Since I moved to the San Diego area, I’ve had trouble finding a barber that knows how to deal with the idiosyncrasies of my hair…(stubborn cowlicks and a scar on the side of my head). I found this salon through Unilocal.My stylist James M was very friendly without being annoyingly chatty like other stylists I’ve encountered. After telling him that I wanted something that didn’t require a lot of fuss, or product, I gave him free reign over my hair. He delivered one of the best haircuts I’ve had in a long time. The salon is tastefully decorated and has a good ambiance that plays the type of music that I like. Kudos for the free drink while waiting. Next time I’ll get ask for something a little stronger than a diet coke.

Had an opportunity to attend an event here and was very impressed with their commitment to providing an unforgettable experience that all men should have. It’s a very inviting and comfortable spa. Great location with underground parking. Great gift idea, have already recommended their services to others.

I first encountered ¹⁸⁄₈ in December when I relocated to San Diego from Boston. Usual angst about finding new doctors, dentists, and most importantly someplace to get my hair cut. I stumbled across ¹⁸⁄₈ in La Jolla for no reason other than it looked like a decent place from the web site and it was not too far to get to. Probably one of the best stumbles I’ve had. The place is amazing. It’s more than a place to get your hair cut. It’s not too over the top to say it’s a sanctuary for guys who want A+ service without feeling like a fifth wheel at most salons where you’re probably the only male. Want a facial, waxing, shave, get rid of the grey without being judged this is the place. At the La Jolla location I was scheduled with James for my initial appointment. He really enjoys what he does and over the time since I first came in I honestly have to say it’s the best combination of results (best haircut ever) and comradery. Warning: When you go you’ll get spoiled.

While visiting La Jolla from the Bay Area I needed a haircut. I was fortunate to be referred to ⁸⁄₁₈. From the moment I walked in the door I knew I was going to have a great experience. Stylist James MacCormack listened to what I wanted and gave me a great cut and style that I was very happy with. The cut also came with a relaxing shoulder and scalp massage. After the haircut I had some extra time so I also treated myself to a rejuvenating facial that left me feeling like a million bucks. The salon itself is well designed with ocean views and an outdoor patio. The rest of the staff is very friendly and professional. There’s also free underground parking and several great places to eat in the neighborhood to round out your day of self-​indulgence. I highly recommend this great men’s salon.

Visiting the La Jolla area from San Francisco I was desperate to find a men’s salon that could address my special beard needs. I not only needed a stylist, but a talented colorist as well. James MacCormack was my man. He’s an extremely talented artist at what he does and I was thrilled to find him. And prepare to be entertained. James is not only the consummate professional, but charming and funny. The salon itself is cheerful and bright much like the staff themselves. There is plenty of covered parking and the salon is dog friendly. Including a beautiful patio with an ocean view for your furry friends to relax while you enjoy the array of professional men’s services. Mine was a beard cut and coloring, and a refreshing facial. I highly recommend a day at this salon. You will not regret it.

I recently had my first haircut at the ¹⁸⁄₈ la jolla location. What an impressive building in downtown la jolla close to the beach! The lobby is clean, well lit and full of products, including complimentary beverages. My appointment was with Nicole who was extremely professional, entertaining and very good at her craft. Nicole gave me the exact cut and style that I was looking for! Very pleased with the overall service and feel of the ¹⁸⁄₈ salon, they have certainly earned my repeat business.

This is BY FAR one of the finest and most comfortable salon experiences I’ve ever had. They made the other customers and I feel 100% relaxed and it wasn’t at all ‘snooty’ like some of the OTHER La Jolla businesses. Nicole, in particular, is an obvious pro… no rush, all friendly and attentive to details, excellent haircut. The whole service, from end to end, was very smooth. If you’re looking for a top notch experience at a great price then I strongly recommend requesting Nicole at this location. You won’t regret it!

FIrst time client at the salon… and I loved it. Very upscale, yet casual and comfortable. Having a glass of wine with my styling was fabulous… although I should have had the coffee because the 10 minute massage on my shoulder and neck given by Nicole, was DIVINE… it put me to sleep afterward while she was cutting my hair! I was soo relaxed. Nicole performed a flawless cut and color on my hair… JUST right, and wanted my neck hair (!!!) done right and took extra attention to making sure I was groomed properly! A wonderful salon… definitely a Market for it… the staff, facilities, and stylist Nicole were all more than pleasant. A little pricey FOR MY BUDGET… so I may not use them all of the time… but definitely will be one of my «go to» hair places! They have great maintenance programs and packages too… ! Nicole Christians did a great job on my haircut. They have free drinks there, beer, coffee, soda. You get a neck massage. Very nice place and Nicole really knows what she’s doing.

Came in to see James and was not disappointed at all. I wanted to make a change to my style for my profession and James knew exactly what I needed. He is really professional and knowledgable. If you just need the freshen up your cut or want to try something new you can trust James to get you handled.

LOVE this salon! I used to go to Supercuts until I got a haircut from James MacCormack. What a difference it makes. I have a completely new hairstyle that you really can’t get from other run-​of-​the-​mill type places. From the front desk ladies to the patio to the free beer (especially THAT one!), this place is well worth it.

I’ve been to other ¹⁸⁄₈ locations and this one is very well put together. The location is beautiful and right next to the ocean. Great place.
They have a barber named Lane and the shave he gave me was out of this world. I didn’t think I would be any more happy after the shave but then Rebecca cut and styled my hair and I was over the moon. Definitely a place you need to visit.

The haircut was great and they have a large choice of refreshments including beer on tap. My schedule is busy so I am glad they are open 7 days a week.
The location is a bonus, they are right across the street from the Lamborghini, Bentley and the Rolls-​Royce dealers. Very Classy.

Very pleasant and professional place for mens’ haircuts and grooming.
Honestly, I’ve never had more (many) compliments after any haircut than this one.
Stylist Zenda was very spot on with cutting and styling my hair.
The steamed towel scented with bay rum at the end of the haircut was perfect.
I also had a neck and shoulder massage before the shampoo and haircut — very relaxing.
Honestly, I was a little reluctant to move on from the standard barbershop experience to
a higher level of service. It was great! Nothing «foofie» about it at all. It’s a men’s salon — No blue haired ladies with tin foil and curlers in the next bay ;-)
More expensive than a barber shop but worth it for all the extras and all the compliments
that followed a great haircut.

I have had two great haircuts from Tori here! She took her time to make sure I got what I wanted and both cuts were consistent. The place is brand new so it’s clean and the service is excellent. The massages and shampoos are extremely relaxing and you get a robe to put on that keeps the hair off of your body and clothes which is a nice touch. This is a higher end salon for men only so be prepared to pay around $ 40-​$ 50 for a haircut. It’s definitely worth it for the experience.
Ask for Tori if you want the best experience! She’s great :)

At first, I must say that I was skeptical of getting my haircut here. I work extremely close with a few local businesses in the area, and noticed the sign go up a couple of months ago. I finally got enough courage to go in (as I only let one person touch my hair). The experience I had was amazing.
From the start, they had it right! Making sure that I was comfortable, offering me with a drink to relax, then from there, changing into the robes that they have in the changing room! The stylist, asked me all the right questions, and messed around with my hair a bit to make sure it was the cut that I wanted. She then processed to wash my hair and gave me a scalp massage, almost had me in my chair sleeping. From there, she massaged my neck with her hands and hot rocks, talk about a stress reliever! After she was done cutting my hair, I got yet another scalp massage and wash! After styling my hair and showing me the results, I knew this would be my new go-​to location!
The experience from start to finish rivals those of some of the finer salons I have visited around the world.
Oh, did I mention it’s a man’s salon only? None of the girly fufu stuff to get in the way!
