Slow services, it take them 35 minutes to get food out. It is a bit slow for today. Servers don’t seems like she cares or check on us.

This is the one thing that will keep me coming back to Indiana. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is an interesting place. It’s part store with random Southern-esque knickknacks part restaurant with rich, country food. Look at the menu and you’ll definitely be intimidated. However, eat to your delight. I have had a variety of items on the menu, and I can only say positive things about just about anything. From the country fried steak to the dumplins to the veggies, everything is rich and delicious. It’s just good ol’ comfort food, and it gets the job done very well. When you think of comfort food, you often think of unhealthy, greasy food. That’s not the case with Cracker Barrel. Everything feels rather lean, and no matter how big a plate you devour, you only leave with a sense of satisfaction, no bloating whatsoever. I await the next time I have the opportunity to come back to Indiana and indulge in a little bit of this Southern piece of heaven. TIP: Everything is good.

My first time here and I loved it. The service is great and the food is delicious. Elaine was our waitress and she’s a sweetheart.

I thought going on a Wednesday morning would make for a great experience — not too busy. I received the worst service I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I’m not sure who my server was as I was served by 4+ different people. I had to ask for every refill I got(was NEVER offered.) One of the women walked away while I was talking to her. When the food finally got to me it was cold. My turkey bacon tasted like pork and was very greasy. I could tell it was cooked right next to pork. Worst experience I’ve ever had here.

Well I’ve never been a fan of Cracker Barrel. Nothing about the company has every struck me as outstanding. Unfortunately this experience in not any different. My family and I were on the way back from Florida to Illinois and we stopped in to eat some dinner and take a break form driving I-65. We walked in and were greeted to rude locals, the host was a lanky punk teen who did not speak a word to us, nothing like: «Hi, welcome to Cracker Barrel, how many are you?» nothing. He seemed annoyed to be there. the waitress was not much better. She was nicer but did not state her name, did not greet us, and was not concerned with us during our visit. The food at Cracker Barrel has never been my favorite and this was, again, no different. the food was bland, cold, poorly prepared and did not come out all at the same time. I am very disappointed. but with this restaurant it is expected. This is very typical.

Sat there for 15 minutes and we were completely ignored so we left. Disappointed because we were looking forward to their comfort food. We won’t try it again for a long time.

My family and I were seated by the hostess… 30min later(it was not busy) my mom had to flag a waitress over to get help. I was ready to walk out the door! We had to drinks no help for 30min. Staff members walked past our table… Tables around us got cleaned… Nothing. Then our waitress didn’t even offer a good excuse why we had to wait so long. When I asked about her excuse it was a oh well attitude. When I got the bill($ 70) later she didn’t even give a discount for drinks or deserts. No manager was offered to us and even the girl at the front when she asked about our visit and I told her what happened. All I got was«oh». So I left unhappy with the service. If you want good food I recommend Cracker Barrel! If you want good service I suggest you try a different Cracker Barrel!

With Cracker Barrel, there are no mysteries. Cracker Barrel knows its role, and it does it well. Stopped by with some friends on a Saturday morning, and had the best breakfast I’ve had in awhile. I ordered the country boy breakfast, and it was fantastic. A good-sized sirloin steak, which was a perfect medium. 3 eggs over easy(perfectly cooked). Unlimited biscuits and gravy. Unlimited hash brown casserole. Unlimited baked apples. Unlimited grits. It seemed like the only thing with a limit was how much I could eat! All this, and the meal was only $ 10. Everything was fresh and tasty. It was like they had a little old lady in the back making special breakfasts. I wish I had a breakfast like this every day.

Cracker Barrel is my travel restaurant. I don’t eat at it except when I am on vacation. So I always enjoy it when we go. It is a ton of food for reasonable price. Service is good. I personally love their biscuits. It is a nice family, low key atmosphere. There are always lots of kids and remember no booze(apparently it doesn’t fit their image).

Cracker Barrel’s are always good and always look the same. It’s an old country store that no one ever buys anything at, and really good old style food. I almost always get the country fried steak here and it’s always awesome. The gravy is good(although they didn’t put a ton on it), the fries were excellent, and I thought the biscuits and pinto beans were great. Service was good. As always, I wanted a beer with my huge dinner but they don’t serve it here. There goes their star :)

I’m not a huge fan of Cracker Barrel, but my wife and kids enjoy it. The food was average but the service here was fantastic. Usually the food and service at this chain is nothing to speak of, but our waitress was great. If I was passing through town I would probably try this location again.

We get to go orders from Cracker Barrel at least once if not twice a week. Tonight I ordered at 7PM. One breakfast meal and chicken n dumplings. They were our of chicken n dumplings but didn’t tell me until I was there 20 min later. How are you out of your signature meal at 7PM. The girl claimed she tried to call back but that was not the case. About 80% of the time we order they get our order wrong or are out of something. We won’t be giving any more of our money to your business. Why would we?

Ask for Karla(or Shawn) if you want five star service, even though they only go up to 4 stars on their apron. To those other reviewers who say it is average comfort food, I ask compared to what? Grandma’s cooking? If on the other hand you are fairly comparing this to other Cracker Barrel restaurants then this merits a 5 especially if you get a great server. The two I mentioned above always keep my ice tea full, which is one of my biggest requests. They bring extra napkins, check back with me the appropriate number of times and always have service with a smile. If you’re on a schedule you can learn which menu items are a «dip meal» meaning they’re cooked and waiting for you(but fresh and tasty). I get the roast beef and mashed potatoes, green beans and cole slaw. I rarely wait 10 minutes to get my food.

I hit this same Cracker Barrel every year while driving with a friend from Chicago to Indy while heading to a large convention. If you’ve never been to Cracker Barrel before, it is decent southern style food at a reasonable price. Keep in mind that it is a national chain. This location is always clean, the staff is always friendly, and the food is always what I’d expect.

It’s a Cracker Barrel in Layfaytte, Indiana, right off i-65. I wasn’t expecting world class food or service but I was expecting my food to come out hot, not just lukewarm. We were here on a Sunday morning around 10 am and the place was packed. The only reason why I gave them 2 stars was because they sat us immediately, which was good because we still had a 4 hour drive to go before we made it home. The sweet tea isn’t made with sugar anymore, it’s made with Equal(gah!) which completely ruined my experience. I’m not going to go into much more detail with this place other than you need to a hazmat suit to go into the bathroom. I’m pretty sure the gas station bathroom was cleaner than this one.

Nothing special about this place; just decent comfort food like at any of their other locations.

Where have you been all my life Cracker Barrel? Yummy fluffy pancakes, great prices, and the coolest store ever! I came here with a party of 9; some who were super excited to come here — and some who weren’t. I was excited to try something new, and I loved the theme of this place. Chill, country, and family-style. Breakfast was on the menu; as lunch does not start until 11. I went with the pancake meal which came with syrup in cute little individual bottles(one made it into my purse.. . shhhhh!). Tyler had biscuits and gravy, and the rest of the table had a plethora of hashbrowns, sausages, and grits. Service was good — she handled our party of 9 well. Including a super cute but super picky little 2 year old and someone spilling ice tea everywhere. The gift shop is another section by itself. They had the coolest halloween eyeball salt and pepper shakers. $ 1.29 each! So cool! There was a variety of awesome knick-knacks that I didn’t need but definitely wanted and staff were informative and kind.

After many good visits here every time we head south on I-65, this stop was a bit disappointing. Aside from the usual heart-stopping food(that’s a good thing), the service was sloppy this time — no one to seat us at 1 pm, until a waitress noticed us, and then somewhat sullen service. Not one of the best of the chain.

Cracker Barrel was always my mom’s favorite place to eat and many times I went here. I think the food at cracker barrel is very good. The sampler breakfast platter is a big meal with lots of meat, eggs, biscuits and gravy, and grits. I go mostly for their breakfast food but I will admit to liking their meat loaf dinner pretty well too. I don’t see how the one reviewer can rate them as being«vegetarian unfriendly» They do not advertise being a vegetarian place. If they were I certainly wouldn’t go there… vegetarians… LOL… I have probably ate at this location at least 50 times in my life and I am sure there will be a few more as well…

I dropped by here for some Southern comfort food and was disappointed. I had one of their lunch specials for ~$ 8, so pretty reasonably priced. I had their meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, and biscuit. The food was decent but barely lukewarm when it was served to me. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant so they were definitely not too busy to make sure my food had at least the appearance of being fresh out of the oven. The service was pretty good, though. My waitress gave me a cup of coffee to go, which was nice. I like Cracker Barrel as a chain, but this particular site just doesn’t cut it.
