Was in town for vacation and just stopped by to get a beard trim — Irv was personable, took his time, and only charged me six dollars for what I felt was a very enjoyable experience. Great conversation and I never felt rushed — he even cleaned up the back of my neck. I’ll definitely be back every time I’m in beautiful La Jolla.
There’s also something to say about a barber with a British accent. Felt like I was getting a shave in a cool Guy Ritchie movie from an iconic character! You definitely can’t get that at your local salon! Thanks Irv!

I have been a customer for 8 years and I have never had a bad hair cut. Besides consistently great results, the conversation never lags. I always walk out with a smile. Booking appointments is easy and Irv is always ready for me when I arrive.

I was visiting a friend in San Diego and decided to get a trim while I had some down time. Irv was nice enough to squeeze me in at the last minute on a Friday. He did a great job with the cut, and is an interesting guy to chat with.
On a side note, you can’t see the actual shop from the street so it’s easy to miss. It’s in the middle of the business center. Find parking, then walk to the middle of the center and it’s right there.

If you’re looking for a 10 min haircut, stick with Super Cuts. But, if you prefer the look of a well groomed professional, for the same price, you can come to Irv and have your hair cut by an Old World craftsman. Irv uses a comb and scissors with great attention to detail. He spends an hour on a haircut and beard trim, and the result is superb. I would gladly pay twice his price. He’s a gem.

Irv is simply amazing. I have been going from barber to barber in San Diego for more than 2 years… never being really happy with my haircuts. Today I had an appointment in front of Irv’s barber shop. I saw a simple sign, looked up his reviews and walked in. Irv takes his time and really has the experience of a master barber. I couldn’t be more pleased with my haircut. My husband has been told that he looks like Steve McQueen, so when he went to get a haircut recently he asked Irv, the owner of Headway Hair Studio, if he could get a «Steve McQueen» haircut. Well, sure enough, Irv said that even though it’s been a while since someone asked for the McQueen special, he actually had a ton of experience with that style. So I sat there and watched as Irv transformed my husband into a Steve McQueen look alike. Now I just need to go down to Banana Republic and get an old school turtleneck sweater and the transformation will be complete. Thanks, Irv, for a great haircut and some fun entertainment along the way.
