Best hood joint on the block. Straight fire! From the tacos to the burritos. Place never disappoints.

Basically this place holds a special spot in my heart. my now hubby used to bring me here all the time when we first started dating, and I would crave this place all the time thereafter, I still do… nothing hits the spot better than when you’re starving and a big giant delicious carne asada burrito con todo! Everything is bomb-tastic here from the tacos and quesadillas to the carne asada fries, basically I had to marry the fool cause he knew the way to my heart was through my tummy!!!

Best spot for tacos! They are amazing and worth the wait because their line can get a little long. I’ve had chicken and Asada tacos and they are delicious. They pack them with cheese, cabbage, meat and hot sauce… they melt in your mouth!!! Had their burrito and its huge and tasty. Tacos are my favorite!!! Thank goodness I live nearby, great little busy gem.

Food got me sick. I knew there was a reason I always avoided this place. Joined others that wanted to get food from here. Thought I’d give it a try. Carne asada meat was very chewy, not fresh tasting. Didn’t like the idea of eating guacamole that was being made by a man using his bare hands. Can trust people nowadays on whether they properly cleaned their hands or not. Red salsa is spicy but flavorless. Not satisfying at all. I’ve had way better tasting carne asada burritos from a food truck than this place.

I don’t get to La Puente very often but whenever I do I stop at Boca Del Rio… this place has perhaps some of the best tacos I’ve ever had with exception to maybe Mexico City… but for this style of taco they are the best !!

So here’s the deal, I usually take into account everything when reviewing anything on Unilocal. In this case, I’m going to overlook a few things but still include all the details. Sorry, but the food here deserves five stars, lack of atmosphere or not. Food: I’ve had other things on this simple menu, such as the quesadillas and the burritos, and they are satisfying, but the delicacy at this«hole-in-the-wall» is the tacos. So what’s so special about the tacos? Well to begin with, they provide you with endless options from guacamole and sour cream to onions and tomatoes. But one of the reasons I absolutely love this place is because of the amount of cheese they give you. It’s insane! They don’t charge extra and they are not stingy at all, which is refreshing. Your meat options are asada, chicken, pork, and other items, but my favorite is asada, which is seasoned perfectly. Last thing is the salsa, honestly, nothing can make-or-break Mexican food quite like salsa can. Love both of their red and green salsa, but the red has a great overall flavor with a decent amount of spice to it. Having relatives that live in the La Puente area, I make sure to stop by any time I can. Staff: For the most part, the staff is very accommodating. I am a Mexican that doesn’t speak Spanish so their patience is appreciated. Seriously, I don’t appreciate when I get looked down upon just because I don’t know Spanish. They are quick and attentative. Price: While I will admit the tacos and some of the other items on the menu are pricy, it’s justified for the most part. Considering they hook you up with cheese, I can look past the price. I also tend to overlook prices if the quality of the food merits it. The only thing that slightly bother me is the cost of the drinks, plus they charge a refill. But if you get it to go, it’s not a huge issue. Atmosphere: Ok, so if you look through the reviews, this is a huge issue for some. Me personally, not really. If the food is great, I really don’t care what it looks like. Also, come on people it is a taco stand, not restaurant. That said, it really wouldn’t kill them to paint the benches every so often. But honestly, if I am going to Boca Del Rio, I’m not going because it looks nice. So again, I am looking past that because of what it is. If you choose to dine there, you are acknowledging that this is a taco stand, nothing more, nothing less. If it bothers you that much, eat it at home, car, or anywhere else. Other Notes: I’m not kidding you when I say that these are some of the best tacos I have ever had, and I feel it is something all races should come over and eat. It’s a part of La Puente that I will always love, which is nice since the city is a food meca in its own right. Kudos to the owner, hope they don’t change anything… except for maybe a little paint.

OHMYGOD, so two different coworkers brought me tacos for lunch today, some from Cafeina in Alhambra, and some from Boca. Boca tacos are INSANELY good. Just look at the photos. The only reason Im taking one star down is that the carnitas were absolutely bland and tasteless. But the asada was out of this world. So SOGOOD.

People who haven’t had Boca Del Rio before probably pass this Taco Stand up often due to its lack of appeal. Even when a place seems a little uncertain, try it(after checking on Unilocal that no one died from eating there) because you might be missing out on the world’s best something. Behind the windows of this old stand you’d expect decency at most. That’s not the case for Boca Del Rio who happens to sell the best tacos around! –TACOS: are stacked with a juicy meat of your choice(Asada, Lengua, Cabeza, Pastor, or Carnitas), layered in sour cream, guacamole, sauce(green or red), and graciously topped with freshly grazed cheese! –BURRITOS: have all the same flavorful ingredients as the taco but with beans thrown in and a huge warm tortilla to wrap around all the deliciousness! Boca Del Rio might not put so much effort on the outside but to see the lengthy line at the window only proves to show that their enjoyable choices have a fan base! If you think you’ve had the best taco there is, I challenge you to have one here! Enjoy the monstrous magic!

Best quesadillas and the guys are always nice! I’ve tried the carne Asada, yes it’s fresh tasting but it lacks seasoning eh… Salt. The true star taco is the al pastor DAMN! It’s so delicious I’m not even a huge pork fan and I decided to try it based on the reviews… So worth the wait in the line. I get my tacos loaded with everything. Lettuce or cabbage(I’m not sure what it is) sour cream, the best tasting Mexican cheese(hence the best quesadillas– my daughters fav which I’m always trying to get a bite) and guac. Or red/green salsa! For some odd reason I like the soda here too, I haven’t tried the burritos but heck– they use the same Ingredients so I’m confident the al pastor burrito is JUSTASBOMBAS the taco… Also, while standing in line a lady mentioned that none of the cooks or preps use gloves… I guess that’s a good point. I’m kinda of a germs a phobia(autocorrect) so that’s why they get the 4⁄5 wrap it up boys !!! Yes it’s good and maybe the heat kills the bacteria or whatever germs(I’m all in for a good hole in a wall-this place isn’t a hole in a wall) let’s be cleaner!

Boca Del Rio is a hidden gem in good olé La Puente. They make the best freaking tacos, ever! It’s a total hole in the wall joint that serves some amazing tacos. Looks as if you’d definitely get food poisoning eating here, but looks are definitely deceiving! Try to look past the ghettoness of the place and once you’ve tried one of their tacos, you’ll keep coming back! Their menu is very limited. It consists of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Their tacos has meat, cheese, onions, cilantro, and cabbage. For $ 1.66 a piece, they are pretty damn big! They pack it with tons of meat and cheese! They don’t skimp on anything. Generous portions and so delicious! I grew up in La Puente and I pass by Boca Del Rio pretty often, I just don’t know why I don’t eat here as much. Tonight definitely reminded me of how good it is and I’ll be coming here more often! Thanks for the bomb ass tacos! Can’t wait to come back!

Rip out a big ol’ chunk of cheese with your bare hands, run it up and down on a cheese shredder than throw on it a big gob of somewhat semi good asada topped with a scoop of sour cream and there’s your taco. They are big(lots of meat)…but need a little more umph for flavor. Outside has ancient(been there awhile) spills and papers all over the place and dirty tables. Speaking of tables, go to Home Depot and get a five gallon can of red paint and repaint your picnic tables outside. Time for some cleaning up around here.

I’ve been coming here since high school and it hasn’t changed. The asada is juicy as ever, the tortilla is dominated by meat and toppings such as guacamole, sour cream, onions, cilantro and cabbage. And I love anything with with cheese on top, they grated right over the whole thing. I currently live in Los Angeles but am totally willing to drive 35 min east just for these tacos. If your in or around the Los Angeles area I recommend you take a drive to La Puente for these tacos. Oh and the burritos are good as well.

Customer service is horrible and they seem to always run out of some meat. This is why I brought down the review Other than that the burritos and tacos are amazing!!!

Burrito is second to none. They make it infront of you and just slap on all the meat. You got refried beans, they shred the cheese into the burrito and add avacado sauce with sour cream. It’s a monster. Tapiac has sauce on thier Burritos but Boca del Rio does not need it. They are great! Skip this place if your dieting. This is not for the faint of heart. LOL It’s just good food the way you want it! Tacos are good but secong to the King — King Taco. 5 stars since I come here for burrito and nothing else!

If you want an ample and delicious burrito, or tacos, this is your spot. So good, I had to hit it twice in just as many weeks. I had been over to Taco Del Rio and saw a Unilocal review that mentioned Boca del Rio, claiming it was far better. How could I not accept that Pepsi challenge? I have to say after sampling their wares, I agree. Not just because the line is shorter, but the carne asada is far more tender. There are less options, but what they make is nothing short of delicious. This hole-in-the-wall gem is straight and to the point. Best part, is they take card payments!

I love love love this place. I’ve been coming here since high school. There was literally a time where I would come here once a week. Super addictive stuff! If you want a legit, huge, delicious burrito, you have to try this place. I always get the all meat carne asada burrito with everything on it, which includes: lettuce, cilantro and onion, sour cream, guacamole, and fresh grated cheese. As for the salsa, I get both the green and red sauce. The red can be really spicy so if you can’t handle spicy, just get the green. If you’re looking for legit Mexican food this place might look dirty, but that’s where you get the best stuff. :)

Want to vote on or make your own list of the best tacos in Los Angeles? You will be hard-pressed to find tacos prepared any better than at this La Puente institution. I can promise they will be some of the tastiest, juiciest, creamiest and gooiest(I will explain shortly) tacos you will sink your teeth into. The tacos are hearty and only $ 1.66 each. The meat choices are asada(beef steak), carnitas(braised pork), lengua(beef tongue), al pastor(Shepard style pork), buche(pork stomach) and cabeza(beef head). Chopped into generous chunks, the meats are so succulent, moist and flavorful. What may put them on top, however, is what makes them truly one of a kind as well. Every taco and burrito here is covered with gobs of sour cream, shredded white cheddar cheese and then topped with salsa verde(green tomatillo salsa). The result: some of the most delicious, mouth-watering, memorable tacos and burritos you will ever try! To use another food analogy, it like going to a burger parlor expecting to get a good cheeseburger. You instead get a delicious chili cheeseburger or cheesy sloppy joe. Perhaps not what you expected but I promise you will get addicted to them. If you are in the hunt for delicious, juicy, greasy tacos that is heavy on the cream and cheese, Boca Del Rio is worth a visit. If it cannot get any better, might I recommend washing down some tacos or a burrito with a horchata. An almond and rice beverage, theirs is also some of the best I have tasted. And another beverage they serve is the Orange Bang — one of my all-time favorite drinks. There is a second Boca Del Rio location in Covina.

Good late night spot to grab some tacos or a burrito. I always order a few of the $ 2.02 taco specials which consists: ur choice of meat, sour cream, guacamole, cabbage, onions, cilantro and cheese. The freshly grated monterey jack cheese that they top it off is awesome! Boca Del Rio is a super hole in the wall place and the area is very sketchy, so beware of the drunken hoodlums that come here lol. The carne asada is just avg to me but the al pastor and lengua are both delish though. The owner of BDR happens to be a Korean man, haha that’s a first.

You know those times when you just want Mexican food but not so much for the burritos, nachos, tortas, or sopes. You just want the good ol taco simple but tasteful. You’ll find that here the order took a while because of the language barrier(lol) but after that taco reaches your taste buds. Instant gratification. Go for the Asada tacos no questions –warm corn tortillas –sizzling carne asada –freshly prepared Pico de Gallo –great mushed guacamole –topped with shredded Monterey Jack cheese –drizzled with their green sauce!

I finally got to try Boca yesterday. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time especially after my experience with Taco Del Rio. I would personally say that Boca isn’t as great as Taco Del Rio in my opinion. I tried the lengua burrito with my friend and I personally love the inside(the meat, cheese(they actually shredded the cheese(legittt), vegetables, beans). I think the inside was really tasty and the meat they cut was really proportionate so I think it taste great and i would probably say it is the 2nd best burrito i have tried so far. The thing is the tortilla just doesn’t taste as great as what Taco Del Rio delivers. The tortilla at Taco Del Rio is a lot better because they actually pan fried the tortilla before they wrapped the stuff in so it was«crunchy?» Yet when I tried the burrito at Boca Del Rio I felt like it was too soft and it easily gets mushy because of the tortilla. I think that is the major difference between Taco Del RIo and Boca Del Rio. There are some good benefits in coming to Boca though for example I felt like they give you a bigger portion at a really reasonable price. It was like $ 5−6ish for a big burrito. Too legit dude. the other thing is i feel like the inside(the meat) tasted great. I think it’s the way they cut it? because i felt like the inside of the burrito is seriously great! I say you should give it a try if you are in the area or if you never tried it at all.
