When my shift is early, this is one of the place to go to get some good breakfast bread. They open around 5 am while the other bakeries, pastry shop and coffee shop are still closed. Once I bought the breads and pastry I like I go by my coffee at Starbucks or Winchell’s or Mac donalds. I like variety.

I tried this place for the first time because I usually buy empanadas near my school and since I’ve graduated I couldn’t find a good place. This place is easy to find on the street. Seems a bit empty but they have really good cookie empanadas(: I only bought 5 and they were gone by the end of the night in less than 10 min. Will be going back again!

Family owned place. The bread is always fresh & I LOVE that they have the mini conchitas. But get them early because they sell out fast. You can also place an order for them for a party or something ahead of time. They are always a hit! Also, I love that they always have cafè con canela for $ 1.

I have to say this is one of the best bakeries in the area. I come from 23 miles away to get some of their delicious bread. They have conchas, galletas and all kinds of other goodies. The customer service is excellent. The only downside is they are CASHONLY, but that is the price to pay for a small mom and pop shop. The prices are very reasonable and a lot cheaper than most places in this area. :)

I actually didn’t discover this place — their pan dulce(i.e. «sweet bread») found its way to my office via one of my work colleagues who surprised us all by bringing us a variety of their offerings on a Friday morning. The pan dulce(conchas, polvorones, cuernos, orejas, galletitas, etc.) were all savory, airy and smelled wonderfully — they were pretty much devoured within twenty minutes after arrival. I am always in the search of a good panaderia and this was truly some of the better fresh baked pan dulce I’ve had more recently in LA — it was the right touch of sweetness, moistness and crispiness(depending on what type of bread I was eating). Now what made me note the address and drive all the way to La Puenta to get more of this bread for a large family get-together was that they make petite or smaller bite size portion of their sweet breads, which is great for gatherings as sometimes you really don’t want to eat a whole concha and then end up eating only half of it and the rest goes to waste or get’s stale if it’s forgotten. Well thanks to La Corona, my problem was solved and their bread was a hit with the family as well. The panaderia is a local mom and pop shop — hardworking owners giving it all to grow their bakery all while proving friendly customer service. I definitely recommend La Corona and will be going back.

This is the best pan dulce I’ve ever had and I mean ever! I always pick some up for family functions or work meetings and everyone rants and raves about how great they are. The bakery is run by a husband, wife and their two children and they are so friendly. LOVE, LOVE, LOVEIT!
