My family and I have been coming here regularly for 10 years. Family run business. So kind and sweet with delicious food. Ben has a die hard following. They make you feel at home with excellent customer service. In this ever hanging Kirkland I’m grateful for places like Momoya! You should come join the club!

My worst nightmare came true this evening… not only did they discontinue their most awesome happy hour menu but the gyoza was just as awful as the other restaurants now. Definitely tasted deep fried instead of pan fried and not made from scratch. They also cut back on the portion size. Now you only get six pieces, which is fine I suppose because they were so terrible. ** Please bring back the homemade, pan fried, plump and juicy gyoza! ** For dinner we ordered the typically filling and tasty Sukiyaki. We were shocked to see they’re serving this in a much smaller bowl now… I mean noticeably smaller. To make it worse it was quite short on both noodles and beef. I didn’t even eat all of mine… too depressed. Prices are the same while the portions & quality are absolutely not. The Sukiyaki was $ 16.95 and definitely not worth it, not anymore! Ugh.

Had the salmon special. Good portions, fresh fish, and great service. Great little restaurant to check out.

This is my favorite sushi spot on the east side! I always order Ahi Poke appetizer when I go out for sushi, and this place has the best! It is obviously family operated, so the staff can get overly busy but it is worth it and they are friendly when you get their attention. The restaurant itself could use a little TLC. Great sushi though which is all I come for!

I’ve been here several times but this is the first time I’ve gotten a dish that wasn’t sushi. I ordered the two choice combo with steak and salmon teriyaki. The salmon was good but nothing to rave about since the sauce masks most of the flavor on it. The beef though was not your average beef teriyaki. It came in large slices of tender steak and was very good. Kind of pricy for teriyaki(18 dollars) but delicious if you’re willing to put in the cash. I would highly recommend getting the sushi or chirashi bowl instead though. Restaurant itself is rather small so don’t try to come with a group larger than 4 without calling ahead of time. Waiters are always very attentive.

It’s small but the service and people are extremely friendly and lots of regulars show up and the staff knows people by name or faces. My favorite is the Nabeyaki udon. For the price, you get a lot of food. It doesn’t seem that way when you see it but then you dig through the loads of fresh and crispy tempura before you hit the layers of meat and vegetables and smooth broth and chewy udon. Utterly satisfying in every way possible.

Overall appraisal was about 3.5÷5. I had an enjoyable experience here. Food was pretty standard and nothings super special. Ambiance: 4⁄5 Sort of a small restaurant with the family/hole in the wall place vibe. Overall it was quiet and well kept. Service: 4.5÷5 The lady serving us was so adorable and nice. Positive attitude from her as well as fairly fast arrival of our food. She paid attention and refilled our teas often. Good. Food: 3.5÷5 I got sushi rolls. Overall, compared to those I’ve had in Durham and Oto Sushi, this could not beat those. The rice didn’t always stick together very well, and the taste did not strike me as super specially arranged or fresh. I appreciated the free green tea and the free salad and miso soup that comes with the katsudon. Katsudon was fairly standard as well. I just thought that for sushi you didn’t get that much for value — you get 5 – 8 pieces of sushi per roll that are of variable size. Yes, the pricing is doable at around $ 9 – 10 per roll which is a bit cheaper than other places, but again this was nothing that wowed me. So overall pleasant experience and I might come back if I’m in the area but not going out of my way for it.

My first time here for Ramen It was delicious and nice presented, even for to-go! The broth is lightly salty but flavorful. It comes with so many toppings, complementing each other nicely. A shrimp tempura on the side is crunchy and tasty Will come back to try everything else

The fish for sashimi was decent. Fried roll was meh. Regular roll that was ordered was also meh. I don’t remember exactly what was ordered to be honest because I actively tried to block out my memory of this place after the fact. We all left pretty unsatisfied after picking at things and eventually just went somewhere else to eat even after munching on some of the food. The service was good though, and free tea is always nice. Aside from that I can’t really suggest this place. The establishment is relatively small so it could probably get busy in there.

1) the complementary green tea and miso soup was very good. 2) salmon sushi — it was a very red color that I’m not used to. I would pass. 3) large scallop sushi– it was very good and sweet and the pieces were thick. YES. 4) uni sushi — did not exude the sweet and creamy taste uni is known for, I would pass. 5) yellow tail — very tender and good. YES. 6) white dragon roll — this roll had crab, shrimp tempura, and white fish on top woth wasabi tobiko. Very good. YASSSS. 7) spicy salmon roll — nothing special and did not love the salmon, I would pass.

Incredible sushi. This place tops nearly every sushi place in king county. Excellent quality and freshness. A+

I went here a few months ago, but I’m writing a review now(because that’s all that matters). The quality of food here is amazing. Sushi/sashimi is incredibly fresh. I had the chirashi bowl and you can easily replace any of the fish with something else. I don’t like octopus so I traded it for some more salmon. Seating is limited, it’s a small joint. It’s worth the wait though! =) I need to bring my parents here the next time they visit!

My husband and I met for lunch at Momoya Sushi after I read all the great reviews about this hole-in-the-wall hidden gem next to the Petco in Kirkland. It’s a small restaurant that gets packed, and we sat at the sushi bar, since there were no tables available. We got to see a lot of the action behind the sushi bar, which included the sushi chef, a cook preparing cooked foods and the server. Perhaps they are a family-run establishment, as there were some terse words exchanged between them(a bit uncomfortable to witness) during stressful moments. But to the customers, the server was nothing but friendly. I’ll be honest, I was pretty underwhelmed by both the portion size, selection of fish offered and quality. I got the sashimi lunch, which cost $ 14.50 — if you look at my picture of my lunch, I think you might see why I was a bit dismayed. The quality wasn’t even that great, and some fish were still slightly frozen when I bit into it. Also, their menu is a bit limited, so in addition to our sashimi/sushi, my husband and I wanted to share fried oysters. They are not available a la carte, so we ordered the lunch special for it. We had to ask for the soup/salad that comes with it, which is a bit annoying. So, very small space, very overwhelmed staff, small portions for the price, not the best quality or presentation. Yeah, I think we’ll be sticking with our sushi favorites elsewhere.

This place is a gem! Our waiter is I think the owners son and he is so sweet, positive, and helpful. The place is pretty small and family run and the son is the only waiter. I never felt neglected or ignored. He’s so upbeat. The second time I came with a larger group of 6 he comped our drinks for no reason. So naturally we are customers for life now. The food is DELICIOUS. Such a little diamond in the rough. The sushi is really fresh and I’ve never been disappointed with anything. YAY!

Pretty solid neighborhood sushi spot, very friendly service and ridiculously reasonable prices! This place is low on frills but high on dining satisfaction. I highly recommend the New York roll… Or ask for a recommendation. Parking is super easy since it’s in a strip mall.

This is a solid sushi place located in a strip mall just seconds away from Costco Kirkland. The restaurant is a modest borderline hole-in-the wall place, but what really shines is the quality of the food. Décor is very unassuming, which adds to the overall charm. We started off with the sesame spinach appetizer and ordered the Lotte roll and Seahawks roll. The food was packed with flavor and high quality fish was layered generously over the rolls. The prices are great too. We walked away very satisfied and would come back in a heart beat.

I used to come here as a kid, but it’s been several years since I’ve been back. Walking into the restaurant, I forgot how small this place was. They have limited bar seating and approximately 7 tables. Small restaurants means small staff, so the food can take a while to come out when they are busy. Eating here during peak hours is not ideal unless you want to wait. The food may take a while to come out, but the friendly staff and the quality of the food make up for it. The food is delicious. I came with a group of 8 and I got to taste a variety of menu items. None of which were disappointing.

First time there and it was top notch! Rainbow Roll Red Dragon Roll Veggie Roll Chicken Teriyaki I had been a long time fan of OTO Sushi until the last year or so when quality & portion size had gone down and pricing had gone up. SUPER excited to have stumbled across Momoya. The rolls were excellent. Great portioning, fair pricing. Service was outstanding even though the restaurant was packed at lunch time. I’m certain we’ll be back very soon.

Momoya never disappoints. It is definitely my favorite sushi spot of all time. I would go more often, but it is a bit further on the Eastside, so I try to get out there when I can. The head server, Beny always provides exceptional customer service. The restaurant has a nice cozy feel to it. It is family owned, so the chef is a bit flexible on customizing rolls for us. We are regulars there, so they greet us by name every time. I highly recommend stopping in here for sushi whenever you are in the Kirkland area.

One of the best sushi restaurants in the area that you do not want to miss out on! I had a spider roll, spicy tuna roll and my friend had ramen which was all freshly made and served to us quickly. They also serve yummy complimentary matcha green tea. It is a family run business with great customer service and Benny is one of the nicest servers ever. Definitely my go to sushi spot!
