My wife and I went here with another couple to take advantage of the happy hour menu. This happy hour is one of the best deals in San Diego. We enjoyed several gourmet style appetizers followed by a decadent«chocolate bag» desert. The mixed drinks were tasty as well. The overall service was excellent. They even had a live music lounge singer and musician that played awesome songs from the 70’s. Great atmosphere. The price was a bargain deal. What are you all waiting for, get down there and get in on this treat before it goes away! Happy Hour at Flemmings. Woot Woot.

My girlfriend(woohoo!) surprised me by taking me here for my birthday(double woohoo!). It was a great experience. I did order a medium well steak where I should have done medium. People, go with medium. I know the steak here can taste so good if I ordered medium. That won’t go against them in this review. Service was great, and got a little present at the end from them also. To the food: Filet Mignon — I don’t remember if I ordered the main or the petite. I also paired it with Diablo shrimp. Come to think of it, I think the companions are unnecessary, as they just dump the things onto the steak. Steak was awesome, and would be even better if i ordered medium(kicking myself because of that). Shrimp was a little lacking considering the price; a little small portioned. Wagyu New York Strip — So good. Thinking of it, I’m salivating right now. She got it medium(smart woman), with poached lobster(falling for it like me). Now, I think we’ve established this place has good steak, so I don’t even need to say. The steak companion, however, still the same here. Small portioned, and just decent but no real punch. I know it’s meant to be a small side dish, but they aren’t quite up to par. Creamed Spinach — Living with a spinach aficionado, we couldn’t pass this up. Very cheesy, and great dish. I would say pair it with their bread, as it may be a little salty for some people. Lobster bisque — A little lack-luster soup. I mean, it is good, but not a strong flavor to it. Who can blame them, they are famous for steak not lobster. It’s a great place for a nice classy dinner, and even a celebration. Servers were great, and the steaks were even better. They get 5 stars for the steak alone. Yes, they are that good. The sides and other meals can be better(not that they are bad, it’s just not as enticing).

…just fyi. Make sure you’re dressed in proper attire if you’re having lunch at Fleming ‘s Steakhouse. Otherwise you may experience what my family did when we went. We’re a laid back bunch, always in slippers and shorts usually with wet hair or a cap. So going to lunch wasn’t going to be any different whether it was at Taco Bell or at a fancy steakhouse. However, if we’re going to pay a little extra at a Prime Steakhouse, at least give us good service no matter what we look like, and especially because we have children. Nope. The minute we walked in, it was like the scene from«Pretty Woman» except I didn’t look like a hooker. Instead of welcoming us to their fine establishment, the hostess asked me if I needed help. As if I were lost or something. So I just looked at her, and thank God my husband was busy trying to get our double wide stroller through the door, because if he would’ve seen and heard the girl’s actions, he would’ve had a few choice words for her. But I bit my tongue and asked if we could sit in the patio and she quickly replied«good choice» . Really? So I bit my tongue some more. As we were waiting for our meal we noticed that we were the only ones eating in the patio area, and that one of the servers was guarding the exit gate. Like we were going to dine and dash. At first we thought she was taking a break, but she sat there until we were done eating and paid for the bill. Thank goodness our waitress was awesome, she was very attentive to our boys. However, towards the end of our meal, as I was taking a bight, I ended up pulling a piece of plastic out of my mouth. Our waitress saw it and quickly grabbed it from my hand and apologized and said she’ll take care of it, I told her : ” I don’t want anything. Just make sure your cooks know, because it may happen to the wrong person next time« At that point, I was over Fleming’s. I just wanted my husband to enjoy his Father’s Day. As the waitress gave us our bill, she let us know that a few things were deducted. We said thank you and we gave her the difference as a tip. But just when I thought that my husband didn’t notice all the rudeness that was going on, he says : «Thanks for being so kind to us, your other co-workers weren’t so nice« We proceeded to leave, then hostess who asked if I needed help comes running out giving us a $ 25 gift card. We smile and say«thank you«. Am I gonna use that gift card? Of course!!! To wipe my Son’s ass!!! *this is just my review on their service. Their food is just ok. I can say it’s like an overpriced Yard House.

Great food, excellent service. This is the 2nd time Adam(bar area server) helped us for the evening. Very knowledgeable, went above and beyond. Prime burger is the absolute best. I love it paired with a glass of red. Some of the servers honestly don’t look like they want to give you the time of day in the bar area but Adam was the best.

Nice place for a good steak. My steak was cooked to perfection. The crème brûlée was fantastic. Service was a tad slow but friendly. Nice ambiance and the place was busy for a Wednesday night! FYI valet parking was $ 9.00, you can self park, I wish I would have known that.

Ahh Fleming’s! Truly, this IS a Steakhouse, beyond compare! We’ve been coming to this Fleming’s location in UTC/La Jolla for several years now and have never, ever, been disappointed! It deserves a much accoladed 5 Stars when it comes to food, service, atmosphere, and consistency. It really is a «special occasion» restaurant, and we always try to make it a full on dining experience here, even though we’ve seen people seated dressed in shorts and flip flops for dinner, sigh. That said, the staff is still very welcoming, to all! Fleming’s is one of the few places in SD that offers«Dry Aged Prime» beef. And, for those of you who are not familiar with«Dry Aging” — «For dry-aging, whole sides of beef or primal cuts are hung in open air at a temperature just above freezing and left to age for several weeks. Not only are the enzymes working on the muscle tissues during this time, but the meat is also slowly dehydrating. This concentrates the meat and changes the texture and flavor. The benefit of this process is very tender meat with an intense flavor. « The nutty flavor of the beef is amazing and well worth the price! This past Saturday we took my awesome friend Steph L. to Fleming’s for her birthday dinner. Our server this time was the truly BRILLIANT«Brian H.». He totally knew his stuff and was patient, insightful, knowledgeable, courteous, and most of all, fun to talk to! He totally ROCKED! And, of course, we ordered our usual stand-by’s and tried some new ones– Lobster Tempura– Hella YUM! Always GREAT! Crab Cakes– Out Of This World! These were beyond DELICIOUS! Bloomsdale Spinach Salad– OUTSTANDING! Seasoned delicately with truffle oil, FTW! A GREAT recommendation by our awesome Server Brian H. Dry Aged Prime Bone-In Filet– Off menu, you have to ask for it, and you won’t be sorry you did! Dry Aged Prime Ribeye– A beef lover’s Paradise!!!(don’t forget to add the ‘Truffled Poached Lobster’ as a steak companion) Lobster Mac & Cheese– Need I say more?! Lobster Mashed Potatoes– HOLLA!!! The only dish that disappointed this time was the Grilled Asparagus. It was over-grilled, tough, and the untrimmed bottom ends were cardboard hard and inedible. Oh Well! As for dessert, shoot for the Chocolate Lava Cake if you still have room, if not, the Sorbet is light and fantastic! Many thanks of yet another awesome 5 Star dining experience Fleming’s! PS– Fleming’s Steakhouse La Jolla now offers Sunday Brunch! We’ll be back, very soon! I can hardly wait!!!

AWESOMEHAPPYHOUR! I came here last night with my coworkers for Happy Hour! I’ve been eyeing this place for quite some time so I was thrilled to finally have the chance to try it out! Happy Hour is from 5−7pm and their selection starts at $ 6. They have bar seating and they also have ample patio seating. What we ordered: Housemade Burrata $ 6: This was delicious! It comes with a few slices of baguette. We ended up getting two orders of this because it was really good! Pan-Crisped Pork Belly $ 7– This was nice and FATTY! They serve you three small squares of meat. It tasted great and I would get it again, but if I had to pick a pork belly dish I would suggest Carnitas Snack Shack Pork Belly App. Sweet Chili Calamari $ 7-The calamari was okay I just hate how they didn’t have tartar sauce. Boo :( Chocolate Lava Cake $ 14.50– Super expensive for a small piece of cake but it was MAJESTICAL! They serve it with two small scoops of vanilla ice cream and chantilly cream(fancy people term for whipped cream) I wish they gave you a whole cake for that price! I would highly suggest saving room for this! Their servers were great! Our waitress was really attentive and we didn’t have to ask twice for anything and she was on top of refills. I would love to come back here for dinner with my baby daddy next time! TEEHEEGIGGLES :)

We came here for dinner last night. Convenient location and easy to park. SERVICE — Our server was Michael C. He was phenomenal! Such a sweetheart. He was very friendly and made you feel welcomed. He definitely takes care of you and checks on you often. The other serves that brought is water and bread were nice as well. FOOD — Complimentary Bread: I believe they said this was parmesan bread? It came out nice and warm. There were two different butters that they brought out. I forget the names but we did not like the orange colored one. — Certified Angus Beef Hanger Steak: This was pretty tasty. I thought Chilaquiles was interesting for a steak dinner but it gave it a different feel. It had more of a Mexican flavor so we took home the leftover steak to eat it with tacos tonight. Not bad but it would not be my go-to choice. — Prime Bone-In Ribeye: This was cooked to perfection. Simple yet very flavorful. Nice and juicy steak. — Chipotle Cheddar Macaroni & Cheese: Our waiter Michael, recommended this and we loved it. It had a creamy and smooth texture. Nicely cooked pasta with a nice crunch with the breadcrumbs on top. — Cream Spinach: Good flavor. Can’t go wrong with this. We had a lovely experience here. The service was spectacular and the food was good.

Cows graze in the day By the side of old highways Now in steakhouses. Flemings. My fav spot to get a steak in my neighborhood. I’ve been coming here for years for the wet aged filet mignon. So tender you think it will melt in your mouth. Minimally seasoned with salt and pepper the flavor of the meat comes through strong. Recently I decided I want to try some of the ribeye steaks. Wet aged prime ribeye cooked medium was tender and juicy. Beef had delicious flavor with an assist from the salt and pepper. There was a real nice crust from the pepper on this steak. Dry aged prime ribeye was a bit more expensive than the wet aged ribeye. Ordered medium it was tender and juicy. Best steak I have ever had here. Dry aging process made the steak close to melt in your mouth tender and had richer flavors than that of the wet aged ribeye steak. Less pepper flavor and more beef flavor. Tempura lobster had a crunchy batter and delicious fried lobster. Would have been heavenly if they had a thinner tempura batter like that used on the tempura shrimp at Ki Sushi. Crème brûlée had a sweet crunchy top crust. Vanilla custard underneath had a sweet vanilla flavor. Tied for best crème brûlée I have had in San Diego with Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Our booth was very cushy and the service was excellent. Park at the Hyatt and you get free validation. I hear they are going to have a 22oz Tomahawk ribeye steak for Father’s Day. So tempting…

Liza was out server and she is awesome. Hubby and I are celebrating his new job at Qualcomm and decided to have some steak. We started with Fleming’s salads, which were yummy. I had a Farmer’s Daughter martini and Hubby had beer. The only bad thing I can say about the drink was that it was too small. Why are martinis so small? Anyway. I had wine after that, lots of wine. For entrée I had the petite filet mignon, which was so good. It had a tasty crust and a wonderful sauce. Cooked almost perfectly. Hubby had ribeye and he loved it except there were a couple of fatty parts, but I guess that’s what you get when you order anything other than file mignon. We shared sautéed mushrooms, and as I am a mushroom fanatic, I loved them! Liza brought us some chocolate truffles to celebrate the new job. Parking is no problem as they have valet. This was our second visit, but definitely not our last! Great dinner, we will be back!

We’ve not been to Fleming’s before, but based on the overall good reviews, we thought it would be worth trying. Our experience will likely not lead to a return visit. We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation — not more than about 10 which most restaurants account for. Almost immediately upon seating, our server, Avery, approached us and asked us for our drink orders. Unsure of our choices as we just arrived, we ordered two waters and were left with an iPad with the wine list. A short time later Avery returned for our orders, which had still not been decided upon. An assistant brought us bread(wonderfully fresh with two delightful butters) and our waters. Avery returned and we placed our orders for two petite filets, grilled asparagus, and Fleming’s potatoes. I asked for a recommendation for a merlot and naturally Avery’s favorite was the most expensive on the list. She then also offered a selection near the bottom of the price list with no further explanations or recommendations. After taking another look, I noticed a Bordeaux region wine, which turned out amazingly well with my filet. Our steaks were a perfectly prepared medium rare, which one would expect, although my wife’s had a bit of gristle running through it, which is not totally unexpected with a filet. She had the Porcini Mushroom rub which she enjoyed. I had the Bearnaise sauce, which wasn’t bad, but there wasn’t enough to last as long as the steak did. Fleming’s potatoes were their version of au gratin potatoes with a slight amount of jalapeño. Nice but not exceptional. The grilled asparagus would have been exceptional had it been properly trimmed. Flavorful, fresh, and nicely seasoned, the grilled asparagus was wonderful, except for the woody stems. Trim a couple more inches off and these would have been ideal. A shared crème brûlée and coffee finished out the meal. The dessert was nicely done, served with freshly whipped cream and a fresh berry garnish. So why three stars? Once Avery had our order, we saw little of her until she wanted us to order more — the dessert special, or dessert after our meal. And once she dropped off our check she took awhile to retrieve it. In most other restaurants, this would have been at least a four star review based on the generally above average food. But for $ 168(tax but not tip included), I can’t really call this a four star experience. On to the next one!

My husband and I went for a dinner date last night and it was fantastic! We had the lobster Mac and cheese, Newport filet mignon, aged steak, Caesar salad and lava cake. Their bread and champagne infused spread and smoked spread was also very good. I just didn’t want to get full off the bread so I had to stop myself. Lol. The lobster Mac and cheese is a dish I tend to order at different restaurants when available and this one here was the best I’ve ever had. Our server was funny and very fast. Service overall was amazing. The lava cake was moist and delicious. It came with a nice side of cream and also ice cream. My husband and I will definitely be returning!

Service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Our server was Micheal C, very friendly and tentative. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner, and received a special gift(truffles). I ordered the petite filet mignon and hubby ordered the rib eye, both cooked the way we wanted. Dessert was scrumptious! We got the crème brûlée, with fruit on rop, and the chocolate lava cake, which is made to order and takes about 15 minutes. We would gladly come back! … I’m so stuffed!

We celebrated our 45th monthaversary here! I’ve been to this establishment once before many years ago, but didn’t even know there was another location downtown. FYI, they validate your parking for 3 hours if you park at the parking garage next to the hotel across the plaza. This steakhouse is like many others where the lighting is dim and décor is elegant. Upon arriving we received a card and two glasses of champagne on the house. It was fun to pick our wine from an iPad, but we ended up ordering a bottle of the Ruffino moscato, based on our server’s suggestion. It was exactly what we were looking for– very sweet and aromatic… It paired perfectly with everything we ate last night. We were also given complimentary bread with a cheesy spread as well as a spicier dip. My boyfriend was surprised that I liked the cheese dip so much. Both of us wanted to get filet and lobster duo. This special comes with an amuse bouche which included a crab empanada for each person, and a starter(we chose the wedge and Caesar salad.) The empanada was surprisingly good– I loved the combination of the sweet corn and poblano cream sauce they added to the plate. The modern Caesar salad was pretty tasty too. They even lit a couple candles to warm the butter sauce and ask if you want your lobster de shelled right when we received our entrees. My steak had a nice crispy crust since I asked them to prepare it their special way and the lobster tail was delicious as well. Our side of creamed spinach was large in portion and had a nice kick to it By now, I was pretty stuffed, but saved room for dessert of course. We shared the chocolate lava cake, which needs to be ordered in advance since it takes about 15? minutes to make. This dessert was so pretty and so scrumptious! The chocolate was not overly sweet and it came with ice cream a cookie, which made for a nice crunchy texture. I had an exceptional experience and the service and ambiance was excellent! The manager checked up on us often and even helped out occasionally… Our server was also very friendly and attentive. We ended spending twice as much as we intended to, but it was worth it. I heard their happy hours specials are really great, so I’ll have to check that out next time.

We are big fans of Fleming’s. We visit about ten to twelve times a year. Everything was fine the last time we were here, but there were a few issues. The server was a little underwhelming and her service was lackluster. She did not check back often and we were often looking around for her. We didn’t necessarily have a problem with our meals, but they seemed a little flavorless. I’m used to big flavor in my steak and the Fleming’s Potatoes weren’t as piping hot as normal. The potatoes also didn’t have much of a crust, and that’s the yummiest part. The server told us several times to order the lava cake with enough time to cook it(we have ordered this every single time we have come), and we did so. It came to the table and it was dry and didn’t have the runny center oozing out. I am going to chalk this up to an off night and will still be returning. However, if this happens again I will have to reconsider this being our go-to steak place. I hope that doesn’t happen.

This place is really awesome! We went here with family last night and had a really good time. Parking is kind of a pain unless you valet. So i would suggest utilizing the valet here. Both my wife and i had the happy hour $ 10 burger which was outstanding. It came with bacon and i got mine with blue cheese. It also came with a small batch of fries. I cant remember the name of the appetizer we got but it consisted of potato chips with super yummy shrimp and a lot of sauce. I think this was also on the happy hour menu. I closed out the meal with the crème brûlée which was off the hook with tastiness. In the past I’ve always gone big at flemings with steak and lobster because they had a really killer deal during restaurant week which got me a top shelf steak and lobster for around $ 30. Bottom line is that flemings, no matter which one you go to(in my experience) is a high end restaurant which seems to have killer deals for happy hour and restaurant week. I have never been for a «normal» priced meal here but id say all the food I’ve had was worth at least twice what i paid for it.

update =) since my last review… Flemings has introduced a new later night HH… if you know me… i love HH! i prefer to have a few small plates rather than 1 large plate. the way we do HH, I end up spending about the same as i would have on dinner… but this is so much more fun! in the past few years… I have had an annivesary dinner here… amazing! treated amazing! food was amazing! one of us did the prix fixed menu and the other ordered a ala carte and we shared… mmm mmm good. i have been to a private party where they were launching their new wine list and we were able to sample all of them(which was not possible because there were so many!) seriously one bar of bubbles… another bar of whites and 2 bar set ups of reds… with about 10 different bottles at each bar… tray passed apps… super generous! fries, crab legs, sliders, calamari… and it just kept coming! another private party that was introducing the late night HH…2 different cocktails to choose from… about 6 different wines(sparkling, white, red) to choose from… and samples of all the late night apps… a few HH’s too… did the late night one once… and the earlier one 2 – 3 times… amazing every time! if you do the late night HH… try the top shelf flight of wine… I will do that every time! also make sure to get the ahi tacos and the empanadas… you won’t be sorry if you’re at the early HH… burger!!! the ravioli is amazing and the burrata oh and the calamari! yum i would come here even more… but Ruth Chris is closer to me and so much easier in rush hour traffic… but i would rather be at Flemings. if you don’t want to valet… park in the garage and they will validate… or you can search for street parking

Fleming’s was delicious! «Bottled water or tap water?» Uhh… Tap. water. Although I taste the difference between bottled and tap water, I could never bring myself to actually say«Bottled water, please» I’m not sure why, but anyway… Let’s talk about food. As with all my other Southern California trips, I tend to stuff myself with lots of good food before I return to the northern part of California. Unsurprisingly, I ended up with a filet mignon, which totally did not disappoint! My friends ordered themselves a nice large piece of steak each, and the 3 of us split some appetizers and desserts. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, not too raw/bloody and not too overcooked. the sauce was prepared well and marinated the steak completely. I think they were having a combo special at the time where you could order the main dish + dessert for a set price so we ended up with dessert. I can’t recall it being super memorable, but I believe if I wasn’t so full already at the end of all the food that day, it probably would have left a better impression, considering most of the other foods we had that day were absolutely delicious. Service was really good and the restaurant was filled with soft murmurs of conversation while the waiters visited us somewhat frequently. Going to dine at Fleming’s was sort of a last minute decision, so none of us had proper fine-dining attire — luckily, we weren’t turned away and were treated the same as other diners. Kudos to that!

Came here to expense a holiday meal from my work and I did NOT regret it! Parking is obviously always tricky since it’s downtown but you always have the option of valet. The service was impeccable-great wait staff, very informative and honest! We were also celebrating my sister’s recent engagement and they made it such a special meal for us! Complimentary champagne as well as chocolates and a gift receipt to come back(most definitely will!). The food was delicious as well. We all obviously ordered steak(it’s a steakhouse!) and the only thing was that my steak was a bit over cooked. It’s a pretty fancy restaurant so I would suggest dressing up a bit and the prices are a bit high but worth the quality AND the quantity you get here. Job well done Fleming’s!

If you’re in the mood for a good steak that’s not gonna put a big hole in your wallet, I suggest going to Flemings. On our recent visit, we ordered the main filet mignon with porcini mushroom rub, the other was black and white peppercorn with F17 sauce and sides to share — truffle parsley mashed potatoes and chipotle cheddar mac n cheese. We only eat our filets black and blue aka Pittsburgh style; and with a filet, it’s like beef sushi! Anyways, our steaks came out beautifully. I usually don’t finish my steak however this time, I kinda almost did LOL — I gave the other quarter to DH. Sides were as always on point as well. I was thankful that the pasta for mac n cheese was still al dente. We were so full and skipped dessert. Our server gave us truffles to enjoy instead, so nice of him :) I know for a fact that we will definitely be back. Just make sure to make reservation as they do get busy. I’ve been to this location for happy hour and depending on the weather, they open up the patio and still get HH deals.

B. Buttons and I… aka BFF came here two weeks ago during San Diego’s restaurant week located next to the melting pot and Trulucks. They had a three course Prix Fix menu. I ordered the Filet Mignon with the truffle mashed potatoes… yes please! Along with the strawberry cheesecake for desert. He ordered the DOUBLE-THICKPORKRIBCHOP* julienne of apples and jicama, apple cider and creole mustard glaze with a side of cream spinach. I am still dreaming of this meal… melted in my mouth! Romantic atmosphere perfect for date night, valet parking is $ 8, come with cash.

Came here for happy hour with my boyfriend and fell in love with the specials. Appetizers for $ 6, what a steal. We left completely full. The blueberry lemon drop was delicious. It might be the best cocktail drink I’ve tried so far. I would recommend EVERYTHING on the appetizer list for HH: + tenderloin carpaccio + sweet chile calamari + pan crisped pork belly + prime rib burger I plan to come back to take advantage of this sweet deal. Delicious food for a good price.

3.5 stars Finally came for happy hour with some coworkers. The bar area seemed to be full, but there were a lot of open tables outside on the back patio. I got the infamous Happy Hour burger(medium) with cheddar cheese and bacon($ 7) with a small amount of fries. The burger is on the smaller side, but its a pretty good deal for being a high end steak house like Flemings. The burger was good not great, the bun looked to be made in house, the burger itself was good, tender but it was pretty plain no mayo mustard, or ketchup, i guess they are all provided on the table so you’re supposed to add them yourself. I wish there was some sort of aioli or something to make it special. But for a barebones burger it was good, i think if you added just a little to it it could be great. Maybe add a fried egg, mushrooms, avocado, some sort of special sauce or something to jazz it up. I liked the hand cut fries, though like the burger i wish there were more. We also ordered the sweet chili calamari from their 5 for $ 6 till 7pm menu. It was a pretty good amount, it was fried then tossed with a sort of sweet sour sauce with some bell peppers and some sort of pickles. I liked the mild sweet chili sauce it wasn’t too overpowering and still left enough crunch to the calamari. I also got their $ 3 beer special Leinenkugel summer shandy, a very light beer mixed with lemonade. It reminded me of an Arnold Palmer(half lemonade half iced tea) very light and refreshing with a mild lemon tast to it. If you know me, I’m a light weight when it comes to drinking, but I could probably have a few of these because its so light. After my beer i wanted to try one of their 5 for $ 6 till 7 cocktails. I decided on the Blueberry Lemon Drop, i knew it was going to be a fufu drink but i still wanted to give it a go. It came with a sugar rim which made it sweeter than it already was, which was fine. It was delicious and yummy like drinking a blueberry lemonade jolly rancher. $ 6 for a cocktail at a high end place like Flemings is a great deal. Happy Hour here runs from 5 — 7 everyday of the week, I liked the atmosphere here its pretty chill and relaxed, you could even come here by yourself. They also have a later happy hour, 8(items) for $ 9 till 10, The short rib empanadas on that menu sound delicious. I’m gonna have to give that one a try next time. Also don’t forget to ask for(complementary) bar chips, they are fried in house potato chips. They are crispy, a bit oily but close to kettle chips. They don’t always offer them up but they are free so don’t be afraid to ask. Over all i thought the specials on the food were decent, I was more impressed with the drink specials and as always Flemings has great service.
