We stayed here one night awaiting our cruise the next day. It is only like 20 minutes from Galveston. We arrived late, checked in, and went to our room. I asked Britney when breakfast ended and she said 10:00am. Our room was nice and we had a good nights sleep. The next morning we go downstairs around 8:53am to get breakfast and there was nothing left and what was left was being thrown away. I looked at the sign and it said breakfast ends at 10:00am on Sundays. Confused, we went up to the front desk and they said breakfast was over. We inquired about the sign, which clearly it ends at 10:00am on Sundays. The front desk clerk mentioned that the sign the wrong closest to the breakfast area and that the one by the front desk was correct. No apologies were made and I mentioned that they need to remove the wrong sign since it confused people. The front desk clerk was indifferent and the man throwing away the food could have offered what was left to us but they didn’t care. That’s ok, never again will I stay here. Note to management: hire front desk clerks that care about people since you are in the hospitality business!!! Also, hire more people because it sounds like you are severely understaffed!!!

I’m going to give this Hotel 5 Stars not because it’s a Five star hotel but because for a 2 or 3 star hotel, they get an A++ rating I read some other reviews complaining about various things from trifle to concerning but as far as my experience for the last week, I had a terrific stay. The hotel staff was wonderful, the room was very clean, the amenities were far above a hotel in this class. I didn’t stay at the Best Western Mainland because I had no choice. I stayed there because they’re the only hotel in the area with an outdoor pool and as a bonus you can upgrade to a jacuzzi room, which I did. ;) I will be back, thanks.

Stayed here 9÷25÷15 to 9÷27÷15. I got in late 9⁄25 and noticed a mildew smell in the room but for under $ 100 I thought that was not that bad. Went to sleep because of an early departure the next day. When I returned to the room I noticed spots on the ceiling, the wall and in the bathroom. When I took a shower the next morning when the shower got wet you could see there was something dried on the marble walls. The walls were not white so I dabbed them with a white towel and it looked like blood. Gross. I went back to the spots I saw and they too looked like blood when I opened the curtain(which was stained with what looked like coffee) it was clear I had slept in a room with someone else’s blood in it. Gross. The upside was that during the stay the staff were nice. When I told the check out lady she just said she would send the maid down there and I offered to go with her to show her and when I did she just made excuses saying it was paint. I then got some water and wet the blood stained shower to show her it was blood… she touched it with her hand… gross and then verified it was blood. I may never stay in another Best Western based on this trip. I was also travelling with a senior citizen who had got the AARP rate which turned out to be higher than the rate I got over the web. Not nice over charging a senior but they did adjust her rate to the same as mine at my urging. Blood in my room has to be the nastiest thing I’ve experienced in all my years staying in hotels. This was so egregious I had to write a review. Even though the staff was nice enough the accommodations were filthy. Not worth the $ 100.

Checked in here 2.13.14 before heading out of Galveston for a cruise. Paid $ 100 for a king size bed for the night. Receptionist had her children behind the counter while we checked in at 5:30. Found spilled dried coffee in the elevator, they were out of coffee in the morning by 8:30, and none of the furniture in the room matched. Also they only had half sized pillows which I’ve never seen before. On the upside, the room was clean.
