It’s true… Food is microwaved here. Saw it with my own two eyes. They make no effort to hide the wall-mounted microwave next to the the slide-thru window for waiting orders. At least there is no «beeep» when the food is done. They’ve got that going for them. I’m not against microwaves, but there’s s time & place for them. I can nuke a meal at home. Maybe microwave barbecue is what«West Coast» barbecue really is. That being said, the food is edible in a way that frozen pizza is edible… not great, and certainly wouldn’t go out of my way for it… Their menu should stick with a few appetizers(keep up the deep-frying) and stop trying to pose as a barbecue joint.

Make sure to come here at least twice a month — awesome beer selection and amazing bbq. Have never had a problem with service — always on it.

I ordered a BBQ chicken dinner, which included a generous portion of a half chicken and 2 sides. This was my fourth time to west coast BBQ, the 1st was a take out like this order, which was also quite dismal, I ate in twice which was good, but ordered out tonight. Well, pictures tell the story best. The dinner they offered was weak at best, when I drove back to give them the sorry meal I had paid for they politely refunded my money, but kept the tip. SERIOUSELY!!!

Some positives about this place — very good, friendly service, reasonable prices especially in light of the food portions, good craft beer selection and prices. Problem is that both our meals were disappointing. The best part was the side of warm bread that came with it. The BBQ chicken was overcooked and dry. The bbq sauce was OK, nothing special. The baked potato side i had was undercooked. The side salad was uninspired and the tomatoes on it were uck. Not impressed enough to return.

I went there yesterday for lunch and had a great time. I got the special burnt ends sandwich with a side of nickel pickles(which are not always on the menu from what I was told) and it was more food than I can manage. Had a couple of very good beers and was out in time to get back to work. I believe my server was Alexis, and she was amazing. Checked up on me regularly and was super friendly and nice. I plan on coming back before the year is out

If you live near SDSU or anywhere east of it & like mom & pop places. This is a great one. Craft brews, smoked & bbq food plus random specials. Easy parking & friendly staff.

After being a K&D snob for many years, a few friends started going to WC for beers and food. I tried it about 16 months ago and was not a fan. Gave it another try about 5 months ago and WC is my new spot for lunch, dinner, and beers! The French Dip is the best I have ever had. I am not a beer snob so I like it that I can get a good local beer or just a cold Coors Lite(Thanks Larry). I remember the first time I tried it, the servers seemed to be unimpressed with their jobs and that carried over to the customer. The team there now is fantastic and passionate about their work. They like to «get to know you» regardless how busy the place is. I recommend WCBBQ is you are in the area and are looking for a comfortable place to have a cold beer(yes ever those fancy beers) and a good bit to eat.

This is the only time I have ever given a business one star and the only time in my life I have been treated so poorly by a server. My mom and sisters are both servers and have been for years, so I know how hard someone who does this job works. With that being said, our server Amber, was so rude that I was actually disappointed there was no manager or authority there I could speak with. When we walked in we sat and waited for 5 minutes and were only acknowledged after I got up to try and find a menu. I was then told very snooty«kitchen closes in 5 minutes.» We could pick something quick so we sat down and started looking the menu over. As we were doing this I could clearly see and hear Amber, our server, complaining to someone else behind the counter that we had come in 5 minutes before the kitchen was closed. She was very rude and obviously unaware we could see and hear everything she said. Our food came out quick. And when asked if we needed anything I said no. I don’t believe my friend heard her because after about a second our server gave my friend a dirty look for not responding and walked off. A few minutes later, I was still eating but she came and took my friends plate without even asking if she was done. This was very irritating to me because 5 minutes later she asked me if I was finished or needed a box?!! I guess she was upset my friend hadn’t responded earlier about needing anything. By this point my friend was upset and I was upset and Amber is continuing to talk about us to people drinking at the bar. As we were leaving I watched her drink off someone’s beer off the bar.(Wtf is going on?!) And then she came running out yelling so sarcastically«BYEHAVE A GREATNIGHT!» As we were leaving. I don’t know if this girl was just having a bad night or if she is always that way but we will never go back to that place.

Been here several times and finally reviewed it! Excellent baby back ribs and side orders. Sauces could be more flavorful The chicken is great too nice smokey flavor but haven’t ordered that for a few years… Pretty much stuck on ribs and their beer selection rivals anywhere in town. Although the beers are a little pricey, u can get half pours too. 50 cent wings on Mondays very tasty — good during MNF– place gets pretty lively. Overall one of the best BBQ in town

I hate to give only 2 stars to this place but there is only one reason for that… bad service by AMBER! OMG, this girl is in the wrong business, she has the worst customer service that I have ever seen in a restaurant. Why she still works there I have no idea. I have to say though, all the other waitresses are spot on and super friendly which is why I keep going back. The owner of this place needs to get rid of this person because she brings the place to a low they don’t deserve. I could go on and on about how bad this girl is and her lack of customer skills but I don’t want to waste my time.

Love West Coast BBQ& Brew! We have been going there since it opened and love the atmosphere. The owners Larry and Tom keep a great rotation on the tap list weekly. Best Craft selection in the area bar none! The food is ok but they need to work on their burgers a bit and offer more options on the menu! When it comes to BBQ, I guess I’m spoiled with my Traeger Pellet grill! Overlooking the food lineup, I still frequent this little pub. Very friendly atmosphere and most people know each other as there are many regulars! I’m giving it the thumbs up all the way

Honestly, I will give 4 stars for service but the food was not what I expected. The onion rings were over cooked and the ribs seemed like they were just microwaved. I don’t think I want to eat here again.

I was in need of some protein so I decided on BBQ. I’d eaten here before, but it had been quite a while, so I thought I’d give it another try. It was happy hour when my son and I got there and just about every seat at the bar was full. This place has a bunch of different craft beers, and I usually go for anything red, but today was just water for me. We were able to place our drink orders quickly and our server was very friendly. The kids menu has a great selection. I love that the mac n’ cheese is served as a SIDE dish and not as an entrée.(I don’t know why it is ever served as an entrée.) I decided on chicken strips and mac n’cheese for the kiddo. I decided for myself that the brisket and carnitas plate would meet my protein needs. I chose the caesar salad and corn on the cob for my two sides, which are included with the plate. Again, we were able to place our order quickly and the food came out quickly as well. Overall, the food is good. Mac n’ cheese was tasty. Chicken strips were good although a tad bit overdone. 3 different BBQ sauces on the table to sample, each with their own distinct flavor. The meat was ok. Nothing in particular stands out about them. Anything dipped in BBQ sauce is good, so I dipped away. I think what makes BBQ great is when you can eat it without sauce and it’s delicious. This wasn’t the case here. Don’t get me wrong, it was good. It wasn’t great. I will say that I took my leftovers home and the brisket was actually better the second time around. In the end, a good experience.

It had been awhile since I graced the doors of this establishment. Being in the area, I decided and I would grab a quick bite. When I walked in the hostess just looked at me and went about her business. That was okay because I was going to go to the bar and watch the end of the Padre game. I sat at the bar for about 10 minutes with no one saying boo. There was a very tall older gentleman behind the bar who is surveying the establishment like he owned the joint and probably did. He looked at me a couple of times didn’t smile just stared off when this guy comes walking in who he obviously knew because before the guy sat down he had drawn his beer. Finally a lady who is doing dishes right in front of me looked up and said what can I get for you to drink. I said I don’t think I’m thirsty anymore, I’ve been totally ignored not a very good impression. I made it known that I was not happy and no one said anything as I walked out the door. I drove to Santee to the next BBQ establishment, Phils. Before I even got through the door somebody said hi asked me if I wanted something to go I said yes and within 10 minutes I had my sandwich and I was off to go and enjoy a nice day. Such a contrast and its a no wonder that Phil’s always has a line. West Coast had no line and no wait just a guy behind the bar who ignores and a staff that follows his lead. I never found out if the food was still as good as I remember. I guess I never will. Sunday, May 17th @ 14:30.

I dig it! Super duper great beer selection. BBQ beef was very tender and delicious. Pulled pork was moist and tasty. It’s a small dinning area and have had BBQ all over the country and there’s was not disappointing not the best but very good.

I’ve been meaning to write a review of West Coast BBQ& Brew for some time as I’ve been going there fairly regularly(maybe on average three to four times a month?) for the last two years and I’ve enjoyed many good beers and food at this establishment. First, I’ll start with the beer. Since many of the beers on TAP are always updated(and therefore changing weekly — sometimes daily), one should check out the two chalk boards prominently displayed on the back wall(behind the counter). On one’s Left is the«Strong» beers available on tap with the Manufacturer name on the left, the brew name is the middle and the alcohol content(%) on the right. The chalkboard on the Right is for«Craft» brews which are typically lower in alcohol content, but depending on the brew — some can have a higher % alcohol than the beers from the Strong board. It just depends. Good variety of brews available, especially if you know your beer and are into the local(SD) brewery scene. But the prices are very reasonable, especially during happy hour, which typically runs from 3 to 7 I believe Monday thru Friday. Second, the Food. What can I say? The BBQ is delicious! I like my BBQ ribs when the meat is really tender — yes sometimes falling off the bone– but it’s tasty and tangy and everything you want good BBQ to be. I’ve had tasty ribs(Beef, Pork) and even the Chicken is especially awesome. That says a lot right there! And for the sides I usually get the baked beans and the cole slaw; both of which were satisfactory. I’ve also had the fries(both regular and wedge variety) and they are served hot & delicious. If you like spicy stuff, I’d recommend the Jalapeño Poppers which are served hot and filled with melted cheese(Yum!). My favorite appetizer though are the Pulled Pork Nachos. As my daughter would say, they are«The Bomb!». I’m pretty sure that is a good thing. Well, I’m running out of time, so I’m going to sign-off now. I hoped you enjoyed my review and please go check out West Coast BBQ& Brew some day soon! Who knows, maybe I’ll see you there?

We got takeout from this place — my friend is a regular since she lives close to here. She recommended the ribs and the fries. Wise choices, my friend, because we practically inhaled the food. The BBQ lunch special is a good deal and comes in rather large portions. We shared one with the two of us, and added some side dishes for good measure. The ribs were tender, but almost falling off the bone. The BBQ sauce was on the sweet side, so if you like spicy you might want to add a couple dashes of hot sauce to it. Overall I would say this is a decent neighbourhood place, with excellent quality to price ratio.
