I have family who LOVE this place and friends who ADORE this place… even family from Denmark who always need to stop here while visiting our beautiful city(which is just about annually). So, I’ve tried to figure out exactly what makes this a special donut shop. It’s really not. It’s a donut shop and the donuts are good yet average. The place is clean and I’ve only been on Sundays when the little old lady is working the counter, she is very friendly and smiley. I really don’t have any complaints except that I was hoping for something fantastic. It’s just a donut shop, like many others. Jax has been around for years and years and they do offer several types of donuts and are open on holidays. One of the donuts that(I guess) is unique to Jax is the 3-in-1 donut… it is just like it sounds and is 3 types of donuts all in one long«bar» type of donut(see my picture on Unilocal). The donuts seem fresh but not over the top, out of this world, or unique in any way. Just a simple place to pick up a sweet treat. Although all positive when it comes to my experiences, I just will rate Jax with 3 stars. It’s pretty much A-OK and worth stopping in if you want a donut and are passing by, but I won’t go out of my way to pick one up here if I’m not within a close radius. CHEERS! ========== Cash only. ==========

I don’t know why this place has such good reviews. We stopped by last night and the guy was very rude, was more interested in his show playing on TV. The doughnuts were average, definitely not fresh but we didnt expect them to be at midnight. We came back again tonight and the same guy was even more rude. He looked up at us as we walked up then proceeded to watch TV for 2 minutes, finally walked over and barked«what do you want?» Service was so bad, we just left. I’m changing my review a little, went back and tried to kill the owner with kindness(he still wasn’t very friendly) but he decided to tell me about how he works day and night and doesn’t make much money but has no other option because he has no education. Now I feel like an ass, I’d be grumpy too!

Terrible customer service. The man working acted inconvenienced to serve us since his Asian soap opera was on. The donut are okay, nothing special. I would never come back here, but you’re like 10 steps from my house & I get the munchies at 3 a.m.

Regular donut shop. I stood waiting and then they harangued me for not ordering. I had no idea they were ready for me because they were shuffling around the display case doing other things. The lady and her daughter behind me were also confused why they were upset with us for waiting patiently Haha aaanyways. Decent donut place. Donuts are a happy thing for me in the mornings but they kinda ruined my morning haha.

Stopped by based on reviews… Something must have changed. Ordered a cinnamon roll, bear claw, half dozen mixed… any way, shop keeper wasn’t happy that he had to but some coffee on, and continually asked me what what I wanted. We repeated this order exchange three times… cinnamon roll, bear claw, half dozen mixed and a coffee. Started to raise his voice at me, and questioned the order again. Really? Thank gawd JEANS donuts is right around the corner. It was clear this guy had a bad night or just plain grumpy.

This is my favorite donut spot! The donuts are extra fluffy, not dense, just fluffy – I guess that’s the best way I can describe it.

I’ve been going to Jax for close to 20 years now. Wow I guess that makes me old! I have long periods of low carbing so sometimes there’s months and even years in between visits but then other times, every Sunday I get my donut on and I love it! Since I’m a creature of habit with my food, I get the glazed donut every time — usually the round but the twist is just fine too. Seriously it’s the best glazed donut I’ve ever had — made fresh every day, not greasy but light and fluffy. The service here is excellent — quick and friendly. If you’re a regular or semi regular — they will get to know your order, likes and dislikes after a couple of visits. Staff is always the same 3 people that trade shifts and they are always smiling and friendly. Very nice people! p. s. Over the years I have gone here with many other people who eat all kinds of donuts, not just the glazed and everyone has always expressed their love for Jax. Yum! Go here!

Jack’s doing that has been around for many many many years I have not been here in probably over 10 years but I had to stop by and get the most delicious bear claw on earth. Same as always, you walk through the door and everybody smiles and greets you with respect and already to serve. I believe you do this to every customer when you purchase a few donuts you will receive those donut holes which is the best for dipping with your coffee

I haven’t gone there at night but my husband has. Says that you have to order through a small window without being able to see your options. They should have pictures up on the window for you to see their selection. In the daytime they have two ladies working the shop. One of them is nicer than the other. The one who speaks English. The doughnuts are delicious and decently priced. Cash only so come prepared.

Awesome donuts at any time of the day!!! Also great service ! My whole family goes to Jax and we even have a nick name for the older man who usually works at night. «Mr.miagi» he always gives us great service and he always has us leave with a smile!

Awesome donuts, 24 hours, really nice friendly owners and staff. They have the best old fashioned cake donuts, a favorite of mine.

Best French cruller I’ve had so far from a local shop! Light, fluffy texture inside and a clean, greaseless exterior. Lowest pricing for a donut shop too, with the French cruller costing .70 cents, and donuts sold for as low as .55 cents. Service was friendly, and the petite lady offered coffee to go with my donut. I should take her up on that offer next time I go there: D

The staff has always been very friendly. Prices are reasonable. Selection is hit or miss. The donuts are good(not spectacular). Due to the fact I drive by the shop a minimum of 20 times per week, it is very convenient. Why do I suddenly have a donut craving? :)

I think that the smile on somebodies face as you walk in the door drives the review and the service here was very friendly. I had three kids with me and the lady who was helping us was very patient with them as they anguished over the decision between Maple bar and chocolate bar… I got the large whole milks, because kids need a little whole milk in this non fat world! As we were leaving my son promptly dropped his milk in the trash… oops ¾ full… The kids liked the donuts, although they’ve never met a donut they didn’t like… This place is a winner!!! Cash only– most donut shops are. love their sign: for your inconvenience we don’t take credit cards…

I’ve been to this donut(I think that’s how you spell it) joint on several occasions. I like the two short Asian ladies who work there. They are very welcoming to their regulars. What kept me coming back were the fresh glazed twisted donuts that they had early in the morning. Anyways, this place has pretty cheap donuts… I shouldn’t say that because it has such a negative connotation. What I meant was that the donuts are fairly cheap. You can get a devil’s food, a glazed twist, a large milk, and ½ of your daily caloric intake for $ 2.70, which is a pretty damn good deal if you ask me. The down side is that they don’t always have a good selection of donuts, but that doesn’t stop me from getting what I want!

There are ten other Jax Donutses? Really? Anyway, this is one of those places that I’ve seen literally 6,782 times but have only been to like eleven times. It’s been around ever since I can remember, which means it was probably here before I was born. The donuts are OK. In the early eighties, they had Centipede, and I think my brother and sister would play it when my dad brought us here to get donuts. This is before(I assume) we discovered Dandy Donuts(RIP) in the Whittwood Mall. When they took out Centipede and didn’t replace it with another arcade game, this place lost all value for me. The last time I was here was in 1998. We had international guests in town, and the Krispy Kreme had just opened in La Habra. My dad hates Krispy Kreme with a passion, so after our out-of-town guests had gone out to see the scene at Krispy Kreme(this was when there would literally be lines in the drive-thru at three a.m.), he treated them to donuts from Jax. I don’t remember whether our guests were impressed, but I was excited to come here again after such a long absence. I haven’t been back, but I’d totally go.
