Love coming to Nico’s. But don’t know what was up with the bartender tonight she had the worst attitude and looked absolutely miserable. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had here. I’m in the industry I understand wanting to go home, but damn girl it’s Friday night(money night) put at least a fake ass smile on your face and get through it. I love the live music and especially Matt Coffman, but if she is bartending definitely wouldn’t stick around.

I absolutely love this place however the so called Karaōke DJ was completely unprofessional– he had 4 empty beer bottles sitting in his table and proceeded to get another from the bar.

After my initial review I am updating… I had the pleasure of the owner contact me, something you rarely see in this day and age. I was VERY impressed to say the least. I am actually at the bar now and the atmosphere is 180 from before and I have to say I really enjoy it. The waitstaff is very friendly especially Michelle who makes sure you aren’t left hanging for your next round. In conclusion, the owner’s response along with the vibe I am getting tonight has Nico’s a 5 star place. Close if you live in Kingwood and worth at least a trip or two. Thanks again to Greg for taking the time to tap the pulse of his patrons. THAT is taking care of your clientele.

The atmosphere is decent. We had great service from the bar staff, but I wouldn’t go there to eat. Food was bad, and we waited an hour to get one hamburger. It wasn’t crowded, or busy. I would go back to drink and hang out, but not to eat.

What can I say about Nico’s. It’s a bar. One of the very few in Kingwood. Bartenders are great, drinks are good, music is a hit and miss depending on the night and it mostly hosts an older crowd. You could most likely run into your parents on your night of partying. With that being said, as I stated earlier it’s one of the few bars in Kingwood. Overall, it’s a nice place to chill and people-watch.

This place is like you seen in a movies, when you walk in everyone is staring at you. Seriously, this place sucks. I really wanted to like this place since it was close to my house but the service was horrible, drinks were mediocre and atmosphere unwelcoming. Good thing there are few other bars near by. Definitely won’t be going back here.

This place is a dump. Harsh, but true. My group of friends(7 total) walked in to try it out during their happy hour on a Wednesday afternoon. We are all fairly new to Kingwood and heard this was a local spot to check out. Not to mention the reviews were decent, the menu looked alright, and drinks were affordable. Right off the bat we felt unwelcomed. Heads turned to stare, no one greeted us. Okay, no biggie. We pushed together tables and got ourselves situated, waiting for the rest of our group to arrive. We walked up to the bar to ask about menus, drink specials, etc. If it wasn’t for the other nasty patrons already hitting on us, we would have been completely ignored. The bartenders(one older blonde and one brunette with tattoos — one of them named Christina maybe?) avoided our questions and literally rolled their eyes at us. I guess maybe the fact that we were a younger group that annoyed them? We were mid-twenties and up while the rest of the place looked 45 and up so maybe that’s why we were given the cold shoulder? Regardless, money is money and we were looking for good burgers and good beer and a good time to sit and relax and sadly we were judged the moment we walked into this place. Eventually we left because we never received service and it was clear we were not wanted. Even as we were walking out we had people cat-calling and sneering, «Yeah this might not be a good spot for such a young crowd.» If you’re looking for a damp and smelly bar with bartenders who have attitudes and absolutely zero appreciation for customers then this is your spot. Otherwise I’d steer clear.

Watched the fight here last night. What a cool atmosphere! Bartenders and patrons were welcoming & the drinks fast & good. Tried to order food around 11pm but kitchen was closed, good to know for next time to either come earlier or eat before going. Will be back very soon to try the crawfish.

Came here last night for the first time to watch the mayweather fight. There was no cover charge and they had a big screen set up on a truck outside so awesome! Bar service was fine no complaints but they did stop taking food orders at 830. but when we first came we did order some nachos which was pretty good I really wanted to try the tamales maybe next time.

Steak Night thursday. 14oz ribeye was good and tasty. Not bad for $ 15. The CRAWFISH though: the BEST I’ve ever had. Juicy, spicy, interesting seasoning and tail meat slipped out perfectly. Cool staff, too.

Love this place for a quick drink after work. They also have awesome food… best burgers I’ve found. Oh, and the Homemade tortilla chips… so good!

We only went for a nightcap. Strong drinks. Well lit. Nice patrons. What more could one ask for in a small neighborhood tavern. I will make sure to visit it again.

Tried this little place out today. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and the honey were just ok. I wouldn’t go out of my way to try this place again.

I was at this bar for less than 15 minutes on a Friday night and you couldn’t pay me to go back again. I witnessed an over intoxicated man back up directly into another car before I even entered the building. The man also asked my girlfriend and I to help him back his car up for him.(at least that’s what I thought he was asking) After informing a bartender about the accident, the owner of the place, followed by her drunk husband or whomever came outside and tried to cover her ass instead of address the situation properly. Don’t waste your time. And if your in your 20’s, definitely don’t waste your time.

Went here on a whim since we live nearby. I have to say we were a lil disappointed. The place was a lot more«bar» than«grill», so we felt pretty uncomfortable eating here. Maybe this was our fault for thinking it would be a good place to get a bite to eat. Bar food is the fare, and it was ok. Small menu. We ordered fried pickles and onion rings for apps — both were just ok. The onion ring app is small, but they were crispy and beery — not too bad. The pickles were different than I’m used to — they had more of a fish-fry type of mealy breading — but I love fried pickles, so they didn’t go to waste. I had the club sandwich, which I really enjoyed — it was piled high with turkey and ham, and the bacon was crisp. This is where the 2 stars come from, since everything else was not very good. Hubby was pretty disappointed. He wanted the chicken parm sandwich, but the waitress came back from the kitchen and let him know they were out of chicken. So he ordered the burger — it was sad, small, and very obviously from frozen. They also slathered it with mustard, which was not listed on the menu ingredients(he hates mustard). He was hoping for a fresh handmade burger, this didn’t deliver by a long shot. The fries were also cold. Bottom line, the food was just ho-hum, and the atmosphere was off for dining. It might be worth stopping in to grab a beer or a club sandwich(takeout, probably).

I don’t understand why this place has such high ratings. We just moved to the area and We stopped in after we were out riding for the day. We only daughter it out after the high ratings. As another post said, people turned around and stared as we entered. We sat down, ordered beer. Had to ask for menus. Showed the check in special, and the waitress/bartender didn’t know what to do with it. He ordered pizza(as it was reviewed so high) and I got a chicken sandwich. Limited menu. There was a lot crossed out with a sharpie. My sandwich was ok. Spring mix, chicken, and a sweet Italian dressing. His pizza was awful. Little flavor. Little(and tasteless) sauce. It seemed to be an inconvenience for the waitress to check on us, bring silverware, or get a new beer. If we go back, it will be for beers only. I don’t recommend the food, it’s not what it’s been reviewed as.

I have been to Nico’s before on one of their«busier» nights, didn’t get the vibe I was looking for so decided to put that one away for rainy days. This was about 8 months ago. With all the rain yesterday, my husband and I decided to stop by as I had forgotten what it was that made me not care for this place so much. Oh yea. Walking in, it felt like everyone turned around in the bar and stared. It was very awkward and off putting. Maybe because the crowd was mostly 45+, which I don’t have a problem with but it seems they had one with my age. Making matters worse the lady bartender took both of my husbands and my license and stared at them for what seemed like forever. Like some hologram was going to pop out of my picture and scream FAKEID! Finally, she looked up at us(not to pleasantly I might add) and asked us what we would like. There is a check in offer that says you can redeem a free second drink. Trying to escape the tension in the bar we decided to sit out on the patio area covered by an awning and watch the rain. We had a great time talking and drinking our first drinks. We walked back in to redeem our check in offer and the bartender stared at us for a second, telepathically relaying the message that said«Really?» She begrudgingly gave my husband another scotch that was half the size of his first one(I can kinda understand, it was free) and I paid for another Lonestar. This is the kicker. I gave her a $ 5 and she walked around the bar with the money taking care of other patrons. Once she got to the register she rung up the beer and I could clearly see the change due said $ 2.50. She walked back to me handed me $ 2 and walked away. Seriously? I saw the damn total in 72 pt Arial font behind you lady. I would have given her the $ 2.50 as a tip, which is what I intended to do. It’s just 50 cents, it probably would have gotten lost in my washing machine if I kept it anyways but its the principle of it! THEPRINCIPLE! I have heard great things about the food and I fully intended to order some until all this went down. I smiled and bid the bar adieu and vowed I would return for a non-alcoholic lunch at some point. Maybe after another 8 months when I forget why I don’t like this place.

I don’t live in Kingwood but I drive out of my way to play Trivia on Wednesday nights at Nico’s. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had at a bar. Plus, this place books more quality bands than any bar I’ve ever seen. I haven’t been on the weekends yet, but I hear it’s packed and they always have great drink specials. If I lived in Kingwood, I’d probably be here three or four nights a week. If you’re looking for a very nice place to go have a few drinks with friends, enjoy great entertainment(especially the team trivia nights on Wednesday) then this is your place. I also love supporting local business owners and avoiding the chain/corporate places that I will be classy enough to not name… :-)

This place is fantastic. Great people, delicious food and always a fun atmosphere. Whether it is a quiet«night at the pub» or ready for getting out and dancing. Nico’s doesn’t disappoint. Angela is a fantastic bartender with a great personality and friendly smile. She earns every dime she makes with extremely attentive service… make sure she’s working when you go. We’re looking forward to many more visits to this outstanding neighborhood bar and restaurant.
