Very nice and updated remodel inside. Feels more upscale. Food is on par with most Mexican establishments but a notch below Chez Guevara in my opinion. Usually a couple nice traditional Mexican options nightly as specials.

The service here is outstanding. Having three people greet you and make sure you’re happy and checking on you throughout your meal is just great customer service. The beers are cold by over priced. The food was fresh, but the fish tacos were fried, frozen fish with fresh surroundings. For the price, or just the location maybe causes that price, but overall a good experience. I will return.

Something has changed at Casa Don Gallo and it’s a HUGEIMPROVEMENT! Plating is more appealing. The staff are now in uniform attire. The food is far more fresh! Wait times short. Service quick and friendly. Have been here many times. Today was THEBEST!!! I had Mexicano Pizza! Yup! Delicious!

First time in today. Service was great and the food very flavorful. Tacos Carnitas and Taco al Pastor… both wonderful. We will come again.

Pricey, extremely lacking in service, average food, and I wasn’t impressed with the margaritas. We waited quite a long time for our server between times he came to our table, for example, getting our drinks took more than 10 minutes. It was busy, but I do run out of patience eventually, like anyone else. When we finally got our food he brought no silverware. I stood up and found the bartender who essentially went to get our server, who delivered silverware a couple minutes later, stone-faced and without apology. Later when I ordered a beer our server quickly rushed away without asking what I wanted. He seemed to prefer not giving us time to ask for anything. It was just not his night, but he also seemed to not notice or care that he was doing poorly. The salsa was great but chips weren’t, and my quesadilla was bland. Nothing to write home about. For the money I’d recommend going elsewhere. Heck, even if it were cheap I might say the same.

Food has gone downhill over the past few months. Ordered a frozen daiquiri, it arrived half frozen. The queso was the worst Ive ever had… gritty and bland. My chicken enchilada tasted like it had been sitting out for hours.

This used to be one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. We had not been there in quite some time. The service was fine but the food was very mediocre. I had the sirloin tacos and they were very underseasoned and bland. The new chips were very heavy and almost had a sweet taste. All in all very disappointing tonight.

Yummy tonight. We have eaten many times as it is right in our neighborhood. We are batting .500 at the moment. Depending on the night, it can be great or forgettable. But we all had great meals tonight.

Too bad it stinks because the location is great which is exactly why they do so well because the food is left of adequate and a notch below ok.

Good food, a bit pricy. Don’t come here for your standard cheap Mexican burrito, enchilada combo plate. They have a more sophisticated menu with some more unique items. Good margaritas too.

I’ve only been here twice but the shrimp enchiladas were awesome! Service was okay.

It’s good, not great. I would go for sure, but the crowd is the Northshore crowd. It’s not a destination place. Location, Location, Location

The atmosphere is geared towards a bistro and the mood is better for a romantic evening with someone. The pricing on the food is a little higher then other Mexican locations I have been too. The food is good so I would recommend it and would go back, but only if a woman is going with me.

Hands down, my favorite Mexican restaurant in Knoxville. I recommend the frozen maragritas and queso/chorizo fundido(the cheese is burned to a golden crisp by the hot skillet — one of the best flavors in the world). The inside is decorated in bold colors and is hipper than most Mexican places and there is a nice patio if the weather is nice.

Interior was kind of dark but decorated nicely. Way overpriced and way underseasoned. I ordered a three item combo(I think it was a taco, chalupa, and a chimichanga) and they tasted exactly alike. Not cool, man. I’d recommend Soccer Taco or Pelancho’s over this place– they’re less expensive and taste better.

Very overpriced for what you get. Service was ok, food came out fast. Salsa was overblended, not as good as canned salsa. My husband ordered a combo with three different items, but all three tasted and looked the same. The food here is incredibly under seasoned, if seasoned at all. It tasted very bland. The inside of the restaurant is very dimly lit, but nice décor. Casa Don Gallo has the potential to be very good but doesn’t cut it. Would definitely recommend other area Mexican restaurants.

Excellent Molchajete! Well worth the trip there. Staff was friendly and, seriously, the molchajete arriero pork is off the hook. P. S. Unilocal has the worst customer service on the planet.

Great food. If getting takeout just be sure to check it for accuracy before you leave. Luckily I live close by so it just became more funny when the food was wrong, so I took it back to get the right stuff, to just get back home and it was wrong again! Took a third time to get it right. Now I always check before I leave.

This place is good but it is a bit pricey. The margaritas can be very expensive especially if you order a top-shelf. The salads are good here. One time I ordered a chimichanga and the beans and the chimichanga were cold. I enjoy eating out on their patio. This place is a lot of fun for birthdays. It has turned into a neighborhood restaurant and it quite good. They have a ceviche that is good and so are the rellenos. If you sit at the bar you will feel short because the stools are short. Your shoulders come to where the bar is. It’s really quite funny. This place is really pretty good so give it a shot.
