Yes, it feels like a Big Lots in the hood right after an earthquake inspired looting. Yes, the floors haven’t been swept since Carol Burnette ended her last show in 1978. Yes, the discount pricing is harder to decider than String Theory using a Commodore 64. Yes, the owner smelt of elderberries. BUT, I bought a brand new Samsung 3DLEDTV for $ 700 less than Best Buy! Pick your battles.

When Bargain Hunt first opened in the Knoxville area, I loved it! They had all sorts of random stuff, including some really great items, at great prices and with the setup that the prices start dropping after it’s been on the shelves for 30 days. Now that the company has opened up so many stores, I think the«good» stuff is getting spread around much thinner. There are still the occasional good bargains that show up, but not nearly as often, and I’ve started noticing them putting FUTURE dates on their tags. Everything is dated on the 1st, 10th, or 20th of the month, so I can understand if, for example, they start dating items 9⁄20 after 9⁄10 has passed… but when items are being put out with a date a month or morein advance, it seems a little disingenuous to advertise prices go down after they’ve been there for 1 month when that clock doesn’t start for some time to come. We recently saw some items dated nearly 3 months in advance! They also have started making their starting price kind of high for some items. When they first opened, even the starting price was usually a decent deal, and if it stuck around for more than a month, it just got better, now some items don’t get below the price you can buy them elsewhere until they’ve hit 50% or more off. This is not to say there aren’t occasionally good or even great deals here, they’re just much fewer and farther between than they used to be.

This place is an absolute MESS!!! It’s about 5 steps down from Goodwill. Stuff is thrown all over the shelves in absolutely no order of any kind and if you are looking for something specific… forget it! They sell gummy bears and such for a higher price than Kroger or Walmart. Not such a bargain. The socks are also expensive and they only carry no-show socks. No ankle or knee high socks anywhere! The reason I am giving it two stars instead of just one is because I happened to find a Smash Book among the clutter for $ 3.00 when they sell for about $ 7.00 at A.C. Moore and Michaels. They only had the pink one though. Variety would be nice. It was an interesting experience to check it out but I don’t think I’ll go back.

I have had a very good experience here so far. I was able to buy several pieces of Sonos equipment for half off and saved over $ 800 — that made me a true believer. I have turned several of my friends on to this place and they all love it, we seem to be going once a week in search of the big deal. Make sure you don’t get caught up in the«compare to» prices on the stickers because they can sometimes be overstated. Thinks like soap and shampoo are often comparable to big box stores but there are still some deals to be had all over the store. It’s not for everyone but i am in love.

I was in love with this store until I found out they retagged items. I waited and waited for this desk to go down. When my daughter and I saw it, it was at the 50% off mark ata price of $ 132.00 I wanted to wait one more cycle and I said if it was still there it was meant for me to buy. I went in this past weekend and to my surprise it was still there. But, it had been put together and the new price was $ 182.00 with a new date onit. I was told that because they put it together they add $ 50 and the date rresets. «What». So whats the purpose of the concept of this store. Oh wait, they did say I could get it at the 50% off of the 182.00 but that would have me paying more then the week before. So this store is a no go for me now. Watch the price and date on the deal you think you are getting.

I love a great deal as much as the next person but this place always makes me feel like I just took a trip to the game gallery at the carnival and got had. I can never find that elusive item with the oldest date and the biggest discounts and almost all of the items SEEM to get retagged. but that would be unfair so I’m sure they aren’t doing that. Maybe sour grapes on my part but 6 trips to the store and no deals means I won’t be back.
