My life changed when I found Kaylene… she is AMAZING. I was a hair refugee my whole life with curly fine hair… trudging from one salon to the next, where stylist after stylist would put me in one short awful cut after another. I was always fighting with my hair and there was never any joy. until I walked into massimo’s and sat in Kaylene’s chair — the clouds parted and the sun came pouring in. she said lets grow it out. she has solutions for all my hair problems, every single one! I can’t explain how fantastic it feels to be free of this great burden. my hair is not only amazing now, it’s my trademark. I am not just happy and thrilled with my hair for the first time since birth, I absolutely love it!
the visit to massimo’s is pure bliss all the way around. it’s a very welcoming salon, easy to find, everyone is friendly and upbeat and you really do feel the love before you even get in the door.

Alfonso and Kaylene are hands down the best stylist I’ve seen in a long time. They both have their own unique style! Alfonso amazes me everytime with his flawless blowouts and they can work with all different textures of hair! Colors, highlights, Keratin treatments, cuts and styles and so much more.

Another 5 stars! Needed my roots touched up before my next scheduled appt. that I wouldn’t be able to make. Kaylene squeezed me in which I know has got to be very difficult on a Friday during the Holidays. I’m refreshed, looking and feeling great. I have to give my praises to her assistant Shaylene and Denise for the most awesome scalp massage while getting shampooed and a deep conditioning treatment. Thanks Kaylene and Massimo Salon!

I recently moved back to San Diego and needed a new hairstylist. I immediately contacted Kaylene since she has been doing hair for years and I happen to know her since middle school. I was donating my hair so I was coming for a drastic change (cut, color, highlights). I was not dissapointent! In fact I absolutely loved my entire experience. I put all my faith in Kaylene and she did not dissapoint. The cut was amazing and the color was absolutely perfect. Oh and the best part was the head massage when shampooing hair. Honestly you will not be disappointed with your experience there. Everyone is super friendly and I felt so comfortable with everyone.

Kaylene is an amazing hair professional and has been styling my hair for over 10 years. She truly listens to what I want in regards to cut and color and she makes it happen. I am always more than happy with the results. She has done ombré, full highlights, partial highlights, babylites, keratin treatment and she is talented at each service. The girls who wash my hair always give an amazing head massage. Salon Massimo is the best!

Be prepared for excellent service. Kaylene is the color queen, I always have people ask me where I get my hair done. It’s always a treat to get my hair and nails done at Salom Massimo and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Kaylene is absolutely wonderful! I have had my hair cut and highlighted by Kaylene for more than 5 years and have never once left anything but 100% happy with my hair! The scalp massages are amazing and all of the staff are very friendly. The prices are very in line with other SD spots but the results are so much better! My mom also has her hair done by Kaylene and has recommended Salon Massimo to several of her friends.

Talk about a hair stylest that loves doing what he is doing after all these years. Myself and lots of people (friends and family) i know go to Massimo Salon and see Alfonzo and they always have high remarks about his services. He is very friendly and they always do their best to fit you in even if it is a short notice. The team work is amazing. Before you know it, you are done and out of there. Some times the parking can be chalenging in La Jolla, but that does not stop me from going there. I have gotten haircuts, hair colors and styles many time with good and happy results. Alfonzo gives you his all, along with his staff. Small salon but mighty. I highly recommend you to go here for your Salon needs. they also do mani/​pedi too, which i only used once. Only because i play the piano and can’t wear my nails long to make them pretty. They use sanitized tools that is kept in a box under your name only. the lady is very sweet and friendly.

I have been coming to Salon Massimo since 1998! Alfonso and his team are excellent and very personable. They truly make the experience special. Kaylene is the best with color and Alfonso has a talent when it comes to his cuts. Your hair will thank you !!!

This place is superb! The salon itself is amazing and the staff are professional and extremely friendly. Kaylene is an artist when it comes to hair and I am impressed with her work every time I leave. I will never go anywhere else. I love this place!!!

After growing out an awful haircut for over a year, I relied on a friends recommendation to go to Massimo and get a haircut with Kaylene. I’m SO glad I went with her!!! She is so sweet and listens to EXACTLY what you want. Since I’m trying to grow out my hair, all I wanted her to do was to trim my hair up a bit and kind of fix the layers that a previous hair stylist had messed up. She did that PLUS, my hair actually looks longer and styles a lot better. This salon looks old and small at first, but once you’re sitting in your chair and you observe the people that come in and out, you can tell that they’re all regulars and have been coming for years. Kaylene has been there for ever and she does seem to run the show there. The other stylists were coming to her for direction and she is just on top of things. I look forward to coming here again. Lastly, they have the little Kierug coffee!!!

OMG, I don’t know where to start. I asked my most glamorous friend in the world to tell me where she got her beautiful locks, and she said to go see Angelo at Massimo Salon. I have super thick long hair, not loved by most stylists due to the time involved in getting it done. But I felt nothing but love from Angelo, Kaylene and Eve! Kaylene gave me a rich, gorgeous color, Eve washed my hair (and like someone else mentioned on here, the scalp massage is practically orgasmic), and Angelo gave me perhaps the best cut of my LIFE! I’m not gonna lie, it doesn’t hurt having a sexy Italian man cutting your hair! But that aside, I really have to tell everyone to just take my word for it and try this place. Oh, and the price of my color with highlights, cut, scalp massage with special conditioners, cut and style was a FRACTION of what I have paid elsewhere! I assume when you go to a La Jolla salon, you have to take out a second mortgage to pay for your services, but I actually felt guilty about how little they charged. Honestly, I’m really REALLY impressed.

I can’t believe it actually took me so long to write this.
I have been getting my hair done at Massimo Salon for about 3 years now.
I was very sceptical at first because EVERY single place I had gone to before here in California completely butchered my hair and always left me disappointed.
I decided I would only get my hair cut and colored once a year when I traveled back home (outside of the US).
Until I met Alfonso.
I gave it a try and I am hooked.
This place is awesome. Alfonso and his angels are absolutely great and Kaylene is amazing.

Stylist Kaylene is the best! She’s so great with color and cut! I’ve never found a stylists that rocks at both! I have been going to her for almost 5 yrs now and it just hit me at my wedding that I need to tell other brides/​women about her and her salon. She did my hair color the week before my wedding. Hit her up at the salon in La Jolla. Parking on the street in front is free. And be sure to book an appointment. The salon is owned by a really nice italian gentleman, but Kaylene totally runs the show there. She’s so cute and super nice. I highly recommend her!

I’ve been getting my hair done here for years by Kaylene. She is the BEST hairstylist around. She goes above and beyond my expectations every time. She always knows exactly what I want and when I don’t know what I want, she helps me figure it out. She has the popular feather extensions too, which I love! The whole staff is awesome. Alfonso is a «PG» Italian version of the «Zohan»! He really is such a genuine sweetie pie though. And Denise and Eve give great scalp massages when shampooing. Love that place.

A friend recommended them when my regular stylist moved to Las Vegas. Called and made an appointment on short notice. I couldn’t believe how busy the place was, yet everything was being handled very professionally. The cute gal that washed my hair included a scalp massage that was almost better than sex and Alfonso cut and styled my hair to perfection. When I was done, I decided to do a little window shopping over on Prospect St. then I went down to the bluffs at La Jolla Cove and enjoyed the ocean view. All in all, a great afternoon!

Kaylene is awesome at color and highlights and Alfonso is a maestro with scissors!
