Love their sushi and fried rice! Moved away and whenever we come to Lacey we always make sure to stop in!

Delicious food, nice staff, is it the best teriyaki no, but they are one of the few restaurants in the area that are open on Sundays. The prices are perfect and love ordering hot chicken w/gyoza or yakisoba noodles. Stop in and leave satisfied.

This location is very good. Nice staff. Fast service and decent location. Food was good, usually get the teriyaki chicken and tempura veggies as an appetizer. Wish they gave more rice and veggies!

Sundays almost always demand take away to complete the last relaxing day before the hectic week begins, but what a mistake this was. All other teriyaki joints are closed that are close by but this one, thinking they were all the same I called in an ordered of pork teriyaki to go and picked up when the time came to pass. The teriyaki sauce was okay, not terrible but nothing to rave about. The pork teriyaki was dry and burnt, not what one would expect with pork teriyaki but I was ravenous so I didn’t mind– too much. Rice was crunchy and had a odd taste to it. An hour passed and I felt off, two hours and I knew something wasn’t right. At the three hour mark I’ve been vomiting, shaking, and… well you know. It’s been 30 hours since I’ve ate and I think I’m going to live, but maybe it’s too early to tell?

I lived in lacey for 8 years and this is THE Best teriyaki in town. Good char grilled flavor, tender meat(not the chewy cheap shit u get at some places) and the portions you get are definitely enough to fill you up and leave you with extra for later. I usually get the hot chicken and teriyaki chicken combo for $ 9.75. I like the veggies you get on the side, always well flavored and fresh. They also have brown rice for people who want more fiber in their diets which is cool because a lot of places don’t offer that. Be prepared to wait a few minutes in line cuz this place is usually busy in the evening but I promise it’s worth it. Or just call ahead and order to go. I guess my only con would be the price for gyozas — 7.25 for 7 of them? Little too steep but that’s just me… definitely wont stop me from being a customer here.

Cons: Service is touch and go. Pros: Everything else. Food is great, portions are high, food-to-cost value is very high. It’s just not a high-service joint. If you’re dining in, don’t hesitate to go to the front and ask for what you need, and your experience should be good.

Well I’m somewhat a of a Car Enthusiast and what led me here was me seeing a BMW M235i, it’s kind of rare to see other M235i’s in the immediate area and I’ve seen this particular one parked there quite a few times Now. So I was hoping to meet the owner of the car inside Japan Teriyaki and B. S a little about our cars… Long story short no car no B. Sing was accomplished. Ordered Beef Teriyaki and hot damn! Haven’t had anything that like that since Korea 2007! Will go back! For the food and maybe to talk cars!

I’ve gone here a lot having grown up in lacey. It was pretty much a staple«alternative to a burger joint» fast food place. Well… I ate their last night and have FOODPOISONING this morning. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but all this talk of $ 15 per hour seems to be lowering the quality and service of fast food places. This past 2 months whenever I have decided to be lazy and get fast food ANYWHERE, I have had my order completely wrong, missing items or it made me sick. Happy Teriyaki 3 was no exception. Waking up to dehydration and diarrhea is enough to make someone tell people. It’s really too bad, I use to really like the place. Oh well, maybe this is the universe telling me that I should never eat fast food, and not to support a $ 15 minim wage hike. If these people can’t get a simple order right… why would we ever let them dictate economic policy?

After reading the reviews decided to try the Chicken Teriyaki. Place was busy, which is a good sign, ordered takeout and the service was fast and friendly and still hot once I got back to hotel. All my requests were met(teriyaki on the side) and food was tasty with plenty of it. Will definitely return to this location.

The beef teriyaki just tasted bad, I don’t even know why or what made it that way. It is super hard to screw up teriyaki at a teriyaki restaurant, but they did it. :/The veggies that came with it were cooked until they were mushy. Staff were okay, not rude, but not helpful or pleasant either. Nothing worth going back for.

Hands down … the BEST teriyaki restaurant in the south sound area. I have never had a bad meal from them. I have lived in the area for 17 years and have tried others. No other place comes close to the flavor, and freshness that Happy Teriyaki #3 produces. Their signature sauce, «thick sauce» is the secret recipe that pulls everything together. It is super simple to call and order out, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is quiet but also family friendly. Amazing!

the staff is friendly, the food is good and the atmosphere there can range from comfortably quiet to quite busy and noisy. the outside seating area is comfortable although the traffic going by can be a noise distraction. so far I’ve never had a bad meal there. I love the hot chicken and have even ventured out and tried the kimchi on one occasion. price versus value is not bad at all. a decent portion at a decent price. I’d recommend this place.

Quick, delicious teriyaki served by mostly really good looking college girls. Yes! This joint has been around for years and the food is good quality and consistent. A remodel done some years ago vastly improved the seating, cleanliness and ambience. I recommend hot chicken, teriyaki ribs and the Yaki soba noodles. All my favorites. The basic teriyaki chicken is also fantastic. You should try this place.

One of my favorite teriyaki joint. They are one of the few places that make a yaki udon, which is pretty much a yakisoba but using udon noodles. Their love salad is also a constant favorite in my household. During our last visit, I was in particular mood for udon soup. I was excited to see online that udon soup was on their menu, however, it was a little of a disappointment. We we arrived, we found out that they only make it one way(with fish, an egg and onions). They stated that their or no substitutions or changes that could be made so we went ahead and tried it. It had an overwhelming smell/taste of seafood and desperately needed seasoning. I still gave this place a 4 star though because their yaki udon and love salad is amazing!

They utterly messed up our to-go order, and what we did get was greasy and bland. :-( My husband ordered take-out of tempura vegetables, vegetarian yaki-udon, and vegetarian sukiyaki. When he showed up they said they had two to-go orders ready and which was his? He listed each of the things we had ordered and they handed over a bag saying«this is yours.» He biked home and we opened up the containers to discover that they had sent us a BEEF dish instead of our vegetarian sukiyaki. Thankfully some neighbors were home for us to give that container to, but it’s annoying to spend money on food – and tip well – and then discover we can’t eat it. In addition, he had asked for one fried rice and one plain, and instead was disappointed to discover they were both plain rice(a nice Japanese sticky rice, but we had nothing to eat it with.) The noodle dish was barely edible(adding soy sauce helped a lot), as it was greasy and bland with mushy vegetables and too much bland tofu. The vegetable tempura was ok(the inclusion of bell peppers was a mis-step, they don’t taste good in tempura) and I imagine it was better fresh so that’s the one dish I’m going to recommend out of our experience. The tempura comes with steamed cabbage, carrots, and broccoli, that are not flavored in any way and make a super boring side. I will not be giving this place a second try.

Talk about a childhood memory– I’ve been coming to Happy Teriyaki for about 25 years. Fellow Lacey residents will agree that this restaurant has been a staple for a couple decades. What does it offer? Nothing too far outside the normal menu you’d find in any other teriyaki restaurant. However… I struggle to recall any other teriyaki restaurant chain that has stood the test of time like Happy Teriyaki. Asian restaurants in the South Sound area are a hit-or-miss in terms of life span, but any South Sound resident who hasn’t lived under a rock for the past 20 years(I’m sure there’s a few, at least) will be able to tell you of at least a couple experiences at Happy T. Why so popular? For one, it’s cheap. My date and I came here for a Sadie Hawkins back in sophomore year high school, and we could still afford it. We got the Happy Bowl, which is rice + vegetables with teriyaki chicken. All of this glory for $ 4.95, which is good because I think we spent the rest of our money on matching outfits(please tell me that was a requisite for the dance and not a «creative» idea we thought of by ourselves). And for $ 7.50 or less, you can also take advantage of their steak, beef, or hot chicken. Second, the food is consistent. Sure, it’s not 5 star gourmet cuisine, but the food comes out the same every time you order it. And that consistency is meaningful when you’re looking for a quick dinner and don’t want to invest time to think. So, each time you order any of my favorites: hot chicken, gyoza plate, beef, ribs, or yakisoba… rest assured that your food will taste the same as you last ordered. So, if you happen to be in the South Sound area and need some solid, cheap, and familiar food, stop by Happy Teriyaki. They will treat you well.

We spent the day in and around Ranier park and ended up in Lacey for the night. Teriyaki sounded good so we found Happy Teriyaki and had a very good meal. Order at the counter and have a seat, the food is delivered. We are not expert on Teriyaki, but really liked our meals. Ms T had Udon with Chicken and I had the Hot Chicken. The servings were enormous, but more importantly, the food was good. The Udon Chicken was not the typical teriyaki, it was mild flavored, bit with very good grill on the chicken and nice mushroom in the sauce. Some of the vegetables were a little overdone, but overall, very good. My hot Chicken was intense, not that hot, but with a rich almost caramel glaze on the meat. I ordered brown rice with it, you can do white or fried. The rice was simple and worked well to offset the richness of the chicken. This is a good one to share. Besides these huge dishes, we consumed an order of goyza which were fine, not heavy. This meal really hit the spot. We only wished we had this close to home.

Even though I am surrounded by teriyaki joints up in Seattle, Happy Teriyaki will always remain my favorite spot for chicken teriyaki. I actually had my first taste of teriyaki here when I was a kid. Heck, my best friend and I used to cut class(on occasion) to have a long enough lunch to dine here back in high school. Anyways, the food here is fast, affordable and very tasty. You definitely will not find scari-yaki at this place, since they have to be one of the cleanest teriyaki spots I know of. Also, they serve good white rice! I can always count on Happy Teriyaki on serving a consistenly delicious meal.
