I haven’t played tennis in several years and recently picked the game back up, but was frustrated with how packed the public Knoxville courts were or how neglected they were. Tyson Park was recommended to me and I haven’t been back to those other courts since. The staff is super friendly and there is always an open court. The fences are even lined with black mesh to keep the outside distractions to a minimum. There is a $ 5 fee to play here but it is worth every penny.

I have been playing tennis here for years! I was pleasantly surprised to still see Deidra Dunn still running the facilities when I stopped by the other day. She is a fantastic person and an even better coach! Since I have been gone she has since taken on the head coaching position at Maryville college as well. The facility itself boasts 14 lit courts and a great playground for kids. I know for a fact that they host one USTA tournament each month including one over the 4th of july weekend. Anyway it is a public court so no membership fees which can get costly. I love this place so if you are just in town for a brief time and want to play some tennis or if you are a resident, I would turn here for your tennis activities.
