In all honesty, we did not even intentionally come here. I had my heart and stomach set on Kate’s on State, but my stupid iphone misdirected us, per usual. We wandered around until we saw, «Kate’s» and the same logo, though this ended up being whole different pizza place(but same owner). That being said, we are grateful we stumbled in here! I really liked the modern décor and high ceilings, but it was very loud and a little cramped. My boyfriend told a joke to a busboy, but the busboy just deadpanned and crickets started chirping. It took a while for our drink order(a water and a beer) to be received. Though we were craving pasta dishes, the pizzas on the menu were intriguing. I settled on pure carbs and meat: Spaghetti Bolognese with Italian Sausage. My boyfriend ordered the New Orleans Tortellini. We were starving so we threw in an order of calamari too. The calamari was a hit — not too chewy or greasy with a great crunchy batter. Our complimentary bread and marinara sauce came to our table after our appetizers… we would have loved to have had it when we were about to eat our hands 30mins earlier. Then came our side salads which came with a nice variety of toppings including beets, olives, and chickpeas. It took almost an hour to get our entrees. Luckily, they were delicious! They have one of the best house-made marinaras I’ve ever had. So balance and flavorful. My boyfriend LOVED his ravioli and creole cream sauce. They did not skimp on the chicken and shrimp either. The portions were big so we happily took half of it home. Service was kind of cold and absent. If I could itemize this review, food would be 4.5 and service would be 2.5 stars.

Driving from SE Wisconsin to Sioux Falls, SD, we Unilocaled and found Kate’s Pizza Amore. Oh my gosh! We have eaten pizza all over and this is without a doubt the best pizza pie you will ever eat. I had Roman Ruins, my wife had Pear & Gorgonzola, these pies are beyond compare. Worth driving way out of your way to eat here. Besides the great food, the ambience is great, upscale restored old building with eclectic décor and lighting, attentive wait staff. Five stars plus!

We moved to a town about 45 minutes from La Crosse and were really REALLY missing good pizza — the Tuscany Garden was totally awesome — so many veggies, cooked perfectly(not at all soggy) and we ended up going out of our way to head there any time we had something to celebrate. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a huge variety of pizzas and toppings to choose from, although we never tried anything else besides Tuscany Garden(we are vegetarians, and just really liked that one!). If you are looking for a great place in La Crosse for a slightly fancier occasion, we highly recommend this! The only downside is their weird hours…

Pizza Amore has my favorite pizzas ever and I have been there many many times on a date or with girlfriends. My husband and I and our two young sons recently visited for pizza and Mac and cheese which was the first time we had gone with our children. We were very disappointed to find that Pizza Amore had absolutely no booster seats or high chairs in its establishment which was astonishing to me as it has this restaurant has never been advertised at not being accommodating to families. Although the food is wonderful and the atmosphere is great I will have to give this restaurant 3 stars due to its lack of seating for kids. Why can’t I have great pizza and bring my kids too?

One star is pushing the envelope for Kate’s Pizza Amoré, this establishment is a complete miss. The service was lackluster and subpar at best. Problems began with very slow service. Ordering a bottled beer in barely filled restaurant should not take 15 minutes to receive. The menu and pizza selections are pretentious and the restaurant is trying to have selections like California Pizza Kitchen or an Italian food fusion establishment. I ordered an appetizer because of the goofy name«Yummy Fun Meatballs,» and let me tell you they were not yummy or fun. They were FROZENMEATBALLS served in a burnt teriyaki sauce. Also ordered a vegetable pizza which was soggy and very bland. If you think that the Olive Garden is great and serves real Italian food, then Kate’s Pizza Amoré is serving up a great portion of pretentious food for you!

L O V E this place! I’ve definitely been here way too many times already. They have a lunch buffet during the week that is only $ 9 per person for an all you can eat buffet that includes 3 types of pizzas, one pasta, and a mini salad bar. When you’re there for dinner, you have to try the Greek Gyro pizza. Best pizza I have ever eaten!

Interesting take on pizza. They offer a great deal of different kinds of topping combinations associated with a particular theme. I can’t recall the kind of pizza me and my partner got, but I do remember enjoying it some. With the amount of toppings that were on the pizza we got, I kind of felt I was eating something other than a pizza itself. Though the flavors of said ingredients, and toppings made for an enjoyable experience, I’m not sure whether I would’ve enjoyed having just a regular sausage or pepperoni pizza more. If you’re looking for a more traditional pizza, I can’t say whether this would be the right spot or not, not having tried a plain cheese, but if you go the route of one of the more adventurous topping combinations, then be warned that what you might be having is not a pizza itself.

Went there for the express lunch buffet and was extremely pleased with the food and service. We were seated immediately and ordered drinks. The buffet consisted of a salad bar, one pasta dish, and three types of pizza. All were fresh and tasted great. I really liked the sausage on the pizza. I don’t remember the name of the pasta dish, but it to was fresh and hot. It had a nice sauce with mushrooms and zucchini. So if you want a good fast meal I highly recommend this place.

Good thin crust pizza. Cheese to sauce ratio can be improved. However, I like to have lots of cheese on my pizza. The thick crust is not bad as well. I had the thin crust cheese pizza with garlic the last time I eat there. Great food and good customer service.

Really, really good food, but we can never eat here because they refuse to «allow» kids. No booster seats and no high chairs, so we won’t be dining here for a loooong time. I don’t expect to bring kids to a swanky place like Kate’s on State, but for a semi-casual pizza place I think it’s pretty rude of them to exclude families.

A place only gets 5 stars if they do something exceptional… Kate’s Pizza Amore dishes up some of the best pizza I’ve tasted in recent memory. Came here from Minneapolis to meet my brother at UWL for a show at The Warehouse and needed some pre-concert food. Kate’s seemed like a good bet based on the previous reviews, and I was not disappointed. First off, as a note, this place is a little swankery than I thought it would be. Definitely felt a bit underdressed in my band tee and jeans. Oh well. The ambiance is very trendy and super loud… just how it should be for an Italian meal. For an app, we ordered the Stuffed Meatball — one giant meatloaf-based meatball stuffed with spinach pudding and smothered with marinara sauce on a bed of grilled zucchini. Great start to the meal. The zucchini added a nice crunch to the softness of the meatball, and the spinach pudding was legit. I also ordered a beer that was on tap from the local Pearl Street Brewery. Super hoppy and super delicious with the app and pizza that followed. Speaking of pizza, we ordered the Pollo Pesto, topped with pesto sauce, and a healthy helping of chicken, portabella mushrooms, red onions, and tomatoes. The crust was perfectly fluffy but still had a good bite to it, and the toppings went incredibly well together. It was like eating pasta on a pizza. Just the right amount of pesto, too. Kate’s Pizza Amore is a great find in the relatively limited selection of restaurants in LAX. Some of the best pizza I’ve had outside of major cities in a very long time.

Very delicious pizza, gluten free crusts available. Had the Roman Ruins pizza that tasted great. Swanky décor. The only minus was that there were no booster chairs or high chairs for the kids. They carry gluten free beer too. Gotta have beer with pizza.

Below average. Nothing more nothing less. Over priced as well! Every time someone would walk in you would get a cold breeze blowing on you.

First time here and I WILL be back! Service was excellent, courteous, and friendly. The Thai curry peanut chicken pizza is spectacular! The next time we visit La Crosse this will be a dinner venue.

My wife and I were in town for a night and decided to give this place a shot as it was near our hotel and had good reviews on Unilocal. Since we had eaten pizza the night before, neither of us decided to try any of the pizzas(though the ones we saw at other tables looked quite good). We both went for pasta entrees; hers was a vegetable linguine while I had the spaghetti bolognese(the meat sauce option rather than with meatballs or sausage). Both of our dishes had quite overcooked noodles(too soft/mushy), and my wife’s tells me hers was overall pretty bland. The«bolognese» with the spaghetti actually seemed to be their pizza sauce with meat added. It was overly sweet, lacked any depth of flavor, and needed salt — badly. To make matters worse, when I was about halfway through my dish I found a long light brown/blonde hair in my noodles. Both my wife and I have black hair. Uhhh…NOPE. Luckily when I brought it to the attention of our server, he was as horrified as we were and went off to tell his manager. He asked if I wanted anything else to replace the spaghetti, but at that point I had eaten enough and wasn’t interested in having another full plate of food. They removed the spaghetti from the bill, which was(literally) the least they could do… if I had been the manager I would have comped the whole meal. If you come here, avoid the pasta. If the pizzas taste as good as they look, they’re a better option. Also, check for hair.

Amazing pizzas in a great atmosphere. Great selection of pizza toppings to style your own or select one that is loaded with fun ingredients; good beer/bar/wine selection too! Reasonable prices.

I’ve eaten at practically every restaurant in La Crosse it seems like, but I had yet to give Kate’s Pizza Amore a shot – I’ve still never even tried Kate’s On State! However, when she had Crunch open, I was fairly disappointed – trying out Pizza Amore seemed like a gamble to me, but some of my lady friends wanted to go, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I started my evening with some of her appetizers – the bruschetta was amazing! It looked very fresh and there were more than just a few tomatoes as I have had at other places. I was especially intrigued with the grilled vegetables as an option for an appetizer – though a little awkward to share amongst friends, and more oily/greasy than I would have liked, they were still pretty delectable and a nice option since I do try my best to eat somewhat healthy when I am out. The Hacker Pschorr, my favorite beer, was even decently priced – as a Wisconsinite and college student, this was very much appreciated. Other than the appetizers, my lady friends and I ordered the individual pizzas and split them with each other – I got a mediterranean one, one of my friends ordered the thai curry peanut one, and my other friend… well, it was a little over three weeks ago, so I can’t recall what she got. Since there were four slices on each individual pizza, not only did we get to try a little bit of everything, but also in a portion size that was realistic, not blasphemous! The atmosphere, though very small, was calming and inviting. There is not a lot of width to the establishment and I do get a little claustrophobic, but the high ceilings helped put that at ease for me. Weird complaint, I know, but we all have our flaws and vices… To be quite honest, I was fairly surprised with my bill – I did think it would end up costing me a lot more than 30 some dollars. For being able to try a variety of things AND have a nice, cold beer on top of it at a place as classy as Pizza Amore – I was overall very pleased. Definitely a great place to dine together on a date or with a big group of friends. Since seating is limited, though, I do recommend calling to make reservations first.

Although I love my hometown of La Crosse, the food lacks the flavor that can easily be found in the big city. Thankfully, Kate is dishing out some amazing pizza that gives any pizzeria a run for its money. First off, the atmosphere is perfection. Dim lights, cozy yet chic booths, and music that sets the mood are just a few things you can expect when stumbling into Kate’s Pizza Amore. Now let me tell you about the food. I can hardly describe it without drooling on my keyboard. Seriously, the most mouthwatering pizza you will ever experience in your life. Take it from me and order the Thai Curry Peanut Chicken Pizza. I promise you won’t be disappointed. It consists of a divine homemade curry peanut sauce, grilled chicken breast, fresh mushrooms, crushed peanuts, and roasted red peppers. Eat the whole thing. If you’re not so into curry, go for the Greek Gyro Pizza. It’s covered in sun-dried tomatoes, chickpeas, fresh spinach, gyro meat, feta cheese, garnished with a little fresh cucumber, tomatoes, and red onion. Lather it in the creamy cucumber Tzatziki sauce for a heavenly pizza filled experience. You can’t go wrong with this Italian eatery. A round of applause goes to Kate for bringing good food to the heart of downtown La Crosse.

When it comes to Pizza, Kate knows her stuff. I haven’t had a bad one yet… heck, I haven’t had just an «ok» pizza there… Kate’s is the place for great pizza. I really liked the Gorgonzola Tapenade. As other reviews have mentioned, get there early(before 6), or you may have to wait for a bit. The one thing that kept this from getting 5 stars is that there are no refills on soda.
