Steak ‘n Shake

This was my first experience at Steak ‘n Shake. Driving through rainy Tennessee on Christmas Day, there was not much choice for dinner options. We were pleasantly surprised at our meal and nice, speedy service. I had the taco salad, while my parents had chili spaghetti and chicken fingers. The milkshakes looked delicious– maybe next time! As we were paying up front, the manager told us that they opened at 5pm instead of their usual 24 hours, in order to let employees spend time with their family. I thought this was very nice!

This is the second location of Steak ‘n Shake I’ve eaten at, far having visited the Pikeville, KY location three times and given it a rating of four stars. I stopped by this location for dinner last Saturday, shortly after going to the North Texas at Tennessee football game. As would be expected, after a Tennessee football game, they would be very busy. They were filled with people waiting, and I had to wait a few minutes to get a table, but I knew it was well worth waiting. The service was excellent, and the food was quite good too. I would have to say, outside of Blake’s Lotaburger in New Mexico, Steak ‘n Shake serves the best burgers in all of fast food. I ordered a triple Steakburger with cheese and bacon and it was very good. Their burgers are orders of magnitude better than anything from McDonald’s or Burger King, and are actually more comparable in quality to the most upscale (and more expensive) burger chain burger restaurants.

If I could give a zero I would, twice I have been here the first time was a major disaster. We, party of 6, sat for 20 mins no one took a drink order and as a matter of fact no one even came to our table at all so we left. I did give it a second try, I was a half star better we (party of 4) did get drinks and we did order. The food was such a joke the slice of tomato was thicker than the meat, WHERE THE BEEF, I ordered a double and oh my gosh I could have walked across the street to Krystal and had a better piece of meat. I guess if you going for the shakes, my daughter enjoyed hers.

Extremely slow service and food was mediocre at best. 9:45 on a Saturday morning with three tables (including mine) and it took 40 minutes to get our order. I will NOT be back to this location.

This place was dirty and smelled awful inside. We would have left, but we promised the kids we would try it. Not impressed with this S&S location at all!

Love the option for a different breakfast choice in our area. Sadly, after about 8 tries the biscuits have never been acceptable. The rest of the food we’ve ordered was hot and well prepared. Biscuits are thin and crumbly at best. Even got some that were more like hard crackers yesterday. Unedible. Mentioned to drive thru attendant a while back but no results. Wish they could get it right. Don’t want to see them so serving breakfast.

This was my «premium» Reese’s milkshake. Waste of money and terrible service. 3 employees ignored me standing at the register before one took my order.

I enjoy eating at this location. The $ 5 menu has plenty to offer in terms of selection. I usually have a double steakburger with cheese, no mayo. Never order fries at any steak and shake, half the time they come even when you don’t order them. If it’s happy hour and you don’t mind adding some wait time to your meal, try ordering a shake. They have several delicious permanent menu items and some wonderful seasonal ones. The wait staff here are hard working and friendly.

I love steak & shake food but this was my first experience at this particular location and I can say I will not be returning. The french fries were cold and my friend found a hair in her fries at the beginning of her meal. We told the manager about the hair and he was rude and even hesitant about bringing her a new plate. He did eventually bring her a new plate but did not offer any discount on her meal. My friend voiced to the manager that she was disappointed in the way he handled the situation and he seemed unbothered. He took 3 dollars off her meal in the end but was short and unapologetic. My friends nor I will ever be returning to this location.

I love Steak and Shake. They have a great service, good food and a nice atmosphere. There are three pepper double cheeseburger is fantastic, fries and a coke 635, then today as I go to check out, everything is half price until next Monday. Man that just makes it even better, good place to eat. Have eating at Steak and Shake from the early 60s when they used to have their drive thru down in Tampa Florida. Great place to stop good prices nice people.

I have not had Steak N Shake since my work in Florida. I really enjoyed this chain and loved their food. This location was not the same. The food was ok at best but I will not make another trip to this location. It was about 22 minutes from my hotel and I decided to make the drive because of my past experiences. I should have saved my gas.

A very crowded (on Sunday at least) location with friendly, overworked, servers and the usual S & S menu. No different from all the others I’ve visited.

Great service, the waitress was very polite. Decent fast food. It was what i would expect from steak n shake.
