A good place to catch live music every once in awhile and I love the curry chips.

Great food. Fast service. they only compliant I have about this place is that I felt I was treated as a number more than a person. I don’t know how else to explain it. Great experience overall. Shepherds pie was excellent.

My review was written when I checked in. Food is great service could be better but not bad for a pub.

Seventy five dollars for a few beers and two meaLs? Jeez no. I should be drunk by now. Cute ambiance but from the mundane quality of the food and the mediocre beer I should have spent way less. And the server kept trying to pull our stuff from the table before we were done. Why is he moving so fast? Kinda rude.

Sitting here at the bar having a solo dinner and glass of wine pre nail appt and had to review. Service has been SPECTACULAR, attentive, quick, and with a smile. :) Not sure of the lady or gentleman’s name working the bar but they are great. Not surprised though, this place always has the best staff! Thanks again Hooleys! Ps, addicted to the Kilkenny salad, seriously boys, you would like it too, just add steak

Went here for dinner last night. I got the fish and chips, so delicious ! My daughter got the kids turkey sandwich — lots of meat ! If you check in you’ll get free bread pudding, so delicious ! Our waiter was very attentive and never left out drinks dry! Will definitely be coming back here again !

Absolutely love this place! The food is always fantastic, the service is always wonderful. There are so many great meals, I don’t think I could pick a favorite. I love trying new things when we visit. A very family friendly place. On our last visit, everyone went above and beyond to make our visit great. I highly recommend Hooley’s!

It’s a great place to go for sure, but unfortunately I had a discrepancy with the bill as they do it very differently when having a tab open. Which is fine they could explain it right? Apparently not, the bartender walked over and his first words are«you’re not very bright are you? « Now I get it, it’s Patrick’s day and all that. But that’s the kind of customer service you use? The same issue happened to another customer while I was standing there. Maybe just change the way you open and close tabs or have a better way to explain it. Bartending requires people skills, just a heads up.

The combo appetizer was pretty delicious and I tried a bite of my husbands corned beef taco and those were fantastic. But the lobster mac was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever ordered. The flavor was so bland and there was one tiny piece of lobster the size of a quarter, Mac from Souplantation has more flavor than this stuff. For $ 19 a plate, I would expected a whole lot more.

Came here for my boyfriends birthday. The beer was a little higher priced then we are used to but the food was fantastic. He had the burger and I had the ham and cheese grilled sandwich which was grilled sourdough bread with melted cheese on it. The inside was ham and 3 kinds of cheese. It was so good !

This is a mixed review. My soon to be hubby and I had a craving for clam chowder. Hooleys happens to have some of the very best and they only serve it on Friday so we planned early in the week to go out for a Friday night date night. I called ahead to get on the wait list. They don’t take call aheads but was assured there was no wait. When we got there(10 min later) there was a 20 min wait but we’re able to snag a table in the pub area as another couple was waiting. Our server came over the usual stuff, blah blah, and when we went to order we were informed THEYWEREOUTOFCLAMCHOWDER!!! Buzz kill. My date went for his second option, prime rib. THEYWEREOUTOFPRIMERIB!!! How does this happen??? It was Friday night at 6:30! The kitchen manager really shit the bed on this one. I get running out at 8 or 9 but prime dinner hours, really? We should have left out of protest but we’re super hungry. I got the fish tacos they were ok and the sautéed veg on the side was great: not over-cooked. Date got the fish and chips. He was satisfied. The redeeming factor of the night was Katie the server we had was super great. Attentive without being hover-y and was all over condiment and beverage refills. A+ for Katie! F– for kitchen manager and B+ for plan b dinner. It’s not what we wanted but it was ok.

The food tasted average. My friend said his food tasted like a frozen dinner. They have cheap specials. The bread pudding made up for the lackluster food and I would probably come back just for the bread pudding though. Customer service was good also.

Get the onion soup. Don’t think– just do it! The food here is pretty heavy so come with an appetite and don’t be surprised to leave with a tummy ache! Their mashed potatoes are really yummy. I always get the onion soup and half salad(Kilkenny)

I will never step foot in that place again unless mgmt apologizes. Sitting at the bar, my boyfriend and I asked for a club soda and we were told by the bartender that we werent going to sit at his bar, listen to music and drink for free. I said we wanted soda not water and that we were regulars and come for all the blues bands. In fact we were in there for dinner the other night when there was no music. We have spent about $ 500 in there last year alone. The older bartender told me he had never seen us before and he is there 6 days a week behind the bar. Basically he called me a liar and told us to drink or leave. I dont drink alcohol… I am officially done with Hooleys La Mesa

I’ve been in town for a few days and hadn’t found any place that really made a road-weary guy feel comfortable and at home. I’m happy to say that Hooley’s fit the bill perfectly. As I sat down at the bar, I was greeted by one of their expert bartenders. The big guy was able to speak comfortably about anything, including their extensive whiskey collection, and even gave me a great dinner suggestion. The noise level was great on Thursday but a bit loud on Friday, but hey, it’s a bar. And it’s Friday. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage and followed up with their Irish cream crème brûlée and Both were amazing. Basically, it’s a perfect Irish pub with awesome bartenders and exceptional food. Truly a treat.

So one day my friend insisted on going to eat here since she likes their taco Tuesday’s lol. We stopped by together on a Sunday morning for brunch. As we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we wanted pub seating or diner seating, we made a complete circle inside and just decided on diner seating since it was more brighter on that side . The drink special was a Bloody Mary, so we opted for that. It was only $ 3.50, so I was guessing it wasn’t gunna do much, since I had a horrible headache from being hungover lol …, and I was right, it was weak AF. They tasted good, but just weak . Anywho, the food was mediocre. I ordered a breakfast sandwich which came with eggs, bacon, and sausage on a brioche bun, and a side of potatoes sautéed with bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. It was okay, but it was something that looked and tasted like a Denny’s breakfast. The potatoes were better than the sandwich. They had this hot sauce which made it taste better . My friend order the calamari tacos, which she loves. Maybe, I’ll try them if I go back . Overall, this place is chill, but I don’t think I’ll Be back soon. Maybe on a taco Tuesday or something, but not on a regular day out.

Went here on a much needed date night with my fiancé and I have to say we had a spectacular time. We were sat as soon as we walked in a semi private booth near a corridor. Our server had glasses and was super friendly and never missed a beat despite the Friday night bustle. The food was super tasty and cooked just right. Lobster tail with the lobster butter was so enjoyable as was the meat which was cooked to perfection. I loved the garlic mashed potatoes and it went super well with the lobster butter. Remembering this makes my mouth water! We also had calamari and potato skins for an appetizer. Since it’s an Irish place I was afraid the calamari was going to be served with tartar sauce but thankfully it wasn’t. The calamari wasn’t chewy and was super delicious with the crispy hotness and cold sauce. The potato skins were soooo great with the ranch and sour cream.

They ask you to write a good Unilocal review for a free dessert. First of just trying to look good on Unilocal by offering somthing free is a joke. They say«bottomless mimosas but they charge you $ 4 for every orange juice they bring you. The waitress that we had liked to make a point of making feel like we are dumb for even asking a question about anything. Bringing the wrong food, no refills unless asked for. Just all together bad service. I wasn’t expecting alot just decent service with a good attitude, I didn’t find that here. Don’t visit this place.

Very happy with the food. We usually go pre dinner rush to avoid the busy restaurant and bar. Love the ambiance and the food is always yummy. Would be 5 stars but we had a bad night here with a server that I just can’t forgive enough for it to be a 5 again. Recommend the turkey burger, prime rib dip, and the corned beef tacos. Can’t go without the French onion soup!

The pub was ok. We went after climbing the potato chip hike so I was starving! I ordered the butterscotch pancakes with a side of eggs. When they brought me my food they gave me regular pancakes with eggs. Since I was starving I was not happy that I had to wait longer for my food. The eggs were ok, they tasted a little cold. Once the pancakes came out they tasted great but I just wasn’t happy that they weren’t correct the first time.

Hooleys is the one spot you know that will have Jameson shots with pickle back and that’s a dart in my heart. They are very well known for their fantastic menu & food. The French onion is HANDSDOWN a true favorite of me and my mom! Tacos are Delish, I’m known for my lemon addiction there and I put lemon on everything ESPECIALLY tacos on taco Tuesday ;). I’ve had every single thing on the menu from salads to mac n cheese to steaks. I give this pub a 5 star because of Derek Kary who has always recommended the best of the best! Great staff especially mister Derek Kary who I adore and recommend for any suggestions!

Finally went to Hooley’s for the 1st time. Was never sure if it was child friendly. Turns out… it is. My 4 yr old had the Giant pretzel w/beer cheese for dinner. Between him &his dad they ate about half. It was giant. I had the onion soup, which was good & the fish n chips. Fish was golden and crispy. Just the right amount of batter and chips were yummy. My husband had the half & half burger. Was juicy and cooked to perfection. Meat was a mixture of corned beef and beef. Delicious. While the food was good it was our waitress Raechel that made our meal great. She knew the menu and gave us great recommendations as well as how she likes them. She also checked on us often and our drinks were never empty. Good experience. We will be going back. Side note my 4 yr old is very picky and he has asked to go again.

6÷14÷15− Went here with my boyfriend for dinner tonight, and all in all I really liked it. I liked the feel of the restaurant, the general vibe was very relaxed. I had the Ham and Cheese melt and bae had the Fish and Chips as we shared some potato skins! The food was DELISH! I loved all the food! The waiter seemed distracted and distant, and normally I hate that but the food was so good how can I complain?

So I’ve been here a few times and the service is pretty consistent. It has always been good when I’ve gone. We usually sit in the bar to avoid waiting for a table. Tonight our server was Madison and she checked on us pretty regularly and was very sweet. I had the Fish & Chips, which was a first for me here. It was pretty good. The breading was fairly crispy and not too thick like a lot of places. The tartar sauce was really good. I would probably get this again. They have live music here on Saturdays. We left as they were about to start playing to go have dessert somewhere else. My son does like this restaurant though because they have free wifi. Kids, huh?

Oh my god, how have I been here so many times and never written a review for Hooley’s?! I’m so sorry, Hool. You deserved better. Anyway. I’ve been here at least a couple dozen times. I always LOVE coming here, whether it’s for my birthday(two years in a row!), celebrating new jobs, or just because it’s «about that time for some Hooley’s». It’s probably in the range of once a month by this point. And why not? Excellent food, excellent drinks, excellent staff. There’s always enough seating, and I love the ambiance. My menu favorites are the shrimp & chips(although I’ve recently started subbing tots for the chips because OMFG they’re amazing) and the bread budding. I seriously can’t deviate from these favorites, as much as I’ve been tempted to. That sweet chile sauce for the shrimp is just too good. I love this place. Please never change.

So we walked in at 8:32 into the bar and 2 minutes later Brandon greeted us and asked for our drink orders. Talk about service, I was impressed and it greatly improved my mood. We placed our orders: –calamari: it was the strips not rings which was a plus, but it wasn’t the best I have had here it was slightly over cooked and chewy tonight. I do love that they serve it with the sweet chili sauce instead of tartar or cocktail. –the spiciest wings avaliable: they need to work on their spicyness levels because they were not spicy in my book. I did love that Brandon was honest when we asked and let us know that they have recently switched chefs and they are working on the recipe. –chicken boxty: it was a savory potatoe pancake with a pretty good white wine reduction and some veggies(I could only really depict the onion and possibly red bell pepper). My fiancé asked for syrup and said it was much better with a drizzle on top. I didn’t try it but Brandon said he will try it out and see if he would recomend it since we ordered the dish off of his recomendation. –Burger: pepper jack cheese and add avocado. The bun was my favorite part plus the tater totts. The burger itself was pretty standard nothing too special. The avocado was fresh with good color so I loved that. For a quick inexpensive bite to eat, I would recomend this place, it’s not the best and not the worst. It is for sure pub food but for the average pub I would say it’s above average. I gave it three stars because of the awesome service, if it was only based off food I would say 2.5 at best.
