I’ve been here several times and honestly the food keeps getting worse. Today was the final straw. I got the chicken pita and it was disgusting, sorry to be so harsh. The chicken had no flavor, the pita wasn’t warm and the sauce was so tasteless. Besides that the food is overpriced for what you get.

Clearly a superb hot dog and burger place, but it’s no greasy spoon and not a typical 1970’s eatery like many. Instead, this place caters(see pics) with impressive preparation and packaging, cooks-to-order hot dog varieties that you would be hard-pressed to find, makes awesome hamburgers on a bun OR in a wrap, and serves gyro, and many many other specialty items. Their«craft» sodas will impress you from ginger beer to double-caffeine Jolt cola(in a bottle!) to pecan root beer and bacon-infused cream soda(my gosh, that is like candy for breakfast). It’s behind Horton’s and Q-BBQ, just north of La Grange theater, tucked away to keep it safe the next time you get the urge. Eat here.

I was in the area and decided to stop for an inexpensive, not really that healthy, yet satisfying burger lunch. Unilocal had favorable reviews, take out, and only one $ so alas, Hotdog & Burger Company it is. It’s not visible from LaGrange road, if it wasn’t for the sign I would not have found the place, which is kind of on the west side of the street in a side parking lot. The store itself is very small on the inside, but clean and fairly nice for a dog & burger joint. I couldn’t decide what I wanted but ended up going with the blackened bacon & blue cheese burger with a side of bosco sticks. The burger itself came with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and blue cheese«sauce»,. I unwrapped it and my initial reaction was that it was deceivingly small in size. The patty had to be no more than ¼lb and there wasn’t more than one piece of bacon cut into small, thin pieces on top. What really confused me is that the lettuce and tomato were on the bottom of the sandwich, but the blue cheese sauce, which actually resembled and tasted more just like mayo, was on top on top of the bacon. It still blended alright, but I almost always prefer the dressing/mayo/sauce on the lettuce/top. I suppose I should have got some of the BBQ sauce or ketchup they have sitting out. Overall the taste wasn’t bad, much better than any McDonald’s/Burger King garbage, but it still didn’t really wow me, especially for the price. The bosco sticks were pretty good, nicely breaded and even had a tasty little sweetness to them, the marinara sauce that came with them was surprisingly good too. Overall, a decent burger and better-than-your-high-school’s bosco sticks in a good location. Albeit, pretty pricey. My meal was almost $ 9.

This place is not what it used to be. A few years back I worked in the area and went there all the time. Tonight I decided to pay hot dog co a visit again. I walked in to see a completely different menu. They used to have the hot dog joint basics at a very reasonable price. It used to be 3.25 for a dog and fries, now it’s $ 5, which would be fine if they kept the quality the same. They switched from handcut fries to those garbage crinkle cut ones you buy from Costco. The BBQ sauce is fantastic though, they get it from their neighbors at Q bbq. I think Q may own hot dog co, not positive though. It’s not a terrible hot dog joint, just not what it used to be. If your in the area, stop in, but don’t go out of your way to pay a visit.

This was a nice little hotdog and hamburger joint. Not much in the way of thrills but it had some interesting combinations on the menu. For example I had the BLT hotdog and Gyros fries. The BLT dog was a hotdog wrapped with bacon and covered in lettuce and tomato. The gyro fries were basically French fries covered with gyros meat, sauce and feta cheese. All in all the food was yummy and prices were very good. For like $ 5 for the large size of fries you get enough for two people to eat. I recommend the half size if you’re eating alone. Overall a nice place for lunch on a warm summer day. Handy tip: you can’t see this place from the street. You need to drive around back of A BBQ joint to get to it.

Let’s see, I walked in here and the first thing that became aware to me was the terrible attitudes that everyone had in this place. Yeah you work in a hot dog shack, but cheer the eff up because your crappy attitudes are blatant and not welcoming. This being a specialty hot dog and fry place I asked if there was a way to combo any of these items… No. A hot dog/burger/fries joint that does not offer any type of combo. That comes off as cheap, but hey that’s just me. Probably the only hot dog place I’ve seen that doesn’t offer any type of hot dog/fry/drink combo. That all being said, the food was decent, nothing special though. I’ll take my 9 dollars somewhere else and won’t come back.

The burgers are worth trying too. I wanted to give the burgers a shot instead of the tasty dogs they serve here. My rating has not changed – I’m just adding some additional info. I ordered the Parmalat crusted patty melt. I think they upgraded me for free – there were definitely 2 patties there. Very cool of them. Anyway, the bread had a bit of the umami/savory quality from the Parmesan. Inside you found some special sauce, the beef patties, American cheese, and grilled onions. Overall, this ginormous burger had good flavor too if I had one criticism, it would be that the meat was not seasoned with quite enough salt. Still impressed with what they create here at the HD&B Co.

Played it safe and got the Chicago dog, it was good but bun wasn’t steamed. Also got the Garlic Parmesan Fries… they had no garlic taste to them, I was expecting a big garlic kick but got oily fries :(Add diced garlic and they’ll be way better. Good luck on the re-open! I’ll stop by again and check out what you guys do with the garlic parm fries!

This place is now the Hot Dog and Hamburger Company. The food is actually pretty good. The problem is 9 out of 10 times they mess up my order. I order mustard, relish, and raw onion on a hotdog only to get mustard, cooked onions, and a pickle. I order a burger with ketchup, mayo, and raw onions only to get ketchup, mayo, and mustard. It’s especially frustrating because I get my food to go when I’m in a hurry. Yes, I guess it’s my own fault for not double checking the order, but what’s next? Should I just make my own so I know it’s right?

The remodel is nice but it destroyed the novelty. And I can’t understand why they took away fresh brewed iced tea. Try the tots, though.

This place makes Gene & Judes look like a dirty bathroom. Hot Dog Company has FAR superior eats too,. THIS is a authentic Chicago hot dog and its probably the best Ive ever had!!! Very fresh! Excellent bun! Perfect dog. The fries are damn good and not overly greasy. I didnt try their pop but they have a great selection. Very nice atmosphere. I tried a fried dog too and HOLYSHIT! It was damn amazing! Yowzza! I live 15 miles NW but I drive out here just for the food. If the hot dog was a woman I would marry it.

The consequences of conscripting food services on Christmas eve day: — the joint is empty at noon — take-out order for 4 dogs — 3 of 4 dogs produced as order; the 4th, a terrible miss .and the iron fist rusts.

Not quite the treat it’s sister restaurant, Q-bq across the parking lot is but still a great dog with a unique experience and atmosphere. Very clean and great service but it’s just too difficult to pass by Q’s to slip into hotdog company. The choice of grilled, steamed, or fried makes it a top end doggie destination just sneak in the back so you don’t kick yourself in the butt for passing a lunch chance at the Q!

I really liked this place! The hot dogs are very good, and I believe one of the few places that DOESN’T use a Vienna Beef Hot Dog. I like how you can pick the way you want the dog cooked(steamed, grilled, fried) and I found the grilled to be the best(I tried grilled and fried). Cost is reasonable, a double dog for $ 3.50 is a nice deal! Lot of different options to dress your dog too, which is nice. I found this to be a real nice place for a dog, I’ll go again! ONETHING: for the owners — I hope you consider doing something to reduce the cold air that comes flying in every time the door opens. It’s a small place, so when the door opens, everyone is basically nearby and I can’t imagine how cold that air will be in the winter.

Pretty great place to eat. I work right across the street, and I can rely on this place to make great food in great speed. Their main thing, if the name doesn’t give it away, is hot dogs. You can get your hot dog grilled, steamed, or fried. You can order a Chicago style dog with everything on it, or exclude what you don’t want. The dogs are great tasting, not so greasy, and the fries are deliciously crisp. The other gems? So far I’ve tried the combo dipped in juice. The beef was delicious and the sausage was pretty great too. I love that they have bbq sauce from Q’s as condiments. Dipping my fries and hot dog in the sweet bbq sauce just enhances the flavor just a tad more. Prices are great, food is great. Give it a try.

My co-workers and I found this little gem tucked away in the parking lot behind Q BBQ. Let me start off with the heavy hitting main bullet point here. For $ 7.08(tax included) you get two huge dogs, a large fries, and a beverage! Guess what, the dogs are fantastic too. Another cool thing is you can mix and match the types of dogs you get. I got a Chicago dog and a chili cheese dog. First you choose whether you want your dogs grilled, steamed, or fried. Next, you pick your toppings just in case you can’t handle those sport peppers. Finally you sit down and 4 or 5 minutes later you enjoy! The ingredients on the Chicago dog were very fresh and flavorful. It came with pickle spear, onions, tomato, peppers, and mustard. All of this served on a warm and soft poppy seed roll. This was my second time visiting and we are big fans now. You should give this place a try. Good quick eats for a very reasonable price.

Great hot doggery… cool hot dog bistro tucked in downtown la grange behind QBBQ and next to hortons. The hot dog menu is offered steamed, fried, or grilled. I opted for grilled with onion, pickles, and mustard. I snuck some ketchup on the dog at my private table. I was also given a seriously tasty sample of their new dog, «the lyonaisse». Good eats here, nice service. They deliver very good hot dogs with lots of options. Sodium nitrate heaven here!

Good place for a quick bite to eat in La Grange downtown area located behind Q-Bbq. The hot dogs are fresh and tasty, but got cold too quickly. They have tater tots which is a plus for me since I don’t get to have it often. Neat selection of craft sodas, too. I recommend this place for your hot dog fix! $ 4.99 special gets you two hot dogs with everything and fries — great deal!
