Terrible service, the food was OK. We are 2 haole women, we were completely ignored when a table full of middle aged men were well taken care of. Took 20 minutes to get an iced tea and so long to get a fish sandwich I thought someone had gone fishing for it! This was 2 pm and there were only 3 tables of people. Will never go back and will write a letter to management. Horrid place.

Went to lunch after a round on the south course. Felt a little rushed. I order the fish burger. The bun looked like the butt of the bag. Small portion, under seasoned and for $ 16…Asked for raw onion not told there’s a charge… paid a dollar for onion slice… fries were oily and over done. Shame this has a great location and the lunches back when it was run by the hotel were great.

Superb. It was great timing, as Huli Sue’s just opened for dinner for the first time in two months. Our table overlooked the golf course and ocean. So magnificent. My wife and I ordered a Margarhita Pizza and Chicken Parmesan with Linguini. The pizza was outstanding. The crust was tasty and crispy and the sauce was just right. The server/manager stated that the first pizza was on the house and a new one is cooking all because the chef was upset about how the first pizza’s crust turned out. Wow. The chix parm was superb, probably the best we ever had. The sauce was delish, the breading slightly crispy and the chicken moist. What more could you ask for? After the second pizza arrived, the owner/chef walked over to our table to apologize about the pizza. He also dropped a complimentary salad off at the table. Unreal. The owner Mark, is a wonderful proprietor. He really cares about the food and his customers’ satisfaction. The salad was also out of this world. Mark also offered us a complimentary glass of wine or beer. I felt like royalty. Mark really knows how to run a restaurant. Bar none. It was a wonderful experience.

But a shell of its old Huli Sue’s self — the menu is mostly Italian, with only 2BBQ items(even then only for lunch): BBQ pork sandwich and nachos. The sandwich was served on brioche bread so greasy that it could have been deep-fried. The pork itself was okay, but could’ve used more sauce post-cooking. Our server did a great job, though, and mentioned that the Waimea location still does BBQ for lunch only(interesting, because their website doesn’t say that at all…)

Located on the East side of Waimea at Milepost 56 in the old Fukushima Store, Huli Sue’s for lunch is a bit of BBQ heaven. I had the pulled pork(well smoked) with slaw and crunch-coated french fries, the wife, fish tacos. Both dishes were prepared very well, were tasty and a good value. Cost for two lunch entrees and an iced tea was $ 29 +, a far cry from the $ 59 lunch we had yesterday in Hawi at Sushi Rock. A far superior value! I know, I know, apples and oranges; but still… Only negative comment is that the proprietor doesn’t seem to know what he wants the restaurant to be, a great BBQ and lunch fare place, or a fine dining restaurant in the evening. Two totally disparate views and the need to center on one theme with a congruent menu. Definitely recommended for lunch.

Forgetting the pork part of the entrée was a little greasy the pork was still good. However the corn pudding(served after 5) and the chocolate cake were both incredible. Chocolate cake was sooo moist, a must get.

The original location looks much better and must taste much better because our experience here was very average at best. The menu is limited compared to the original one and the setting was just ok. We ordered a bunch of things to share and our burger that was cut in half by the kitchen had grill marks on the cut side of the burger as if they had cooked it on its side. Basically nothing on the menu seemed much better than Denny’s and all four of us left disappointed because we heard good things about this place.

This place is located in the clubhouse of Mauna Lani Golf Course in Waikoloa. The main one is in Waimea which we only passed by on our way to the east side of the island. We went there for dinner(made reservations on the same day in the afternoon) and got the best window table which was PERFECT for the sunset. We had fish tacos and pork stew, both of which were REALLY tasty. The portions were also generous but we ended up finishing both plates because they were SOGOOD. The dessert — the mexican chocolate ice cream was also super-delicious, with the touch of cinammon at the end. The waiters were very attentive, nice, and sweet. The drinks were good as well. The bill was not too bad either($ 54 for two) for two drinks, two entrees, and a dessert, especially considering that we were in the heart of resort land and had the best meal during our entire trip at the big island. Overall, highly recommended for a nice reasonably-priced dinner near Waikiola. The menu is somewhat different from the one on the internet so do not pick your dish based on what you read on the website.

Located in the Golf Course Clubhouse at the Mauna Lani Resort(at the site of the former Gallery Restaurant) the setting is glorious. Although the menu is limited, the food was excellent, and the service was professional. Making it even nicer, it also was good value in a very upscale resort area where little else is nearly as good although often far more expensive. We went for Sunday breakfast(crab cakes with poached eggs, and huevos rancheros), and were so impressed that we went back for dinner(wonderfully smoked BBQ ribs, and a standard burger with all the fixings).
