Mediocre ice cream, not overly friendly service, and a weird policy of not allowing tastes. How can you carry black licorice ice cream and not offer tastes, I ask you?!? When I asked the guy if it sold much, he looked at me and said, «It’s quite a… grown up… taste.» Whatever that means. Then they made us wait to pay and get our ice cream while they chatted with another customer about what creepy-sounding über religious churches in the area they attend. Won’t be going back.

The La Conner Sweet Shoppe is a great little pit stop if you’re in town and in the mood for sweets or ice cream. The ice cream is delicious and the scoop size is very generous. I got a waffle cone with a scoop of espresso explosion and a scoop of cherry amaretto. Both flavors were outstanding, with the espresso being my favorite. Price for a two scoop waffle cone was $ 4. The owners were both there — husband running the register and wife scooping the ice cream. There wasn’t a lot of small talk, which some reviewers seem to crave, but service was fast and definitely not unfriendly or rude. I’ll definitely be back!

Service was rude and curt!!! Really, maybe you should not own a business where you have to work the general public. We were in La Conner for Mother’s day and we wanted ice cream. We decided to try this place. Never again. I get the paying for the ice cream before you order, BUT how about a sample so I can make sure it tastes good. It’s not like I asked for samples of all the flavors. I wanted to try 3 different flavors. Sell the business to people whom are going to reflect the Hospitality of Skagit Valley!

I have to agree with previous posts about this store. We were in town for Mother’s day which is supposed to be fun. We wanted Ice cream and we found this place. I walked in and followed the signs that asked you to pay for the ice cream before you order. After I had paid for my Ice cream, I stepped over the pick out the flavor or flavors. I asked for a taste and was told«NO»! Really! I made my choice and walked out. I can understand not giving sample to people whom are just looking for hand out, but I was a paying customer. I do not recommend this place to anyone on their poor attitude and poor customer service…

Beautiful sunny day in La Connor. Strolling down main street and stopped for cups of ice cream. The small boutique shop was empty as we walked in. The two employees one older(blonde, owner?) and a young blonde lady at both stood at the cash register… That’s all. No greetings, small talk, customer service? I have three little children excited about cold scoops of ice cream in a cute little tourist town and it was awkward and eerie! I paid $ 12+ dollars and she just scooped the ice cream and handed it over. No thank you, have a good day, enjoy the weather, come back again… Nada nothing… Wow! I hope the owners read this and remedy the service currently lacking.

My review is consistent with all of the others… Terrible and rude customer service. And ice cream is just downright unpleasant! After ordering a cone and milkshake I asked if I could try a flavor of ice cream before committing to a flavor but the answer was NO! I was clearly going to order something but after that there was no way I was giving them another penny! Glad i didn’t because I tasted my husbands lemon raspberry and it tasted like lemon pine sol cleaner! Yuck! Must be the cheapest ice cream they can find!!!

Workers were not inviting, the lady scooping the ice cream was rude. We regret spending $ 40 there and just coming into the shoppe period!

Sweets and IceCream quite good, but service was curt, bordering on rude(not c/w tourism hospitality of Skagit Valley). Owner/Operators clearly not with the best personality match for their business.

Delicious ice cream, I got an espresso flavor. You pay before you get your scoop of icecream, which I thought was different. But it works out well so you don’t have to juggle your ice cream and cards. The girl was was scooping ice cream was great about transferring my ice cream into a new cone after it broke. Also the icecream scoop was huge, you could share it.

One might think a little town would offer up the finest in hospitality and service to it’s patrons, most of whom are from out of the area. Not here. The woman who served the four of us was rude and curt. They have a policy of not offering samples before paying for the product(which seems completely ass backwards to me, but whatever) and even after we had ordered and paid for 4 large ice cream cones and a chocolate and caramel covered marshmallow skewer, I was told that they didn’t offer samples on vanilla, chocolate or strawberry«because it’s just a basic flavor». BASICISRIGHT. I’ve had better ice cream from a corner store or even a scoop of Dreyer’s. The other ladies who were in my party were unimpressed with the service and ice cream. I ended up throwing almost a whole cone away because it wasn’t good and our treatment was so poor. We weren’t greeted warmly, our simple questions weren’t answered(Where is the ice cream from?) and they basically wanted our money and shoved us out. The chocolate and caramel covered marshmallow skewer(three mashmallows coated in caramel and chocolate) was grainy and the chocolate was of low quality. Glad I don’t live close so I’ll never be back. Two stars because the shop was cute, bright and clean, but the product and service was lacking.
