I had a great dinner with my husband here last weekend. The service was good, and we weren’t rushed at all. The wine selection was a little smaller than I expected for a wine bar, but both of the glasses I had were great. My husband’s cocktail was really good as well. I enjoyed the small plates more than the large ones, the artichokes and bacon flatbread being my favorite. We unfortunately didn’t have time for dessert, but will definitely try it next time!

It pains me to give this review. It has been one of our favs in Kirkwood. We at at bar and were forgotten about. Not completely, our bartender sat over by the kitchen and looked at us while he chatted for 20 minutes. We left and had dinner at Billy G’s. That’s how bad it was

Another great evening at this spot, probably my 5th visit. Ended up here about 9 pm on a Saturday and there were a couple open tables so our party of 4 was able to sit quickly. The spot has a nice ambiance inside, with barn wood on the walls. And there was live music, a fella solo with guitar. Nice selection of wines and the wines by the glass seem both reasonable and drinkable. On this particular visit we consumed a couple bottles of Château Montelena cab. The appetizers and small plates were both good. Enjoyed fried mancheco cheese, the hummus was good, small plate of salmon that was excellently fire roasted it seemed, as well as some tuna served with avocado. The service was consistent and attentive. I’ll be back.

Very nice small bites and comfortable atmosphere, I feel the wine lists could be bigger for a wine bar, but decent enough selections on offer. Not too loud and it feels like this could be a nice place to spend a cold winter night in.

I’ve had the pleasure of being at One 19 North Tapas and Wine Bar twice now, and each time, although I’ve only imbibed, it’s been a very nice experience. The first time was almost a year ago when I was home in St. Louis for Christmas and the second time was just last week when I was home for Thanksgiving. Each time also, I was meeting my best childhood friend to catch up on our lives after the past six months to a year since we’d last seen each other. One 19 occupies a coveted place smack dab in the middle of Kirkwood on Kirkwood Road and although its space isn’t very big and is longer than it is wide, it does an excellent job using the space to full-effect. There’s a bar along the right side of the restaurant when you walk in with plenty of seating and a second bar for seating at the back, in addition to lots of little tables with seating throughout. It would be cramped getting a big party in here, but for normal parties of 4 to 6, it should be fine. The most recent night we met was the Friday after Thanksgiving(a notoriously heavy restaurant and bar night), and true to form, One 19 was packed, but I was lucky when I walked in and we snagged the last two spots at the bar in the back. This turned out to be a very good move, because as we sat down the live band set up in the front of the house with their guitars and amplifiers. P. S. There’s no reason a restaurant of this size needs musicians with amplifiers, I’d actually have preferred to have no live music at all, it makes having a conversation much harder. But whatever. Our waitress for the evening was very nice, even after she found out we were just drinking and not eating tapas. The wine list is quite good for One 19, and I got a couple of glasses of red wine while my friend got white. It was a tasty Malbec, I had. We ended up sitting and catching up til almost 11:30 and the rest of the place had pretty much cleared out except for a couple of tables, but regardless we never felt we were being rushed, instead we couldn’t help but start yawning after a bit. I really enjoyed One 19, and maybe one day I’ll even make it in for some food when I’m back home in St. Louis — everything on the menu certainly looks good.

Unwelcoming. That’s the best word for our entire experience. What started out as a great night out, did not end so well here. Now I will preface this as I am a big fan of this place! Been more than a handful of times and always a pleasant experience. We were greeted by the«bartender» maybe the manager on duty, he talked to us about the drinks and wine and we ordered two cocktails and told him that after those we would like to order a bottle and more food. We started with the meat and cheese app and that was tasty, and came out quick. Unfortunately, that is the end of our positive, enjoyable experience. The bartender left and another server brought us waters half way through our app and we said we were ready for the wine and to order food. After that, he was gone and the bartender/manager was chatting it up with the kitchen and another server that was off – our drinks were empty for nearly 15 – 20 minutes and we were hungry. No one was behind the bar ever again(which is where we sat). Dirty dishes piled up, with no one cleaning them. By this time, the restaurant was clearing out and our server was helping the last few tables. We opted to tab out considering the lack of attention(even after telling multiple people we were going to be ordering a bottle of wine and dinner), which it took 10 minutes for them to get change on a $ 40 tab and we paid with $ 60. I was extremely disappointed because I love this place and had that been my first visit, I definitely wouldn’t be back. I hope that was just an off night. Meanwhile we enjoyed our bottle of wine and a delicious steak at Billy G’s where we were greeted immediately and had food within 15 minutes.

Bacon jam flatbread was amazing, we had roast beef tacos which were a special were also amazing, the oven baked goat cheese was so yummy on French bread, chipotle chicken flautas were okay… black bean salsa made them yummy. Bottle of wine was great and the service was awesome!

The food is out of this world. Excellent flavor combinations. HOWEVER, do not waste your time arriving prior to the release of the dinner menu, which is infinitely better than the lunch menu. But good luck; dinner doesn’t start at a set time. I did not come to a Tapas restaurant for a burger. It’s 4:30, I wouldn’t call this lunch.

I think their burgers are one of the best ever eaten!!! Everything is wonderful, great environment and service. My business is across the street so I frequent it at lunch!

A long time favorite. Only thing I’ve ever had that I’d recommend as against is the calamari, which was overcooked and rubbery. One miss out of 50 isn’t too shabby.

Date night! Is it okay for a guy to start a review like that? Probably not. I’ll punish myself by watching a preseason Rams game. but I digress… Yes, we had a rare overnight sitter, so we were able to hang out«after hours» for a change. We chose 119 North for dinner. We made an early reservation so we’d have time to find another place for music and drinks later. It was our second try to stop in here. The first time was without reservations, so we learned our lesson. I was reading a little write up on St. Louis Magazine on this restaurant and one thing they said range true — they get it right. The atmosphere, menu, service. all of it was just what you’d expect for a good St. Louis wine bar. Feint praise, I guess, if you’re a true foodie or a transplant, but this place has its sights set on upper middle class suburbanites and it really knows it’s audience. Everything on the menu is approachable. There are no mystery ingredients that make everything iffy. Okay, I’ve given myself up at a faux foodie, but the menu here makes me happy, except that I’d prefer for my wife to zero in on something a little faster. We just did a few small plates with a few different wines. We always share everything anyway, so tapas is kind of an unnecessary concept for us. We chose the Meat and Cheese Plate, Pan Seared Scallops, Brussels sprouts and Carnitas, All three of these were really good. If I’m going to complain, the crackers on the meat and cheese plate were of the from the box/not interesting variety. The waitress let us switch out the bleu cheese for, well chef’s choice as it happens, but he had the right idea. We enjoyed everything on the plate, especially the chorizo salami. The scallops were perfect, which is always a pleasure. The Brussels sprouts were undercooked and neither of us enjoyed them much. The carnitas were probably the highlight for us. We love us some Mexican and these guys know their spices. Something like this wouldn’t be made to order, so if you’re a carnitas fanatic, you might be missing the crispiness, but the taste for us was pretty amazing. I was kind of meh about the limp tortillas that came with it. Again, something more creative would have been welcome. The wine list was great for us and the waitress gave us ample tastes when we couldn’t make a decision(and when I say«we» I think you know who I’m talking about). Bottom line, though, we had a great time and will be happy to return again to hang with the upscale suburbanites.

Why, thank you, 19 North! You showed us a fabulous time. At first glance, I have to admit that I underestimated you: your ambiance is humble, crunchy, and a tiny bit hokey. Your food, though… there was nothing hokey about your food. I’m even willing to give you 5 stars even though the oil on the bruschetta was a tad old(dare I write rancid?), because you made up for it with a tuna even a tuna-hater would love. Your risotto was buttery and packed with flavor, and your fish tacos were served with flair and funk. And your service, 19 North. Let’s not underestimate the power of server Crystal’s wine service and food recommendations. At least, I think her name was Crystal. Like I said, the wine service was great. She was honest about which plates would please, and we never had to wait for anything. Bussers and host were sweet and friendly. 19 North! Thanks for making my trip to St. Louie a memorable one.

Overall the food was very good. Not great but better than good. We were here on A Sunday evening, with reservations, and had: fried artichoke hearts, Brussels sprouts, prosciutto and fig flatbread, scallops, and lamb chops. The flatbread was nice but strangely served with pieces overlapping each other. Once you get past the first couple pieces, the ones sat underneath are quite soggy. But the flavor was great. The scallops were good but overpriced and a bit inconsistent. Two were perfectly seared and two were slightly under done. For the price, these should be never frozen hand picked, but I have my doubts… The lamb chops were excellent. But again this is the second most expensive menu item and is described as «Four seasoned lamb chops.» Instead it was three chops. We noticed. Flavor profile was out of this world. Cocktails were great. The Bellini could have been bubblier and perhaps served in another glass. Personally, the wine glasses used here I don’t like much. And to say you are a wine bar somewhat I expect a bit better and maybe some differentiation in glassware for red, white, or speciality beverages. The real issue we had was service. It appeared heavily staffed. Yet our server referred constantly to her notes and couldn’t be bothered to engage in any conversation. The wait for her to reappear was passing long for the time and day. She sold us on dessert – tiramisu – only to come back and tell us they had sold out of it. We got the DELICIOUS tres leches instead, but she never offered to remediate her mistake by buying us the cake or coffee or anything frankly. Also, upon our second round of drinks we ordered and waited. And waited. Finally we realized(as did our server) that the bartender had gone outside to smoke mid shift with us waiting for drinks. The one place our server shined was in getting behind the bar to finally get the drinks for us. The level of disappointment I had in the service made me see more issues with the food. We came here based on a best casual restaurants of 2014 list. We’ve been working our way through these lists and this was our first real service disappointment. At first we thought our server was to blame, but then the hostess sat at a table next to us on her cell phone sipping a beverage, and finally the bartender topped it off by abandoning the bar with no server while people were still dining. It’s a shame and I hope this place can resolve these atmospheric service problems. It has great potential in its food.

Came here a few weeks ago on a date. We each had a few glasses of wine and ordered a small plate. He ordered the prosciutto & fig flatbread and seemed to enjoy it. I ordered the oven baked goat cheese. I appreciated the overly acidic tomato sauce as I thought it cut through the richness of the goat cheese rather nicely. The restaurant is certainly cute but definitely on the smaller side so larger parties might not have the easiest time fitting. My only complaint would be the label as tapas bar because when I hear«tapas» I think traditional Spanish tapas and this restaurant is using it more to convey the idea of small plate. Either way I had a nice time and will likely come back with girlfriends for an app and some wine.

A colleague and I met here for happy hour. It was a great addition to downtown Kirkwood’s plethora of beer bars and pizza places. While it is a tapas bar, the menu is somewhat limited. However, they had a small Monday special tapas menu with discounted options and the drink special were 3 bottle choices for $ 20 each(1 white and 2 red). We opted for the Shiraz bottle… a bit to spicy and tanniny for my taste… should’ve opted for the Cabernet. The calamari was a plentiful amount of both tentacles, bodies, and rings with a very light, crunchy batter that held up to a wonderful spicy, sweet chili sauce. The other must try tapa is the baked goat cheese & marinara served with homemade pitas… they even brought us extra pita so we could sop up every little bit! I definitely recommend you try One 19 North for happy hour as a nice alternative to the loud lame beer bars.

My boyfriend and I love this place for impromptu date nights. Last night we revisited and sat at the bar. The place is cute, quaint and well decorated. The drink selections are great for a small local restaurant and the price point is in line with other comparable restaurants. They change their wines and drink specials frequently so there is always something new to try on the libations end. Two of our favorite dishes are the goat cheese baked with a red sauce and their BBQ shrimp. OMG. Those shrimp. They are served in a cast iron dish with a butter and cream based sauce with a hit of Old Bay seasoning. They are to die for. Cut up the shrimp and eat with spoonful of the sauce. Yum. My boyfriend and I crave this dish and I even tried making it at home after Sauce Magazine posted the recipe. It’s really spectacular. Steven was a friendly and attentive bartender. We will continuing visiting this establishment if it stays the same quality and I don’t forsee that changing anytime soon.

We celebrated the fiancé’s birthday here. They get really busy so make reservations ahead of time. We arrived around 7:45 and were immediately seated. Our waiter was nice and the service the entire night was great. We started with the pita bread and hummus. It was delicious. The pita bread was warm and even alone was tasty, and the hummus… fantastic with bits of feta cheese crumbled on top. We also enjoyed a glass of moscoto, and seriously it was the best moscato I have ever had. We then had the scallops which were divine and cooked really well and also shared the taquitos. By the end of the night I was so full I though I was going to pop. Everything was delicious and perfect. I can’t find one thing to complain about in our dinner. The ambiance is cozy and romantic. A great place to go on a date or celebrate an anniversary or special occasion. I highly recommend having dinner here and the rest will be history. I wish I would have tried one of their cocktails because they sounded amazing. I will definitely be coming back for one of those!

I’ve always wanted to stop by this place and I finally did! This little restaurant makes downtown Kirkwood THAT much better. There are so many generic bars and restaurants in Kirkwood that are pretty darn lame. The area has so much potential and I think One 19 is the perfect step in that direction. It’s unique, warm, and welcoming. I didn’t get any food but the menu looked great and it smelt amazing. I split a bottle of wine with a friend at the bar. It was pretty packed(Thursday evening) and I can imagine it gets crowded often. The hostess and bartender was super friendly. If you are in the area I highly recommend checking it out. I can’t wait to go back and try it out for dinner.
