Americas Best Value Inn

In the words of Betty Davis, what a dump. In our room there is a leak in the bathroom, the bathroom door will not shut, the rooms are old and tired. Linens, bedding and towels are worn out. Bathroom floors are dirty. I can’t decide if this place needs a renovation or a gallon of gas and a match. On the plus side there is easy access to the freeway, and the staff is quick to respond to issues.

Looked at the other reviews and almost felt sorry enough for the property to give it 2 stars. Almost. The positives: price (we payed $ 10 less than we would have at the Super 8 next door), the room was clean and had not been smoked in (the hall outside had and the reception area reeked), and the tub drained (not true in some very high end hotels we’ve stayed in). The negatives: bedside lamp was not working (my husband pulled the bed out and found that it was unplugged so we fixed that), the freezer in the fridge barely held our little ice packs (needs a serious defrosting) and my number one unforgivable? The shower would not warm up more than what I’ll call tepid… skipped washing my hair this morning.
The breakfast buffet is «continental» — some little muffins, bread for toast, Cheerios or Raisin Bran, and the traditional waffle iron. No fruit, no protein. You can, however, order breakfast (eggs, meat, etc.) at what appears to be very cheap prices from the restaurant. We didn’t chance it… took our $ 10 savings and went to a local Mexican restaurant and spent $ 15.14 on a decent breakfast.
We’ve had mixed experiences with America’s Best Value. They appear to be building some new properties and we seem to have better luck with those.

Uncomfortable experience. Checked in to our room and not 30 min later someone opened our door with another key because it was reissued. Luckily we had the top latch on but the dead bolt didn’t work. The next morning we had a do not disturb sign on the door and house keeping still opened the door, same thing the dead bolt didn’t work but the latch did. What’s worse is when we spoke to the manager over the phone she assumed a discount would be the fix but that wasn’t our intent. It seemed like she was annoyed with our complaint. Would never recommend anyone to stay here.

Piss poor. Actually, it smells like piss. Looks like they’re remodeling but haven’t made it to the room that in in yet. Barely any water pressure in shower, moldy shower curtain, moldy, pulling away caulk.

Yuk! There’s a partially patched section of wall where it looks like the shower leaked. Carpet is stained, and the room smells moldy. Lots of signs that say to smoke outside, but the lobby and hallways reek of smoke!
