Very good broasted chicken. Small groups only mainly for take out. Lobby is clean. Food is mainly fried.

The best! Three and a half stars is a mistake. This place is definitely 5 star quality. Chickens always fresh and the fries are bomb. Better than Marie Calendars next store that’s for sure

Rude workers, bad service, new owner. This place is for you if you like high school kids attending you while on their phone. These people act like they are doing you a favor, they can’t add 2 and 2 together, my first and last time there.

Now I believe these bad reviews! I just called to make an order and the girl who answered the phone answered the phone and I asked her a question and she put the phone down and stared taking to what sound to me like another persons order there at the establishment, I was left hanging on the phone saying HELLO… Hello! This place seems to be under terrible management and bad customer service, very unprofessional! Just for that I will NEVEREVEREATATTHEIRESTABLISHMENTEVERAGAIN! So very rude! My guess is it’s not gonna last very much longer there. You just lost a few customers!!!

I found this place on accident driving up to buy a car. WOW What a gem. The fried chicken here is terrific. Really authentic southern style. The potato wedges were so bomb and the other menu looks terrific too. I WILL drive from Torrance to La Habra to get this again! Yea! That good! Plus I want to check out how their full rack of ribs hand is. You will see me again.

«To the chicken stand we goooo UH huh, we’re eatin lots of greasy food UH huh. Chicken box Is absolutely fantastic. The chicken is amazing. Broasted perfectly for that satisfying crunch and greasy fingers to remind you that you shouldn’t be eating this but you won’t stop. The champion here are the mashed potatoes. Actual real mashed potatoes like mom used to make. Seasoned so perfectly that you wouldn’t have to even add gravy. Who doesn’t add gravy though? Crazy people that’s who. The chicken gravy is delicious and flavorful. Be warned if you don’t phone ahead with your order you will have to wait a bit. Shout out to my guttermouth friends who get the song reference.

Well, I use to absolutely love the chicken box until this past weekend. We always try to make a stop here or Gondolas as our staples when visiting my grandma. Anyways, phoned in our order about 30 minutes ahead because I ALWAYS tend to wait even when they give us a 20 min ticket time. They said it would only be able 15 – 20 mins. Arrived about 35 minutes later and they had about 2 other people waiting. Waited an additional 20 mins for my order. I normally am not mad because the chicken is fresh BUT… not this time. My chicken was cold like it had been cooked at least 30 mins ago. The fried pickles were way to salty and cold. AND I ordered an extra side of macaroni salad for 4.75 for the pint and they forgot to put it in. ANYWAYS, so disappointed and sad because I love boasted chicken and use to love the Chicken Box. May give them another chance but this left as sour taste in my mouth. =(

Chicken strips were good. I ordered the wedges of of the recommendation of the manager. They were flavorless and too big. The bbq sauce was not typical bbq flavor which was disappointing.

Chicken Box is a small establishment that is located nearby a bowling alley. I definitely classify the food from here as comfort food. They offer delicious broasted chicken, ribs, seafood, sandwiches soups and sides. I recommend trying out the Monday special. It is a 10 Piece Chicken special that comes with a side of either french fries or broasted potatoes. Generally this combo costs 17.27, however on Mondays it costs 13.75. This deal can definitely feed 2 – 3 people easily. The chicken is always made to order and could take a while if you don’t call in to order. There is limited seating and it could take a while to get your food. Expected to spend roughly at least 10 $ here on a meal.

Found this quaint little place while I was in the area. It had mixed reviews on Unilocal, but My wife and I were in the mood for chicken so we decided to check it out. The place was small but clean and organized. It only had 3 small tables on the patio. While eating our dinner we noticed that most people came in to pick-up phone orders and left. The prices were very reasonable, under $ 20 for both of us. The chicken was fresh and cooked right. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sides tasted good too. I had the breasted potatoes and cole slaw while my wife had the fried zucchini. Will definitely come back if I’m in the area.

What am I, a mirage? Not good at all. I mean it is better than KFC, but that isnt saying all too much. I guess it is okay for the price. But not that good according to my tastes.

Another great chicken place ruined by new management!!! I have been coming to this place for their delicious broasted chicken for the last 10 years. This place was my always fail proof place to go for catering and for a dinner in and so I had no problem recommending Chicken Box BUT everything I know about this place has changed!!! First, the prices have increased tremendously! Second, the chicken was soggy, bland and really was the worst chicken I have tasted! I am so disappointed when people buy a successful restaurant and CHANGE it! Hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! The new owners have gone and ruined a perfectly delicious chicken place! I would suggest going to KFC rather than here. A sad day for chicken lovers like me!!!

This place is landmark serving great chicken. They do not pick up phone for Monday Special resulting 45 minutes wait. They should not offer Monday lower price of they do not want to offer it to loyal customer. I am very disappointed with new management.

My favorite Broasted Chicken place used to be this little take out place in Placentia in the old shopping center by Placentia Av and Nutwood. TGhat place is long gone and I’ve been trying other local places that did Broastyed Chicken. I tried Chris & Pitts on Euclide before they closed down — their Broasted was very greasy and funny tasting. Also tried Paul’s on Orangethorpe & Knott — not bad but you couldn’t just get the Broasted Chicken and Broasted Pototo wedges. There was also a Pizza place on Yorba Linda Bl in Placentia that did Broasted, but theirs was very spicy. Chicken Box is great. They cook to order. It comes out very hot and fresh and they have s special that’s just 10 pieces mixed with lots of Broasted potatoes. The chicken is great crispy, juicy with that Broasted ‘nutty’ flavor to the batter they use. I will be back.

I feel mean giving only one star but damn was it bad… The one time I ate here years ago was good. Last time was so bad we got sick, could barely eat. Chicken was over cooked in old oil. Not the most pleasant way to spend $ 50 to feed your family and have serious regrets.

**Updated to my most recent visit in October 2014** The BF and I were in La Habra and we couldn’t decide on what to eat. So he remembered Chicken Box was nearby. Why not? Broasted chicken and sides(woohoo) Fries and some salad, ya? So we were told that they’re under new management by the cashier and they insisted on the same recipes and seasoning(ok — why not). Since we both loved the chicken box — it wouldn’t hurt us to try the new owners. We ordered the meal for two — consisting on 6 pieces, 2 sides(fries and macaroni salad) and two rolls. The wait wasn’t too long, about 15 minutes, while they were cleaning up and closing up. However, during our wait we found out that while their sign said 9pm closing — they take the last order at 8:30pm. Um, if that’s the case, why don’t they state 8:30pm as the last order or something in that instance — because the cashier ended up turning away a customer at 8:32pm(sorry man, I know you’re hungry and wanted some chicken). Anyways, we get our order and the smell of Chicken box just envelopes the car, and we look forward to eating out chicken. Holy crap! We open our package and take a bite — and what happens? The chicken is burnt! Geez. Of all the things to mess up on? That’s just unforgivable. I’m not too sure if that’s part of the new owners’ thing. But sigh, you burn the chicken? Also, the prices have gone up. I’m not too sure if I would go back. Chicken box doesn’t really offer seating — except for a few kitchen tables and chairs. Parking is shared with Marie Callendars. **from June 2014** So my previous review earned a four star –Boo they didn’t have a lot of stuff today =(his shipment guy was either late or something. I wanted to try their deep fried pickles but they were out(explanation — the shipment guy didn’t make his delivery. Oh ok). Just a curiosity I asked what the pickles were made and they’re in chip form. ahnext time. The bf raves about this place and how the fried/broasted chicken is awesome. The owner said that we can call ahead of time for orders. t’s not your typical sit down place, but they have a few tables in their patio. Monday night special is 10pcs chicken and fries or potatoes and you cansubstitute for other things. The guy was pretty awesome making sure we were o. k as we were waiting and all.

So tonight I was craving for some fried food and didn’t know what to get. Then, tada, I remembered Chicken Box since it has been a little while. I learned tonight something new. They are under new management but they are keeping the same menu. I was promised that nothing was changed. I was also told they stop taking orders at 8:30pm even though the sign by the door reads they close at 9pm. Well it wasn’t an issue for me since I got there around 8:10. But for the hungry guy who showed up at 8:32pm, sorry they no longer take any orders. Um, no exceptions(that sucks!!!). I got a meal for two, 6 pieces with 2 sides and 2 rolls, just like what i used to get. Wait a bit, just like what I am used to, no big deal. Got my chicken and left. Then the horror started there. While the chicken smelled amazing, when I was eating them with my girlfriend, we both determined the chicken was either burnt or overcooked. They were desert dry and bland like plain shaved ice. They also seem to be smaller than what I used to get size wise. The fries were also over cooked, like, it was crunchy but you feel your teeth breaking kind of crunchy. The side, macaroni salad, was ok. Overall, WTF. I am not sure if this has anything to do with us being the last order of the night, but based on tonight’s experience, chicken box has lost another customer to KFC. Yes, CHICKENBOX, you are reading this right, your chicken is worse than KFC’s as of tonight. I don’t know what you can do to earn me back, but I don’t find myself going back again. I am so freaking sad now because I was SOOOOOOO excited to find this place in the neighborhood and loved it soooo freaking much. Forever sad now.
