I needed a place to work between meetings and Poppinjay’s was in a great location for me to potentially work. There is free WiFi and the coffee was decent. However the staff was playing music very loudly and it was very hard to hear while ordering and there was no chance of me being able to get anything done. I would not recommend this place for anything more than getting something to go.

What can I say about this place that hasn’t already been said. The service is amazing slow, the food doesn’t even come to the level of mediocre, and the prices are far above what they should be for the quality or amount of food. All the food is made very overly processed and cheap ingredients. My one major warning is that they do not use their horseradish mustard sparingly. It might be OK if it was good, but it was just something out a squeeze bottle purchased from a box-store or equivalent.

There’s just really no point in going here. The food is not great and it’s overpriced and will leave you hungry. Especially for breakfast it’s hit or miss, they *might* have something you want one day then the next they don’t. What a waste, this place could do so much better by raising the quality of food and lowering prices. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is a couple of the people that work there are great, otherwise forget it.

Staff is nice, but food is sub-par and overpriced. I would rather just each a granola bar in my office.

The only decent lunch option at Carillon Point, but still a little overpriced. The staff is very friendly and helpful tho. I always get the ROASTBEEF&PEPPERJACKWRAP.

Wanted to support our local small business’s in the area but this place is making it difficult. We ordered an $ 8.00 sandwich that was average, nothing special. and a $ 4.00 latte that had way too much syrup in it. yuck! For $ 13 I could have gone next store to starbucks and gotten a lot more for my buck. I really wanted to like this place but was let down.

I ordered a turkey/havarti toasted sub and it was ok. The bread was good and they put a decent amount of meat on my sandwich. I also ordered an iced tea and small bag of Sun Chips. Everything came to $ 12!!! The food wasn’t terrible but definitely not worth $ 12. The staff was very friendly and they got me in and out in a hurry. They also have a decent amount of seating inside. The parking situation BLOWS. This place isn’t bad but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

This place is the definition of «got you by the balls» type of establishment. Very conveniently located, it is the only reasonable lunch alternative in the area. The food is below average, the prices are higher than they should be but it will do. I never actually enjoy what I get but it serves the purpose. I just wished it served it with lower prices, better quality food and more healthy options.

I’ve never actually given a business a 1-star review, but Poppinjays really does deserve it. As a lunch place at Carillon Point, it is incredibly lacking. Not only is the food overpriced for being essentially a soup and sandwich shop(hard to get anything less than $ 9 – 10), but they really underdeliver on food quality as well. They once made enchiladas with what appeared to be cream of mushroom soup(no, really), which is also alarming. their meals are generally lacking in taste, even for things that you’d think should be incredibly easy(chili or lasagna). They thrive based on the fact that there is no other cheap competition in their price range(everything else at Carillon Point is a $ 13 meal or more for lunch), but that only adds insult to injury as you’ll find yourself waiting in line for 30 minutes just to receive bland sandwich for 9 bucks. I’d say pass and make the 5-minute drive into downtown Kirkland for superior food at lower prices.

I had a great experience at Poppinjays. I missed the lunchtime rush, so the service was very fast. The décor is calming. Several have mentioned there are costco muffins there, i don’t mind. This isn’t a ‘from scratch’ spot, although all the things I saw looked very fresh. If you’re in the area, stop in for lunch. The food is fresh, the turkey veggie sandwich was delicious.

Gotta agree with Amber M. I’ve since moved to SoCal, but I recall all too well Poppinjay’s costco muffins, etal. In fact, they were the catering /food provider at an in-house cafeteria at a Redmond company I worked for. Her employees loathed her. And she was indifferent to us(company employees…‘customers’) How they survive is beyond me.

Great food, nice rotating variety of specials, but watch out for that lunchtime rush! Across the street from my work, this is a very convenient location to access by foot. If you are driving, there is a parking lot — bring your ticket to the restaurant and they will validate. If you come between 11:30 and 12:30, be prepared to stand in line. It will extend all the way to the door. They work quickly, but each item is made to order. The sandwiches, soups, and salads are fantastic. There is always a generous portion of meat on the sandwiches and the cheese is so flavorful(roast beef and pepperjack = YUM!) If you eat in, the sandwiches come with chips and an orange slice(garnish) on a little plate. If you take it to go, they put a small bag of Lay’s in your lunchbag — I always have a feeling of nostalgia with this, remembering my elementary school lunches. The soups change daily, but I loved the potato with garlic and bacon. Rich and flavorful, it was the perfect thing for a winter day. The chicken dumpling was… disappointing, but then I realized I don’t really like dumplings. Little flavorless balls of goo in my soup? I’ll pass. The one amazing thing about their soups in general is how they hold the heat. It’s some kind of magic, but I can take a cup of this soup in a to-go styrofoam container across the street in 20-degree weather and it STILL needs to cool a bit before I can eat it. The salads are fresh tossed, but for the pasta and fruit salads that are sitting pre-made. The pasta salad is really lovely, with a tangy dressing — not soaking wet like so many unfortunate pasta salads and fresh cherry tomatoes. The caesar salad was a bit wet for my taste, but the lettuce was crisp and the dressing flavorful.

Updating my review to 5 stars. Why? Once I left my handbag — with money and useful paper documents — over here. The owner looked me up on LinkedIn and contacted me about it. He kept it for weeks as I was traveling and not always in town, and returned it in a very friendly way. Everything was intact from before. Unfortunately, I work a bit farther away from this place now, but would love to hit up this place again.

hmmm… i hate to write bad reviews. so i will keep it simple. however, when i look at the options of food that’s out on presentation, the bagels and pastries… looks a bit familiar, oh because i have that in my kitchen too, we both got it at costco! well the three sandwiches that i bought for lunch to bring to a doctor’s office, looked okay, i hope they tasted okay too. but it looked like a very simple sandwich, one that i also should have gone to my kitchen to have put together :(and also for the price a little unreasonable!
