I’m going to gush here y’all. Recently, while in Lafayette, I was in a car accident. I won’t go into too many details but it was bad. It happened right in front of this place. I pulled my car in because the lady who owns the place walked out and waved us in. I had my seven year old little girl with me and when we were hit it was on her side. She was obviously devastated. She was screaming and crying and I was shaking. The woman who owns this store comes out, hugs us, ushers us into her store and gave my daughter a water bottle and called the police for me. Her husband asked if we wanted him to cook us anything. We didn’t :) My vehicle was not drive-able so we had to stay the night, which lucky for us… we have family in the area. I don’t remember their names but as they were closing up their store and going home the police and tow truck were still there and she simply said to me as I apologized for my car still being there said«you can leave your car here as long as you need to, baby» Just when you’ve sort of lost your faith in humanity the kindness of strangers will make you believe otherwise.

This place has been a staple in the Freetown neighborhood of Lafayette for a very long time. They have been serving plate lunches and burgers to college students and those that live in the area for a long time. I picked a fully dressed homemade burger from them today for $ 3.00. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was a really good burger.
