Ding Dong the witch is dead! Surprise Surprise, Mike is out of business! Not even the insured business from the nearby hospital and park and ride were enough to overcome Mike’s bad attitude. Good thing he saved that nickle for a drink refill cause he will need it. Apparently, his policy of crapping on customers didn’t work out so well. Hope he finds a better day job, although I don’t know anyone who hire him! SNAP!

Amatuer logo and font to match their amatuer sandwiches. Only still open because of convenience to hospital. Wasn’t a fan.

Sub-par. We got 2 sanwiches, the bread was soft but teetering on soggy which wasn’t nice, we got completely different sandwiches and they both had an almost inedible tangy-ness to them, the meat and cheese were skimpy and so were the condiments, mine was very dry for ordering extra mayo and for the bread being somewhat soggy. it’s the inside of the sandwich that is supposed to be moist not the opposite. Their hours of operation are 7 – 4 mon-fri NOT open weekends, and the parking lot is very small, there was no where to park. I’d eat at subway or safeway deli over this place. Probably will not be returning.

I always make a point to stop here for lunch when I’m in the area. I don’t have a favorite since every sub I’ve had here has been amazing!

The tuna salad had a little bit too much mayo for my taste but great bread, hence the three star rating. The Soup Nazi is the nickname of a character on Seinfeld. The term«Nazi» is used as an exaggeration of the excessively strict regimentation he constantly demands of his customers. I have met the Sub Nazi, and I rather like his store. This owner knows that combination of carbonated water and syrup mixed together at the soda fountain is cost effective. On average, a five gallon bag-in-box of syrup costs about $ 60. It will yield about 30 gallons of finished product. Do the math: BIG savings here! I mean, for the owner. If I asked the owner to quote me the cost of a CO2 tank, I’m pretty sure he could quote me the price off the top of his head. As other reviewers have indicated, patrons who wish to share soft drink refills are not welcome, as that is considered stealing here.(The manager responded to a one-star review by saying, «After reviewing the SECURITYCAMERA footage, it is clear that you and your husband were sharing a drink, as you do every time you come in. It’s unfortunate that asking you not to steal has encouraged you to post false information.») The good news about this attention to detail is that this store is immaculate. I have to say if I knew I was being recorded on a SECURITYCAMERA I would have washed my hair and put on lipstick. The devil is in the details. The store policy is that each half of a one whole sub must match exactly to get the whole sub price. If a customer wants different condiments(e.g. no peppers on one side, and extra tomatoes on the other side) and it is busy, that might delay the line and increase the probability of a mistake being made. I realize that the quicker the line moves, the happier customers will be if they are on lunch break. What if you want mustard on one side of a whole sub at 3:30PM? Store policy is store policy. The second time he was explaining the policy it came off as overly patient, like I was an idiot if he had to actually explain why the policy existed throughout the day. He did not say that store policy does not stop the sandwich artists at Subway or Jersey Mike’s from preparing mismatched halves of a whole sandwich, but really, just think about it. This is the Eastside, and we all know Subway or Jersey Mike’s food is rubbish you can pick up after soccer practice for the kids. You get what you pay for. I gave three stars because the food is fresh, because both greed and gluttony are cardinal sins, and because the menu has some diverse options. For example, I still want to have the chicken, walnuts, dried cranberry, and apple sub. It was so popular it was out of stock late in the day. I will come back to see if it tastes as good as it sounds. I will bring my water bottle again. Given the fastidious attention to cookies baked daily you might want to drop by fifteen minutes before closing to score a free cookie. Don’t get your undies in a bunch if you want to share. Yes, Mike, I am the woman with unwashed hair and new baby who wanted half of her sub with mustard. In the future I can just ask for a side of mustard and a side of black olives, like my husband did. He got the olives, I got the mustard. I just asked«Did he charge you for the olives?» «No,» he replied«he didn’t even charge for the olive container.»

Homemade soup, the freshest bread I’ve ever had and carved meats. This will be my only stop for subs going forward.

Sadly, Eastside Subs appears to be permanently closed, now. —– A solid four-star sandwich shop. The tag-line for this place is «the same idea, just better.» That’s definitely true; in a showdown between Subway or Jimmy Johns and Eastside Subs, Eastside wins hands down every time.(Note: Their meat doesn’t beat Togos, but then, there aren’t any Togos up here anymore.) The interior is always spotless and the food prep area is neat as a pin every time I go. The décor is minimalist, but the view is beautiful and sunny on gorgeous days and even has a rugged Northwest charm on overcast and rainy days. While I’ve read reviews about the owner being grumpy with some people, he and all his employees have always been incredibly friendly and courteous to me. So I give the service here a solid star for a positive attitude and an impressive customer-first ethic. The subs are full of fresh ingredients but unpretentious. If I have a complaint — and it’s minor — it’s that they use cheaper roast beef than I’d like. I’m still looking for a deli that piles it on there like a classic mound of hot fresh pastrami. But for the price, location, décor, and cleanliness, I’ll take the supermarket-style sliced roast beef and enjoy it. Definitely worth your time if you’re in the area and hungry for a good hero sandwich.

I am not sure what is going on with this place but I the whole vibe there is very unfriendly. I ordered a meatball sub and made the mistake of asking what it was made out of. I don’t usually eat pork so I usually ask what is in things, but really didn’t expect his response. He was curt and and obviously upset that I bothered him with the question. I paid and left but really the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, pun intended.

One cold day I was really wanting some soup, being a vegetarian this is honestly a very hard thing to do on the eastside. I happen to find a menu at work about a new place that opened up, the menu had vegetarian soup!!! This place is very casual, clean, friendly and has incredible food! I just got a veggie sub and four bean veggie chilli. The first thing that I noticed was that the sandwich tasted so amazingly fresh.(I honestly have not eaten at another sub shop since). The soup blew me away! The ingredients blended very nicely, very homemade style going on; delicious! I have to say that I have been coming here ever since, sometimes 3 – 4 days a week dragging along anyone I could find! I always get the same sandwich, but I think I have had all the veggie soups. I know that between all my friends and co-workers we have tried it all and every one of them tells me the same things: awesome! This review might be over the top, but you know what? There are few restaurants that really blow me away and those places should be talked boasted! If you have not been here, do yourself a favor and get down there!

Today was the first day we tried Eastside Subs. the reviews looked promising and so did the pictures. they also have a logo on their website that claims they are best subs in western WA(by evening magazine). I got the Southwest chicken, my friend got the meat ball sub. mine was OK, the amount of meat that was on it was fairly low, the bread nice and soft. overall it was a decent sandwich. My friends meatball sub was not so well, the sauce is very very thick and looks/tastes like tomato paste. she did not finish her sub as she was disappointed. I would recommend that they put way less sauce on the sandwiches and perhaps lay off the canned tomato paste. its better to use real tomatoes anyways. we might try this place again, if we were in the area but would not be a deal breaker if i didn’t eat there. Wish there was at least 1 really good sub/deli place on the eastside.

Clean place, good hideout away from work colleagues, fresh ingredients, really soft bread, reasonable prices, no line to have to worry about. Parking is difficult as the lot is small and there are lots of people around for various medical reasons since it’s in a medical district. There is actually a parking garage that’s underground that is easier to find parking than right out front. The business is hard to find as the sign is only in the window and the color scheme is clashing and in art this is called blurred line– so the text is hard to make out on the background since they are similar tones. The line is a bit confusing and everyone seams to line up on the wrong side first. It is like a Subway with more interesting pre-selected sandwich themes and you can’t actually see the ingredients that they are putting on your sandwich, for some reason. They do have a sign with the toppings but again it’s hard to notice until one of the employees points this out. The second time I was here the staff member that was not bald seemed indifferent and like he was being bothered to serve food outside of the rush of lunch hour. This really wasn’t too off-putting as he still got the job done and the sandwich was still tasty. I asked if avocado could be a substitute of bacon, but unfortunately it cannot. I already had predicted this, though. Overall this is a well-balanced sandwich shop and it’s in a nice setting and quite. This is great to beat the normal rush of lunch and to have a private lunch away from other coworkers.

The food is «Michael Crabtree»(mediocre). The service was great on my initial visit, however, the more I went back, the more I felt I was inconveniencing the employees. They definitely can’t handle more than one customer in their facility at a time. My visit today, they assumed I wanted«everything» on my sandwich. When I asked the gentleman to remove the onions and tomatoes from my sandwich, he simply stated«I can’t, there is somebody behind you waiting for me». I will definitely not return to this place of business unless they change their work ethics for the better.

Why, oh why, do I continue to trust Unilocal food reviews in this town? Was recently at the hospital and decided to give this place a try based on reviews. Unfortunately it just reminded me to never depend on Unilocal in Seattle. I tried their«most popular» sub, the southwestern chicken and was thoroughly disappointed. The«grilled» chicken tasted like it was boiled. The sauce registered barely above mayo on the flavor scale. And the bread that everyone raves about is the mushiest, blandest pillow of yeast I’ve ever encountered(I guess people don’t like to chew). My sandwich was 85% bread, 15% filling. For reference, I think Other Coast Café and Jersey Mike’s make the best subs in town. And I’d go so far as to say that Subway is better than this place, and that’s just sad.

Don’t make it here very often because I am from out of town … but I stop by here whenever I can. Today, I tried the Blackened Salmon Sandwich. WOW — the salmon was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was spicy, but no at all overwhelming — a perfect combination. Highly recommend that sandwich!

True hidden gem. This place serves the best sandwiches on the eastside. Bread is fresh and soft. Meat is well marinated and veggies are fresh. The Options are also creative and yummy. Location is a bit odd but worth the discovery. Interior is chic and clean. Think coffee shop like feel for a sandwich shop. We love sandwiches and jimmy johns, panera and victors were our default destinations. But we stopped going there after discovering this place and I suggest you do the same. You will leave happy and full :-)

My husband’s one word review of this place: Legit. Ha! That is actually a huge compliment coming from him as he LOVES sandwiches! We decided to try this place because we were just in the mood for something fresh and easy… and also not too far away. I haven’t found a sandwich that I just adore at Jimmy John’s and wasn’t really in the mood for one of those again so I went to Unilocal and checked out what was nearby. Very glad we found this place with all of the nice reviews! We decided to give it a try… I’ve been daydreaming about Hawaii lately(okay. all the time!) so I thought I’d try the bbq chicken sandwich with pineapple. The server looked at the pineapple when he was making my sandwich and thought it wasn’t up to snuff so he actually changed it all out to make sure it was fresh, good quality stuff to go into the sandwich. The produce was also all very fresh too! My husband had a cold sandwich and swapped out some of the ingredients(a different cheese, etc.) and the employee complimented him on his choices. And, as I already said, his sandwich got two thumbs up! The bread is also made on site which is nice — more freshness! — and it tastes pretty good too. It’s soft and it’s obvious that it hasn’t been sitting around too long. It doesn’t have a really strong flavor or anything which makes it a good vehicle for sandwiches too! We tried a salad but unfortunately ended up with a different one than we wanted. Everything looked fine but we’re just not fans of bleu cheese! Overall, a «legit» spot… we’ll be back!

I feel bad reviewing this place as less than a 5, because every review thusfar has been a 5 star review. The ONLY thing keeping me from a 5 star is the price. For me I thought oh wow $ 6.95 for a full sized specialty sub… But upon arriving to the subshop I noticed in very small writing ½ sandwich. I think $ 6.95 for a half a sub is a bit much! They also charged like $ 3 to make it a meal. My husband and I both got a ½ sandwich and made ONE of them a meal. We paid $ 18 for lunch. I don’t mind paying $ 18 on a lunch, but I want to be blown away. I unfortunately was not blown away. Now we will get to the goods; I got the chicken teriyaki sub. It was good. I really enjoyed the bread. The owner was very friendly and asked us how we liked our sandwiches. They were good, as I mentioned just a tad over priced for my liking.

I love this place. They have really great sandwiches with a lot of options to choose from. This place has classic sub sandwich options and some more gourmet options like the honey mustard chicken. The best thing here is their bread it is great. They advertise they bake it fresh daily and you can tell. The bread is some of the softest bread i’ve had and tastes great. Pricing is reasonable. My first time I ordered a full size but quickly changed it to a half when I saw how big it was. Service is good, people there have always been courteous and quick and willing to help. The only negatives is location can be a little difficult to find, and being across from a hospital add under administrative building it can get busy at lunch which is fine but it can get busy with people on lunch breaks who tend to hang out after they are done eating making table space hard to come by around lunch time. This is definitely my new favorite sandwich place.

This is a nice little sandwich place with a good menu. The staff has been solid. The location is a bit odd in the lower level of one of the newer Evergreen Hospital buildings on the far south side of the campus next to the bus transit center. Once you find it, the interior is simple but nice and clean. Good views out the big glass windows. Value for the product is good. The ingredients are nice — I like the thin sliced veggies as opposed to big chunks. Everything was fresh. The bread tastes good and is very soft and pillowy — kind of like a dinner roll. It isn’t bad at all — I just personally prefer a more crusty type bread. For folks that like a softer bread, this is your place. I do definitely plan to return,(maybe I can convince them to do crusty roll option!)

Wow. If you’re on the Eastside looking for a sandwich, this is the place to go. It’s kind of in a weird little spot, right in the middle of all the medical stuff in Totem Lake. There is some parking right in front but I’m not even sure you’re supposed to park there. I did anyway though ;) Walked in about 2:00 so there were no other customers. The place is only a couple months old so everything is brand new, very clean, and very shiny. Probably at least as clean as the hospital across the street! They have build your own options and some various deluxe sandwiches. The bread options are whole wheat or white and any sandwich can be toasted or untoasted. I of course opted for the club sandwich. Got it on wheat, toasted, with some oil, vinegar, mustard, mayo, salt and pepper added to the turkey, ham, bacon, tomato, and lettuce. It was EXCELLENT. And huge! It was over six inches long and wasn’t narrow like most sandwiches you get; it was wide and came with a nice amount of goodies inside. Everything tasted nice and fresh. Both the guy who made my sandwich and the guy who rang me up were very nice and friendly. And even the price was really good, the sandwiches range from $ 5 — $ 7 for the half, which is plenty of sandwich. I will definitely be back, especially since it’s basically next door to Trader Joe’s. Check it out if you get a chance.
