Ok, I have to make up for the previous poor reviews. Those poor reviewers have no earthly idea what they are talking about. If you are the type that has to go to nice shinny restaurants then this isn’t for you. It’s a hole in the wall. From my experience that is were you find true gems. The food is the best authentic chinese in knoxville period. If you want a shinny restaurant go to chucky cheese. If you want good chinese go to fulins or Asia café. If you want legit chinese go here.

My family has been going here since the restaurant opened around 1988. We visit almost weekly. Nothing has changed since day one. The décor hasn’t changed as well. The staff is always nice to us and one of the waitresses has been teaching some Chinese words to one of my kids. Family owned, not a buffet. You get good portions and it’s always been cooked just right. Some nights we’re the only ones there, other rimes almost every table is full. There doesn’t seem to be a consistent time when this occurs. If there’s anything negative, it’s that they take cash only. A couple of times I’ve forgotten this and made an emergency run to the ATM for cash while leaving the family behind. No, its not a fancy restaurant but it is a good place to eat when you want to take friends/family out and not spend your weekly budget in one sitting.

The food ranges from acceptable to bad. Every once in a while you can get something that is pretty decent. The prices are pretty good as long as you stick to the lunch or dinner specials. Amazingly though there is no general tso’s located in the specials so you have to pay like $ 9 for a very sub par general tso’s chicken that doesn’t come with an egg roll like the specials. They are VERY bad at telling you how long it will take to get your food ready. It is a complete guessing game. They usually say 15 – 20 minutes and sometimes you show up in 20 minutes to find your food has been sitting there for 15 minutes and sometimes you show up after 20 minutes and end up waiting an additional hour for your food(this has happened twice, I left the 2nd time and vowed to try my best to never go back). I have also had them be deceitful with pricing and money, trying to not give the appropriate change back. The building is rather run down and if the parts you can see don’t look very nice I can only imagine what kind of a nightmare the kitchen is. Bottom Line: I would say avoid this place unless they are basically the only option you have for some reason.

Food quality may actually be four star — everything I’ve ever had here was good — some of it was very good. Bad things — it’s in a sort of run down part of South Clinton Highway, the place is OLD and probably has the same décor that it had twenty or thirty years ago, and parking can be a problem if there are over four cars here at the same time. Good things — good portion size, good food quality, family owned, and great prices. A quart of fried rice is under $ 6, lunch specials from $ 3.35, dinner specials from $ 4.65. Yes, those are the prices for 2008. Another good thing — it’s not a buffet!
