I believe they changed their name but seems similar to prior reviews. My wive loved her mango mimosa I had as spicy Bloody Mary. My omelette had blue cheese! Plus snitch and bacon and not over cooked, the mark of an expert cook. She had yoghurt and fruit. Fruit was well chosen, very fresh. Lots of folks reading books, petting their dogs, nice little outdoor oasis.

Walking into the open air courtyard, we were greated by friendly staff and made to feel quite at home. The area is pet friendly and reminds the family of France. First, the coffee and espresso at the restaurant are quite good. My café americano was smooth and lacked bitterness; a sign tof them not cooking my coffee. For breakfast, I recommend the benedict. The dish was tasteful and quite filling. The hollandaise sauce was made from scratch and the muffin were freshly baked. The omlets are quite good. The most suprising dish was the chicken strips that was ordered well before the lunch hour. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The crust was light and was seasoned to reinforce the flavor of the chicken. It was not a dish that came frozen and the cook dropped them into hot oil. The restaurant is a place we plan to take visiting family and friends. It has the right feel if you are looking for a nice neighborhood café to have good food and a quite moment.

The location is nice, the food is alright, Benedict was over cooked. Id stick with the sweet stuff for breakfast next time if there is a next time. The service here is super slow. Suuuuuuper slow. And yet somehow we seen parties that came in after us get their food/order before ours. We’re only a party of 2, so that was pretty irritating. I really hate to write semi bad reviews especially when the scenery and location of this place is nice. Also, funny thing was that they where so fast to bring and collect the bill! –______–

The food here was really good. I had some type of salmon thing for lunch. Very impressed. Service was a little slow. Took forever to get our beer. She said she was waiting on the bartender. Still no excuse, especially since it wasn’t busy. 2 stars for service. 4 stars for food.

Came here for lunch after snorkeling/kayaking. It’s a very cute and small place. The service was very friendly and their food is quite delicious. I had a salmon dish that had veggies and quinoa. The salmon was cooked to perfection! Not dry at all which is what it’s supposed to be. The other two people I went with had French onion soup and an ahi tuna salad. Both were equally delightful. Definitely a place I would go back to.

I come here for breakfast all the time and I love it! Café Solange is an adorable little restaurant that offers delicious breakfast, pastries, and coffee. Their omelettes are really good. Get something from the bakery or else you will regret leaving without getting something from the bakery(they have all the basics). It’s pet friendly! — I recently came back for lunch and had the fish tacos. No surprises, they were delicious. They were serving salmon that day, but the fish varies. You can substitute the beans for salad, but the beans are pretty good here. I went to the dinner preview tonight(7÷30÷15), and I’m excited for the new meals Solange will offer in the future.

One of the best breakfast spots in La Jolla! Very ambient location. Courteous service and very attentive. Although it wasn’t entirely busy the morning I ate here I doubt it would have been any different during a rush. The food and pastries were absolutely fantastic. If you’re ever in the area for breakfast either try the eggs potatoes(hashbrowns) and bacon or the original french toast. Both did not disappoint. Make sure you ask for crispy hashbrowns and bacon because it makes all the difference. The eggs… get them scrambled. I know it’s a simple item, but I can’t tell you how many times they’ve been served rubbery and dry. These eggs were fluffy and cooked to perfection which in my opinion makes them taste extremely better.

We returned with friends a few weeks later. Got here early for breakfast on a cloudy morning. Manager/waiter was talkative, explaining about their remodeling the bakery area and inside dining room. Good service overall as usual. My wife had a burrito that was a little disappointing, but she should have ordered something else. It’s okay to try different items and learn from the experiences. I had eggs with potatoes and a croissant. Eggs were perfect, roasted potatoes were not quite as good as the hash browns previously, and croissant was delicious. Of all the restaurant food we ate during two recent trips to La Jolla, this little place at the Shores consistently serves the best breakfast in La Jolla. Very dog friendly too. After eating we walked quickly down to the beach for a few minutes of running our little pooch in the sand before the 9:00 a.m. curfew. The beach was loaded with day trippers starting out their kayak trips. Long live La Jolla Shores.

Stopped by here for breakfast before our kayak and snorkeling tour. I ordered the egg whites, bacon and garlic potatoes. The most impressive part of the breakfast was the potatoes. They were the best home cooked potatoes I have had in a very long time. I was truly impressed. The atmosphere was very laid back and was all outside seating which I enjoyed. The staff was very friendly as well. The menu was full of delicious items but I didn’t want to order anything too filling before my kayak tour, hence ordering the simple breakfast which did not disappoint.

It was a Friday morning and three of us went to Café Solange for Breakfast. This is a nice looking outdoor spot that is in La Jolla. We were told we could sit anywhere we would like. We found a nice table and sat down. And waited. And waited. It took a long time(over five minutes) before anyone came over and asked what we would like to drink. Then it took an equally long time before we were asked for our food order. After we placed our order, it took a long time 20 minutes or more before our food came out. We ordered an omelet, Chicken and Waffles and Biscuits and Gravy. My Chicken and Waffles were very delicious. The Biscuits and Gravy was also good. The Omelet was good at times and way too salty in other places. The wait staff was friendly, the food was good and the location was nice. I would go back to give it a try again; however, I can’t really say yet that I am a fan. Thank you.

Wandered into this café in La Jolla Shores cause I was in the neighbourhood. It was pretty busy, but there was no wait and seemed quite popular. The hostess was out front and the menu clearly posted. There was a brunch and lunch menu, wine menu, kids menu and an assortment of desserts. Some to go items(desserts, baked goods and quiche). The place is really nice, located in an outdoor enclosed courtyard, comfortable and quaint. Good for an intimate couples breakfast or a small group too. They brought us a booster chair for the toddler(careful, it tipped over really easy! but the staff was quick to help), but also had large wooden high chairs. The restroom was conveniently located inside and from there you could see into the kitchen where everyone was super busy cooking obviously from scratch and fresh to order. The service was outstanding. Everyone was nice and friendly, accommodating to special requests, pretty fast and quick to fix any oversights that were obviously a result of them being pretty busy. The menu was diverse. It states that its French but there was a good assortment of breakfast, brunch, and lunch items. Quiche, egg dishes, salads, pasta, appetizers. A couple daily specials were posted. Not the most inventive menu, but still really varied and with great options, mix and match and great quality ingredients. They gave us a good kid’s menu selection and were able to make pretty much any variation of the menu to accommodate the child. It and our quiche/salad meal came with a nice side of fresh fruit. I had a delicious house salad which was fresh and delicious, great quality ingredients and a good size. It was a great quality spring mix with baby arugula that was in no way bitter. Thin slices of radishes, crunchy cucumbers, perfectly ripe tomatoes and nice hearts of palm. I got balsamic vinegar on the side and it was delicious… almost the dessert style gourmet balsamic. It was only $ 6. For $ 4 more I got grilled shrimp on the side. While the shrimp was plum and delicious and perfectly grilled it was only three pieces which was a little pricey in my opinion. They brought the four available desserts for us to look at, which was nice. We chose a chocolate éclair which was great. Bittersweet mousse filling which was thick and not too buttery and the chocolate on top was a great quality. Overall really well done. The coffee was good and the grapefruit juice perfectly fresh and chilled. Unlimited refills and the server came around frequently. Overall this was a nice surprise find. I will definitely come back to check out the menu which seems to vary depending on seasonal ingredients, all good quality. The ambience was nice and the service great

After visiting the Birch Aquarium we cruised over to La Jolla Shores and walked the shops and eateries, checking menus if they were available to see before being seated. There are all kinds of food here but today Café Solange was the winner because we saw many good things on the menu and haven’t had anything«French» in a long time. My wife ordered the fish tacos which come with black beans. She really liked them, a lot! I’m kinda of picky about black beans so when she offered me a taste I was so glad I tried them. Really soft and creamy. Was there a hint of bacon in there? In any case the tacos and black beans I would order for myself in a heartbeat. I had the quiche with salad. The salad had a really yummy house vinaigrette and the quiche was the perfect portion for one person. It was loaded with ham and bacon with a handmade crust. A tad salty but who cares! It was delicious! We looked at the pastry case inside but decided we were full. Our server was great, too.

Great hummus. Marinated Kale Cesar salad was okay. Burger was five star… yum. French Onion soup was killer. All in all a great stumble in fair. Service was the best. Thanks Charles for your help and welcome.

This place still is lousy. FYI– 3p close means 2:20, which is okay because after you make me feel unimportant, I would not want to spend my $ here anyways. Still pretty impressive that they can afford to turn away customers, especially walking distance locals, with the likes of The Shorehouse Kitchen nearby easily doubling the volume that Solange receives. I really never intended on eating here since there are such better places closeby. Just wanted to get a baguette but will be sure to never plan on that again!

We just had an awesome experience here the other day. We were greeted with smiles from actively working employees and we’re seated by the sidewalk. I think they did this on purpose because it wasn’t too busy but people started rolling in after we sat down the back area has booths which are nice but hidden from street view. Charles took care of us. He has a great sense of humor and interacted with us well. I could see the owner was busy in interviews and we were told the restaurant will soon be open for dinner so that must be why! The coffee was awesome and the smoked salmon in the Benedict was off the charts. The muffin was well toasted as well which is so important to a good eggs Benedict. Almost forgot the Hollandaise sauce! I learned hollandaise is traditionally a french sauce so that’s probably why it was so incredible Will definitely be back, especially before word gets out and this place is packed. We started up the street at Shorehouse Kitchen and we’re happy there was a wait since it gave us the opportunity to come here.

This place was very disappointing. My fiancé and I stumbled upon this place as we were walking around all of the nearby shops and restaurants. We picked this one because it had a French vibe and a very quaint seating area. Think of a relaxed, outside patio with boutiques entrances on both sides and an entrance to café’s bakery at the end. As we walked in, the sign up front said«Please Seat Yourself», which I’m never a fan of-it sounds unprofessional. We sat ourselves at a booth in the back and observed the setting and people walking by, while trying to figure out who our server was. We probably waited 10 minutes. For a place that says«Please Seat Yourself», they should be more attentive. Our server finally came, asked us for drinks, and took our order. I had a veggie panini with potatoes and my fiancé had a club sandwich with fries. Our server was pleasant, so I cooled down from the long wait… until we had to wait 30 minutes(ATLEAST) for our food. I used to work at a steakhouse, our ‘deliver to the table’ time was 13 – 15 minutes. How much harder was it to prepare two sandwiches? As we waited, we noticed a gentleman on his laptop at a high top, on the other side of the glass. We thought he was just a guest until he visited our table shortly after the food was delivered to see how things were. May have been a manager. The veggies in my panini were hot but my potatoes and the fries were cold. The food itself? Meh. Our server only checked in on us halfway through our meal and someone else came to clear our dishes. With that being said, we sat at a table, no plates in front of us, and our server was no where to be found. I scoped around to see if I could grab someone’s attention and noticed the gentleman from before. I tried to waive him down, as he was scanning the restaurant, but he sat down at a table with another gentleman and had a beer. Huh? Someone who does table-touches gets to sit down in the dining area and have an alcoholic beverage? The place seems nice, but the food is mediocre. Don’t waste your money.

The setting and location is great, I loved the seating area! You literally sit in between two gift shops. The food was not the best. My Benedict shown on the left picture was $ 12 and was pretty good, the eggs were overcooked but the sauce was creamy and good. The potatoes on the side was just meh. My date ordered the corned beef hash which was very underwhelming. The portion was small and the food itself was not great at all for $ 13. We wouldn’t recommend that dish. Overall the location was nice, service was good but we probably wouldn’t come back for the food.

Café Solange has a small, quaint bakery and a nice outdoor seating viewing the street of Avenida De La Playa . What went wrong? The food is very least to say, below average. When an omelette has dull flavor and disproportionate taste, I think anyone can taste the poor cooking. The benedicts did not taste good subjectively. Maybe my friends and I just got a bad batch that day. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place simply because of the food.

I had high hopes for this place when I came in for breakfast, which is not to say it us bad, but rather it just did not provide that over the top experience. I ordered the Farmer’s Omelet with bacon, onions, and bell peppers with house shaved hash browns, a side of rye toast from Sadie Rose for $ 11.95, and I for $ 2 more, I added a half of an avocado( ). First of all, aside from the omelet being on the small side it was good( ), but it just needed more bacon. I had to hunt for it and when I did find it, it was limited in quantity and flavor. There was plenty of onions and peppers and a good amount of melted Swiss cheese( ). Seasoned too was a little of. It definitely needed salt and a little pepper, so I remedied that myself. The half of avocado I ordered for the omelet I ordered was a little under ripe, so it had a water appear, rather than a nice oily nutty flavor( ). The hash browns were rather interesting given they were very thin and crispy( ). I liked that they were crispy but being so thin, there texture was off and did not provide that tender inside and good potato flavor( ). I second thought, I probably should of ordered the garlic house breakfast potatoes. As they say, live and learn. The funny thing was, the Sadie Rose Rye Toast was my favorite park of my meal and came with soft butter and preserve( ). The rye not only had great flavor, but great texture as well. It was a treat to eat with the whipped butter and some of the omelet. Service was provided by a nice young lady named Heidi, and she was friendly and provided a number of water refills. Service with a smile was in order…
