charged, even on different visits. It may be an honest mistake or a glitch with their system, but the issue is that even once we have notified them, they say they will fix it and never do. I was double charged November 29th, it’s now December 29th and I have notified them 4 times. Some of my friends were earlier in November and have still not been reimbursed. I have heard multiple explanations, but each time we are told it will be fixed within 2 days and they take all of our information only for there to be no correction. I can only imagine there are many others who have not noticed the double charge and Kirby’s apparently has no plans to ever correct it, unless you are adamant that you want your money back. We actually used to like this place. As far as the food goes, it’s pretty darn good, greasy food that you can get late, as the kitchen stays open until 3. The service has gone down hill over the years, but it’s not a bad place to hang out overall and catch some sports. Will give it 3* when they fix the charge, but will hesitate to go again unless using cash. Update: They never corrected the charge. The owner told me that he couldn’t find either of the charges, even after I provided him with records. He suggested that I contact my CC company and have them void the charge, which had long been processed. Therefore the rating will stand at 1* and I will not be returning.

Love this dive bar and the friendly people working here. Don’t bother coming here if you’re dieting or are super health conscious. Food is creative, messy and great for a hangover!

Best Dive bar around Purdue. If I had to describe the food at this place in a few words, it will be «Heart Attack Food». This place has never disappointed me but if you’re health conscious, this is not your place to be. Everything is greasy and delicious. Don’t be fooled by the outside look of the restaurant, it looks like a theater. Parking is usually hard to find around here so be prepared for that. Most of the times you have to wait to be seated. Everything I have tried here has never failed my expectations. From hotdogs to burgers, everything is delicious. If you like Mac N Cheese in your burger, definitely try the Mac N nap burger. I can’t choose a favorite entrée but my favorite side is the fried mushrooms and fried pickle. It’s a couple bucks extra if you choose these sides instead of the regular home made chips, which are free with almost every entrée. The owner of this place is awesome. I came in for my Birthday Dinner and he gave me a free shot of Jameson and took one with me. He did the same with my friend on her graduation. The service is average, which takes one star away from the five stars. I haven’t ever had great service experience here but it wasn’t bad either. I have never had good luck finding a table for a big party size. The prices are reasonable for the portion size you get. Also, under 21 people are welcomed here to eat.

NOMOREBRUNCH. NOMOREFREAKIN’ BRUNCH. I’m mad, because breakfast was the one reason I was keeping Kirby’s as a five-star spot. Kudos to the sweet waitress who realized we looked a little shabby for an 11 a.m. lunch and let us know before ordering drinks that breakfast was officially of the table. No location will be as good as the original in all of it’s un-air conditioned glory. What that location had in spunk and great service by the one and only Don, the new spot has in old-but-new décor and about a million more seats. Even though Don isn’t taking every order in the place any more, he’s typically around to genuinely welcome you to the place — and it keeps me coming back. The food is great. Sloppy, greasy, and delicious. I recommend coming here after running at least 5 miles, or consuming copious amounts of alcohol the night before — or both. The service has been hit or miss, but if you have time to spare and want the best burger in Lafayette, look no farther than this gem.

Kirby has a kick as selection of sloppy, wipe your mouth cardiac arrest food for those who love different out of the normal twists on food! The burgers here are bad ass good and crazy! The hot dogs are huge and twisted as well! The blt is enormous with thick slices of bacon on a huge ass roll! I highly recommend this! I’ll always stop on back here, and yes the Porta potty is actually a walk in restroom!

I love this place! I just moved to Lafayette after living in the Region my while life and DT Kirby’s captures the essence of a Chicago bar. It’s a great place to watch any sports game(especially the Hawks) and the burgers are one of a kind in Lafayette. Things to try: Mac n Nap burger Bacon n egg burger Cuban sandwich

As far as sports bars go, DT Kirby’s attempts to emulate the feel of something out of Chicago, down to a sign on the wall that warns you against putting ketchup on hot dogs, mixing Jameson, and something else I’ve completely forgotten. The foodie elitism was certainly attractive to the one native Chicagan in the group, but there was definitely some hostility in the sense that everything I’d heard suggests they enforce these«Chicago rules». Whatever. I ordered the grilled cheese burger, which was a ridiculous amount of heart-stopping food but far too delicious for its own good. Fortunately I didn’t order a hot dog, or else I might have been kicked out.

We came with a large group on a Saturday night. It took forever to get a table, but once we did, the service was actually good. Food took a bit of time to come out, but HUGE portions. Burger was great. Everyone loved their food. Next time I visit Purdue, I will most likely visit this place again.

I’m in love with DT Kirby’s! My friends and I came here after the Boilermaker Half Marathon and filled up on so many delicious foods and drinks! The fried pickles were very good and the fried mushrooms were awesome! I like that they slice them and fry them instead of leaving them whole like most places do. I had the Veggie Reuban and it was one of the best that I have had. Everyone I was with had nothing but great things to say about the food, drinks, and service.

Sometimes, I wish I lived in Lafayette. If I did, my sister and I would totally be going to this place all the time. Thanks to her love of this place [see Kristen W.], I got to try this out. Know that when this place is busy, food is going to take a while so be sure to drink lots of beer while you wait. The owner was actually going around and thanking everyone for their patience and he is hilarious. Just trust me on this one and come see it for yourself. Also, if you do nothing else with this business, you should at least read the menu! Seriously. It is online and it is just as hilarious as the owner. A few of my favorites? The owner admitting half of the menu doesn’t make sense and the random pricing. I got the bacon egg burger and chips and it was all very good, filling and not healthy at all but soooo goood. I tried a few of my husband’s fries(which are different than normal fries and come with a dipping sauce) and they were tasty and I will probably get those next time. The menu is very extensive so that is another reason I should live closer. So I can try more. Yes. As others have said, the bathrooms are hilarious and I wonder how many people avoid them if they don’t know. Here’s a tip, they are perfectly nice for a dive bar inside.
