Love this restaurant. We eat there regularly– sushi is always perfectly prepared and the owners are amazing people. Hibachi is delicious as well. I can’t recommend this place enough– a hidden gem in North Knoxville.

I am so disappointed! We love this place and tonight we stood at the hostess stand for over 5 minutes and no one even addressed us to say be with you shortly. I guess if you arrive at 7:42pm, you are not going to be greeted properly because you are too late for dinner. That’s okay, there were plenty of dirty tables and people in line behind us when we gracefully gave up our first place in line. Sadly, Chef Rikki has lost us…

Mehhhhh. I have been eyeballing this place because of the good reviews and we are constantly at lowes/Home Depot/southeastern salvage(obvs first time home owners) so tonight we finally stopped in for dinner. They have a 2 for 1 happy hour special on beer which my husband enjoyed. We ordered the crunch shrimp roll to split, he ordered vegetable hibachi with fried rice, miso soup, & house salad, and I ordered teriyaki tofu with fried rice, mushroom/onion soup, & house salad. The soup/salads came out first. I liked my mushroom and onion soup a lot actually. I don’t prefer miso soup and it smelled strongly of seaweed so I didn’t try it. He said it was okay but maybe a little too fishy. The salads were just iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing, which we expected. They were fine, but I do agree with another reviewer. The lettuce was swimming in dressing/water. Other than that, the salad was fresh and the dressing was really good. The sushi came out next. I asked if we could have chopsticks and the server acted like they cost $ 5 per stick. Other than that being weird, she was fine. The sushi was DROWNING in crispy flakes. It got all over the place and the sushi itself was somewhat falling apart. It wasn’t bad but it isn’t something I would order again. My husband’s vegetable hibachi came out a few minutes before my food. His was really good. I had a few mushrooms(he doesn’t like em) and the flavor was great. They didn’t offer shrimp sauce like most other Japanese hibachi restaurants I’ve been to, but the flavor was great on its own without it. My teriyaki tofu came out on a sizzling iron skillet, much like fajitas in a Mexican restaurant. I didn’t really expect it to be actual sizzling when I read it was served on a skillet. Anyway, the tofu was deep fried on a bed of only onions(stated on the menu) then the chef poured the teriyaki sauce on top at the table. I wanted to love this but the tofu was no longer crispy on the outside because of the sauce and MUSH on the inside. Most places at least cook with firm tofu for dishes like this and this was by far the mushiest tofu I have ever had at a restaurant. I think they honestly used silken tofu like you would put in a smoothie. The texture was kind of grossing me out so I didn’t eat more than half of the dish. The teriyaki sauce was overly sweet in my opinion as well. I went to the restroom as we were leaving and there was a ring of mold in the toilet and the women’s toiletries can was overflowing :| but on a side note, my husband sat to wait on me and there was a miniature cat figurine sitting on the stool beside him so that made the gross bathroom a little better, haha. Overall, based on the mix of good and not so good food, I would probably go back and try another dish or have hibachi, but otherwise I’m not daydreaming about my next meal here.

Good food. Clean establishment. They make sushi with gloves on. Sushi: I give 3.7 on scale of 5. Fresh, rice good — not dry or overly sticky. Iceberg lettuce fresh… no browning whatsoever. Good house ginger dressing. Hot items good. Muscles appetizer scrumptious! Hibatchi 3.8. Not Wasabi’s…no performances. But still good… you also aren’t stepping into dried food stomped into the carpet or forced to sit next to strangers or boistrous drum beats. Also not loud. A place you can go and hear each other talk. Glass tabletops with white cloth table cloths underneath. They have a sushi boat for two that always brings out the camera phones and customers leave looking — well — accomplished lol. Not super busy because it’s in a small strip mall. Almost no advertising. But they’ve been there for 6 years. Family friendly. May catch the owners cute kids there too. Courteous staff. Definitely recommend.

Awsome comfortable environment and great priced sushi. Beer specials are good both my wife and I can have a few rolls and drinks for less than $ 30. Ive had twice the price sushi at other big name places that dont beat what they have.

Great neighborhood sushi spot in East Knoxville. I knew sushi had really arrived in Knixville when Tangerine opened in a strip mall in my neighborhood. It’s now my go-to spot for sushi or just a meal at a friendly place. The staff is friendly, sushi is well prepared and well pruced and happy hour specials are great. Get past the location and give it a try if you haven’t already done so.

Great sushi selection and very good! The only downside is it is a little pricey, but still a great Japanese restaurant.

Lived in Knoxville many years. Was very skeptical when friend wanted to meet me for sushi… but this place was good! Mom had hibachi meal with steak & shrimp — VERY good! Tried several rolls & sushi. All good(except the miso soup — mushroom soup MUCH better!) Would DEFINITELY go there again.

We loved this place! On our way to Gatlinburg, I used the Unilocal app to try to find a decent place to stop for dinner. We chose this place based solely on the positive reviews. I called ahead and mentioned the positive Unilocal review and the It doesn’t look very impressive from the outside, but the food is excellent. My family is from the Chicago suburbs, and I would say this place is just as good if not better than some of our favorite places at home. The décor was really cool and interesting, and my kids loved the little koi pond. The employees were all really helpful and kind to our two small children(2 and 4). Their green tea was unique, but so good that I drank an entire pot myself. We had several rolls, all of which were really well prepared. The presentation was beautiful and the sauces were yummy. I was impressed at how affordable the prices were; perhaps that’s just the difference between Chicago and Tennessee. Our servers were very attentive, and I’m surprised there weren’t more people there. It was pouring rain, that evening, though. This place wasn’t as sophisticated or modern-looking as some sushi places we’ve gone, but I felt it was very authentic. I’d highly recommend this place.
