The WORST service I’ve ever had! Our server, Lori walked by our table over 10 times before I had to stop her myself to ask us to fill our whole table’s drinks. She didn’t even apologize, just asked what we wanted. Our prime rib was cold as well as getting our order wrong then telling us if we wanted the right order it would be another 12 minutes. Will never go back and can’t believe she is still employed.

We just finished the brew the slough sponsored by the chamber of commerce and thought a bacon cheeseburger would hit the spot and were turned away and told we would not be served so we went to the laconner brewery and were treated with respect and cilantro. :)

This place does not care about their customers. I told waitress every time they opened the outside door it was cold due to a draft. I even had her feel my arms and she agreed I was cold then proceed to go in and out the door and leave it open after she knew it was making us cold. I was not happy and her TIP reflected her don’t give a shXt attitude. We were in town on business and there is not a lot of places to go in this little town. We ordered a steak that was served cold and without a knife to cut it. When I looked for our waitress, she was over at another table sitting chatting with some other people, once again not very attentive. When she finally decided to pay attention to us, we told her the meat was cold and we would like it reheated. She decided to have a new steak prepared which is not what we asked to receive but acceptable. My son who ordered steak that was cold decided to put steak on my plate. Believe it or not, they came and took it away. When I asked what they were going to do with it, she told me they would throw it away if it was improperly prepared. It was cold, not improperly prepared. I said that was very wasteful of them and I got a funny face. They did not care. She decided to have her manager come to the table and copped an attitude. We told her we thought throwing away perfectly good meal was wasteful. She did not care and proceeded to be defensive and making excuses. She told me the waitress did not understand all we wanted was the steak reheated and things escalated. I told her she had a problem with the attitudes in there and she disagreed. I asked her how she liked review and she encouraged me to post a review. I doubt. They are riding the wave of popularity they have since there are not many choices in a dinky town. They need to have more exposure to the real world. They don’t care about their customers.

We visited today on an impromptu trip from our home about an hour away. We wanted to take a drive and La Conner was where we ended up. We had lunch on the patio. Being on the water was lovely, the temperature outside was perfect, and we really only saw one hornet(surprising this time of the year and around food!). My 15yo had a cheeseburger. It looked very good and he said it was delicious. He considers himself an aficionado, so I will take his word for it. He eats a lot of burgers. The fries were really good. They seemed lightly batter-dipped and were perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. They were really, really good. My 13yo had the 2-piece fish and chips. The fish portions were large, so he could only eat one and brought the other home. The fish is cod which is our family favorite for frying, and it was coated with a nice beer batter. Same delicious fries. Boys love good fries! I really wanted crab, but none to be found, and the only other seafood on the menu was battered and fried except the raw oysters. I settled on the appetizer oysters, pan-fried, and hoped for the best since I’m pretty picky about my oysters. When they arrived, they were really big — 2“x3″ — and I immediately regretted not having inquired about the size before ordering. I am an extra-small oyster lover(raw or pan-fried) and generally won’t eat anything larger due to lack of flavor and just the ick factor. BUT, how wrong I was about these! They were really delicious! They were cooked to perfection(not gelatinous in the center, which the larger ones tend to be) and not tough, either. The seasoning was perfect — not too salty and enough herbs to lend flavor but not overpower the oyster flavor. They were pan-fried to a lovely crisp, but not too crispy-crunchy. Really, these were GOOD. The menu claims they are local and they did indeed taste fresh. They were served with tartar sauce(which was off-putting — I was not aware pan-fried oysters are ever eaten with tartar!) and some spicy cocktail sauce. I wanted Tiger Sauce, which they did not have, but as luck would have it, there were EIGHT of these babies on the plate and I filled up so fast, I brought 5 of them home. Where I have Tiger Sauce. And they are so, SO good cold, even better than when they were served warm. I HIGHLY recommend these! Our other travel companion ordered the Reuben sandwich which was good but not great. The rye bread was very pretty and probably would have been good but the outside of the sandwich was over-buttered for grilling so the bread tasted more like butter than rye. The corned beef was generous, the cheese properly melted, the sauerkraut was fine, but there was no appreciable amount of thousand island dressing(or catalina) to be found on the sandwich itself, though the menu claimed there should have been. So, we weren’t really sure what to think about that, but also didn’t ask. Service was fine. Our drinks came right away. It took probably 25 minutes to get the food, but we ordered a lot and they were busy. We were delighted to find free parking nearby. Overall, with a soda, a lemonade, and an iced tea, we were out the door for about $ 50 including an $ 8 tip. They get 4 stars from me for the oysters and the deck, otherwise it would have been 3.

We come here to sit by the canal and enjoy the wonderful pan fried oysters that the La Conner pub so perfectly executes, every time. Boardwalk seating is the perfect way to experience a slice of this town with a backstage pass to a backdrop of beauty. In addition to amazing oysters, I have to have a bowl of clam chowder. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. I like how there are always familiar smiling faces when we arrive. They have a special way of making you feel right at home while putting out good food.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!! As a former waitress I can say with confidence that the restaurant has no redeemable qualities. Bad service, bad food, bad cleanliness. The bar was ok, if you like a local pool hall type vibe. The only reason the restaurant survives is because it’s on the main strip with the most foot traffic. Walk around and find something else!!! Your stomach, your wallet and your nerves will thank me. A little bit of advice to the wait staff, you work in the SERVICEINDUSTRY if being friendly and helpful and making tips isn’t your thing, FINDANOTHERJOB!!!

Came here after seeing the Tulips. Location, ambiance, food quality, customer service are all worthy of 4 stars. Only draw back is the serving time, which should not be so long considering almost all of the food is deep fried. This location fits in great with the character of La Conner.

I gave them one star because I am currently sitting at the bar top and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten this bad of service before. My drink has been empty for five minutes ATLEAST and not one server/bartender has asked me for a refill. Then i tried ordering an order of popcorn and i had to remind the older bartender/server about it and get it to go because i am so over this place. I am in the service industry so I understand the struggle, but this is ridiculous. Thanks for nothing La conner pub and eatery.

Well, I’d(almost) up this to 5 just to get the stars above 3… they’re quite lovely. Pros? –Outdoor patio –Friendly and efficient services –Very reasonable pricing –Fries were addictive…(coated in sugar) –Breading on the oysters had fllaaavvaa! Cons? –Well, it’s not amazing… but it’s good! –Chill atmosphere is a bit different than other places in town, but I’m down!

my daughter and I were out sightseeing of our annual tulip festival in Skagit county. we decided to shop in Laconner and have lunch. Was in the mood for fish and chips and found this pub. We thought what the heck and tried it. The food and service was fabulous. and it was crowded with lots of happy people. We will definitely come again and recommend it to others as a great place to eat and relax.

Just had the fish & chip basket and it was absolutely delicious. Beer batter fish with crispy fries. Everything tasted so fresh. Pub was clean and servers were fantastic.

I’ve been here many times and had great food and service. The oysters are amazing. Unfortunately this visit was horrendous! After an hour of waiting for service we left. The whole place was irritated w how understaffed they were. One waitress was working her butt off but the other was being lazy.

We just moved to La Conner, and while exploring the local restaurants on Unilocal,I kept gravitating back to this place. mostly because of the menu. I was apprehensive because of the negative reviews but decided to give it a(cautious) shot anyway. In a word the experience was EXCELLENT. This place is not upscale(and neither are we) but based on our experience last evening. I would definitely bring friends and visiting family here. The food is very good and the prices quite reasonable. My wife and I split an order of steamed clams to start and then she had the fish and chips(with one extra fish piece(for me)), and I had the pan fried oysters. We needn’t have ordered that extra fish as my oysters were both excellent and plentiful. The view(s) are great. The crowd(we were the second couple in the dining room when we got there, but there were at least 7 other groups when we left) was mostly just like us. 50ish The hostess/waitress was pleasant, johnny-on-the-spot and helpful. Definitely a do-over for us. One thing I’ve learned with these Unilocal reviews is that lot of folks have an agenda. I did not see any of the one/two star behavior or food some of reviewers have mentioned. Doesn’t mean it never happened… just that maybe you owe it a chance to try somewhere that interests you. in spite of mixed reviews.

I give this place one stars. When we came in the older hostess/waitress was not friendly at all. I am a hostess myself and its always proper to great your customers with a SMILE! She sat us and I asked to be seated by the window and she replied with«hold on let me clear it» not sounding thrilled about it at all. My friend and I ordered the clam chowder which was very good. I ordered the shrimp salad and my friend ordered the garden burger. We were less than impressed. The server brought our checks over halfway through our meal. As if she was trying to rush us. She also didn’t ask us how our food was at all. She seemed grumpy and unhappy the whole time. Who wants to be served by someone like that? The other waitresses around us seemed way more friendly with the customers. I won’t be returning.

I came to La Conner for a little retreat with the significant other and we were both starving and didn’t have the energy to look for a place to eat so stumbled upon this restaurant. It looks like a typical place you see in those American movies. Pool table inside, dark walls and old atmosphere inside. What drew us in was that there was a lot of windows on one side of the restaurant that faced the waterfront. We were seated promptly by the window but noticed there was flies and other small insects buzzing around the windows. The Patio was open to the inside so I guess I am being picky when I say insects were present in the restaurant. The arrived in a timely manner and my fish and chips tasted good. The other half got a ruben sandwich which I thought was delicious. However, this place did not get 5 stars from us for a few reasons: 1) I asked for water without ice and the server which I presume is the owner’s wife said«sure.» Less than a minute later, we get two glasses of ice water. How hard is it to understand that??? 2) No one checked on how we were doing until we were almost done the meal. 3) Also our bill came up to something like 19 $. We gave a 20 dollar bill and a 5 dollar bill. The same lady who accepted our cash asked if we wanted any change. Like duh!!! I don’t know who tips 25%. She ended up not having change in the till and had to reach for her purse to get us change. Also asked if we wanted the pennies back too. Quite unprofessional. Other than that, decent food and decent prices.

Service is the worst! A table next to me asked for a refill & the waitress told them she’d «find her server» instead of walking 8 feet to just get it for them. We waited quite a while for our food before we just left. Too bad, it’s an interesting place with a great patio!

I’m giving them three stars(vs two) because I enjoyed my meal a lot, however the service was subpar. We arrived and stood by the«please wait to be seated sign» and waited. No one came, so we left looking for another place to eat a late lunch. Well my husband decided he wanted to eat at the pub so we returned. We waited behind a group of four and got a table in less than 10 minutes. We wanted a window seat, but they didn’t give it to us because there was a bigger party behind us that ended it. Understandable. Later a window table opened up and they moved us. Food — My husband and I both got the Halibut fish and chips(I got mine with a decent sized side salad) after one of the servers raved about it. And I agree, it was really good. I personally prefer cod, but halibut was delicious. A little on the soggy side, but I enjoyed it. Cole slaw was good. Our appetizer was the shrimp cocktail. It was actually tiny bay shrimp in a glass, sitting on cocktail sauce. Not what we expected, but good nonetheless. So I don’t know if our server was irked that we moved, or whatevs, but after she delivered our food she never came back. I wanted water, but never got the chance to ask for it. She came back once we were done to give us our check. I mean it’s not like it was busy or she had tons of tables. She just never checked on us at all. Pretty unusual. Lastly the place smelled bad. Like a dirty bar bathroom with those toilet tank round tablets. It was a divey place, sure, but shouldn’t smell like a toilet. Surprisingly the bathrooms were clean and fresher than the eating areas. LOL. Would return? Probably not. But I did love my halibut.

I took some friends from out of town to this establishment. The only accolades they gave this place is that, «It smelled like dirty B-Hole!» My parents were almost appalled by the comment, then once they thought about it for a minute they agreed. Another occasion I went to this bar with some friends from out of town. The Bartender with the annoying voice cut one of them off as he was walking in the door because he couldn’t walk very well. She told them that she wouldn’t serve him and he had to leave. Not bothering to notice that he had a disability,(Parkinson’s).
