Friendly staff, the beef meat was tasty, but the broth tasted extremely watered down & flavorless. Also barely any greens on the side even when asked for more. Won’t recommend but convenient location!

We’ve tried many Vietnamese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley so my standard of Vietnamese food is kind of high. The owner and workers are not Vietnamese(hence the name Vietnamese fusion). Surprisingly, the phở base flavor in their soup was pretty spot on – but not too oily and salty like most authentic Vietnamese places– so we were able to finish the soup base without drinking gallons of water. We prefer the bland flavor. They were also super generous with their sides(bean sprouts, cilantro, mint and basil leaves) and would graciously give you more upon request. The place is known for their fried rice, and that too, was good. The portion was a bit smaller than I anticipated but it came with raw vegetables on the side. Great for us since we preferred some raw vegetables to go with our meal. Great location. Great service. Fair portion and flavor. Reasonable price. Great fallback place for the locals. Closed on Mondays.

If I could give this place less than one star I would. Christmas Eve my husband and I both ate here and got horrible food poisoning. The worst I’ve had in my entire life. I had the beef phở and he had the beef and tendon phở. We both got sick. Whether it was unwashed produce or spoiled meat I’m not sure, but I will never, ever eat here again.

Nothing fancy but we go there all the time… Some of the reviews are kind of biased… this is not a fancy place… get over it. this is a mom and pop shop… service will not be special… but it has always been fine… The other complaints about no Veggie Phở… that is not a reason to rate someone a one star just because they don’t have what YOU want… Phở taste great. Our family always gets the #7, rare steak and we have never had any issues… we come at least three times a month.

My favorite Phở place. I often go here with my daughter. They are always friendly and the service has been excellent every time we’ve gone in. We usually split a bowl and add extra meat. They always do this cheerfully, and they often provide me with a scissors so I can cut the noodles as I ladle a bunch into the second bowl. We love the meatballs, and they are always happy to give you extra cilantro or bean sprouts if you ask.

Love coming here. I’ve eaten here a handful of times. Tonight was night three of my husband & I having an unPHOgetable week. So far this is 4⁄3.(We left one of four night one). This is the third we’ve had and I’d say so far 3rd of the three. Service is 1st of the three.

Good food! Remember this place is FUSION, not authentic Vietnamese phở. They don’t give you a lot of bean sprouts or cilantro but they are very generous when you ask! No extra charge for extra side of soup either! I enjoy coming here ever since management changed. The new owners or are so kind and the woman always has such a sweet and welcoming aura which I always appreciate!

I’ve only been to 4 phở places yet I would say this is my favorite! Why, say you? Here are the reasons: 1) I ordered chicken phở and everything tastes fresh! 2) Portion size is good! The small looks like a large! 3) Cute, quaint place with windows that face Honolulu! Right now, Honolulu has Christmas lights all over so the view from my seat is lovely! 4) Customer service was sweet and quick! 5) Price is normal for phở! So glad I came across this place while taking an evening stroll! I will definitely be back!

So, where do I begin. Walked in, wait was not too long. We got seated and everything was great until the waitress crept up on me, scared me, to ask if we were ready! Why so creepy lady?! So I asked if they had a veggie dish… they don’t –___– How do they not have a veggie dish?! Okay so I asked if I can do beef broth with veggies… her response… we don’t put veggies in our phở… okay. At this point we went from a 4 star to a 3 star And last but not least, there was a strand of hair in my veggie — less phở. So now I offically gave them a 1 star At least my date was good looking…

You may be disappointed if you expect real authentic vietnamese dishes here. This is more fusion– or korean– styled vietnamese noodles and i love it!!! Good food with reasonable price.

I have been a loyal customer of Phở 22 since 2007. In fact, I tried phở for my first time here. Service is lacking, I mean what can you expect from middle-aged Korean women who hardly speak English. I have a pretty small appetite, so sometimes I order the kids’ meal. You can chose between a plain phở or fried rice and it comes with one egg roll and a juice box. They don’t give out the fish sauce for the kids’ meal so make sure to ask for that on the side. When I don’t get the kids’ meal, I normally order the #7 small which is the rare steak phở. I’ve had better phở elsewhere. Since, Phở 22 is the closest to home, I’ll keep coming the day after a long night of craziness.

Korean family owned Vietnamese fusion spot. We were in the area and wanted some Phở. Walked in we were seated quickly. I ordered a classic Phở #3 on the menu sans the rare brisket. It comes with tendon which I happen to love in Phở. Let me tell you how ridiculously good this tendon was and large chunks of it too here. The phở broth was light in flavor and wasn’t too heavy and rich. That tells me the bones cooked down to make he broth weren’t boiled long enough. However, the taste was good. At least it wasn’t bland. Noodles were plenty inside and cooked right. We also got to try the BBQ pork sandwich(banh mi). It was not bad. The bread wasn’t your typical crunchy French baguette at any real Vietnamese joint. But it was delicious none the less. We also shared a 2 piece of what had to be the best pork egg rolls I had ever had. They were juicy inside, crunchy outside. Flavors were spot on. We wrapped them in lettuce as you should and dipped it into the Nuac Cham sauce(seasoned Vietnamese fish sauce). That sauce really gave the rolls a burst of flavor. Service was kind and quick. SO much more to explore here will be returning shortly.

Want authentic Vietnamese phở? Go take your ass to Orange County or San Gabriel Valley!!! Want some good filling eats while in this white part of town, cruise by this little joint. Sign on the door says Vietnamese FUSION so quit the uppity entitled whining about authentic Viet grub. The folks who run this joint are Korean so deal with it. The food tastes just fine. The portions are generous enough. The broth is standard and not too salty on its own. Some will complain about bland flavor so if very picky about it, bring some MSG in a ziplock bag or ask for some fish sauce on the side. That should have the most sensitive of savory palettes satisfied. Authentic Viet joints are not known for their bedside manner when it comes to service. Given the demographics of this neighborhood, they are friendly and attentive here compared to the Viet places I have been to. The food comes quick and steaming hot. Can’t ask for much more. If you do, stick to fine dining. Asian noodle houses are quick and dirty. This is the food of the peasants back in Asia. Pho22 on the other hand is clean and the décor caters to the customers. Here, they greet you when you enter and exit. Here, they say thank you. The one thing I would change about this little joint is to have the option for egg noodles in the soup. Other Vietnamese phở joints I been to have that.

Not bad for a local Phở restaurant. Service can be a little better, but definitely worth a try for Phở lovers. Prices can be a bit lower…

Not bad for a phở restaurant literally 3 minute walk from my house. I wish they gave us basil but other than that they have all the phở necessities.

We will never be back. Sorry. Had late lunch here and it was somewhat a red flag when we sat down and realized it wasn’t going to be an authentic Vietnamese Phở restaurant. I wanted to order a veggie phở. Nope!!! No veggie? What in the world! Are you kidding me? They only served plain tofu. Just tofu no veggie with tofu. Just plain tofu with noodles. In any Vietnamese phở place, there’s always a veggie option WITH tofu! Unbelievable! The waitress says, oh there’s a plate of veggies that come with it(she was referring to the bean sprouts and jalapeño, etc.) that usually come with the phở soup. Oh I was so irritated!!! I just gave up… Ooook fine tofu. Here come my tofu… Looked like a pool of croutons in my bowl!(Photo) What in the world! Miserable!!! Then the plate of usual«veggie» bean sprouts, jalapeño and what the heck??! Parsley? Where’s the mint leaves? If you’re going to open a Phở place, can you please make an effort to try and be authentic and serve the essentials. Parsley and a pool of tofu is not gonna cut it. Spend a little more money on some fresh veggies. Seriously? No concept of fresh veggies. I don’t get it.

a Phở 22 is a long narrow«shot gun» eatery in the heart of the pleasant«village» of Montrose. Because it is so narrow, there is only very limited outdoor seating, but the inside can handle a fairly large group with no problem. I went in at the start of lunch hour at 11:30am so there was no hassle in finding a table & service was quick & friendly. By the time I left, a good number of people came flowing in from nearby offices & businesses. Because the clientele as well as the owners are not Vietnamese, the menu doesn’t have the usual familiar sounding Vietnamese names… Cha Gio, Com, Bi Cuon, Goi Cuon, etc. Instead the names of the dishes are English comprehensible like«rice rolls», vermicelli, etc. The other inscriptions in the menu are in Hangul which is a Korean alphabetic script. As the restaurant logo of Phở 22 states, «Fusion Vietnamese.» I ordered ice tea which came with a small pitcher of viscous sugar liquid so that the sugar would dissolve completely in the cold ice tea unlike granulated sugar which collects at the bottom of the glass and just sits there. Nice thoughtful touch. Got what in a Vietnamese restaurant would be written as Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio which is boiled rice based«vermicelli», grilled pork, fried egg roll with many kinds of Vietnamese herbs such as Rau Ram, Vietnamese Basil which is distinctive in having a green top but purplish red underside, spear mint, bean sprouts, some pickled Japanese Daikon radish/shredded carrots, raw cucumber slices. The Vermicelli with Pork at Phở 22 had most of the above, but had the addition of crushed roasted peanuts that added a meaty, nuttiness, but lacked some of the fresh herbs such as Rau Ram, & the distinctive Vietnamese Basil. Of course the obligatory Nuoc Cham or sweetened fish sauce in a small«tea cup» was provided to add Umami saltiness to the entire bowl. The Bun or «vermicelli» was cooked very al dente which is unusual in Vietnamese restaurants that boils its Bun usually to a firm softness. The grilled pork had more of an underlying affinity to a Korean Daejigogi with a sweet soy sauce marinade than a more Nuoc Mam(fish sauce) infused flavour profile for a more Vietnamese style. The Cha Gio wrapper was made from thin wheat which is more prevalent in Northeast Asia/Korea & not rice«paper» as in most Vietnamese eateries. At least for the Vermicelli with Pork at Phở 22, the fusion implied seems to be between Vietnamese cuisine with touches of Korean. Los Angeles is amazing in that there are so many different world cuisines that they at times blend and fuse with interesting results. Phở 22 is a good place for a light lunch that is easily digestible, light, and not heavy on the stomach. It’s a good way to go back to work, and not have to fight against the 2 o’clock slump because what we had eaten before for lunch was a brick of a burrito or chicken fried steak. 3+ Unilocal stars for a carefree lunch. PS Hard surfaces everywhere so the the more the people, the louder it gets especially if filled with people who just LOVE to hear their own«sweet» voices.
