Ordered a graduation stacked «book“cake that was perfect inside and out! My Mom had wanted to get the cake for my sons HS graduation and since we had already ordered the food from the deli next door thought we’d try Carmens. If you check photo#97– you can see how cute it came out. The first book was a rich chocolate cake with raspberry filling which was delicious. For the second book we wanted something different so asked for a confetti type cake… When we sliced into it, it was not confetti, but rather the most beautiful vibrant colored tye-​dye colored cake I’d ever seen! And it was ever moister than the chocolate. It had an amazing fresh strawberry filling! The frosting was light and creamy but kept the design intact without melting as some cakes do with whipped frostings. The service was great and the cake fairly priced! Carmens is our go-​to cake place!

So far the only bakery I go to buy some bread. I always fill up my bag. Have not tried their cakes I will soon though and hopefully they are good just like the bread they sell.

The tres leche cake has definitely got better had bought a cake and was not moist at all but spoke with the owner went back about a month later for another cake and the cake was much better. I will be coming back.

Stop by to pick up some pan dulce and was charged $ 5 for 5 pieces of bread. Really over priced, I asked for my money back and the Asian owner started cussing me out and threw the money and me. I literally have no words… never have been treated like that before. He proceed to tell me to get out his store. All I asked for was my money back, it’s really awful how people can treat others. I would never go back there again but really wish him all the success in his business.

Just came to my nephew’s Birthday party and my sister Inlaw was very upset with her experience with this place. They were returning customers and gave a deposit to get a Cake for their son after spending time giving them their ideas on what theme they wanted. When they went in to pickup the cake the baker gave them an excuse that they «forgot» to make the cake. They didn’t even offer to give back the deposit or give them a cake for free. My sister Inlaw had to drive around looking for a decent cake. I don’t recommend going to this place. I understand people make mistakes but own up to them and try to keep your customers.

Just absolutely the best! We ordered a wedding cake and it was beautifully decorated, moist, dense and creamy all at the same time. Fresh strawberries filling. Tres leche cake. Customer service was fantastic. On time and easy to work with. Very good prices and didn’t skimp on the decorating. Will definitely be back!

My sister has bought cakes from here before, and they are heavenly beyond compare. I don’t lust after tres leches normally, but this place made me a lover.
I love the mocha (some sort of coffee) tres leches cake with strawberries and chocolate drizzle. Subtle and delicious.
⁵⁄₅ will be coming back for all my birthday cake needs.

Carmen’s Bakery has a very wide variety of pan dulce, bolillos and cookies. They also have some muffins and occasionally offer donuts.
My favorite is their bread pudding. I believe it costs $ 1.20 for a huge portion and it is always perfectly baked.
I am not a big fan of their marranitos. I like mine to have more molasses taste. Theirs are very crunchy and more on the cookie side.
Still, Carmen’s is my go to panaderia in the neighborhood because they consistently have enough of a selection to please my family. They get the 4^th star for having great hours, a friendly staff and cleanliness. I don’t worry about gross trays, I see them wipe down after each customer.

I bought a cake for my mom’s birthday this past weekend and this is the first time we didn’t like the cake because it had some garabe some kind of filling and it was a lot! I had bought it from them before and it never came with that filling. I will probably order it for future events but without that filling. Other than that it was a nice friendly service.

I had came here this past week & was really impressed. The owner is an Asian gentleman. He was really friendly & extremely helpful. I loved how he tried hard to accommodate me w/​his excellent knowledge of Spanish. I had to burst his bubble & told him «me Spanglish», because my parent’s were burnt out teaching it after I was born. He was really cool & sweet. He also appeared to treat his employees w/​such respect, they also appear to have a good rapport & good customer base.
He told me everything’s fresh & what types of sweet bread, cakes & breads they had and asked if there was anything I wanted, told me about their tres leches cakes, & so on. I was really impressed.
The bolillos smelled so good, seemed soft and I could just kick myself for not getting any.
I don’t really do (if any) panadera’s in La Habra (since there’s a few in Whittier & also drive through East Los Angeles all the time, I/​we always make a pitstop to get on the way home). I just happen to be coming back from Brea & saw the sign & felt compelled to walk in & see what they were all about, also nice to know if I’m venturing out towards the OC, this place suffices the need in good pan dulce, among other things.
Plus plus is he told me their hours, they are open early, like 6 am & I believe (not sure, gotta verify w/​him again) but weekdays I think he either said 7 or 8 (maybe 9???) they close… most panaderia’s usually close early evenings)
Prices about average or maybe a little higher, but you definitely get what you pay for, pretty decent quality & they also have discounted bags of day (or more) old bread, I got one & it tasted really good compared to the so called fresh ones in a regular market.
