Just returned from a two week trip overseas and was craving Texas BBQ. Ran by this afternoon and grabbed a two meat plate. The brisket was fall apart tender with a subtle smoke taste. The ribs were tender also, with a great bite. The house made sauce is tangy, rather than sweet, and is a nice change of pace. Reasonably priced, at $ 10.50(including tax). Highly recommend.

Love this BBQ place. I eat here weekly, sometimes twice a week. I always get the chopped beef sandwich $ 6 including tax. Occasionally he will have pulled pork. Make sure you have him add some of the spicy BBQ sauce to your sandwich. Makes it taste even better. He prefers cash, but he’ll take credit card if you spend a certain amount(i think $ 15).

Love love the chopped beef sandwich and beef sausage. The chopped beef isn’t mushy mystery meat that is premade. He hand chops it while you wait. The only reason I am not giving this a 5 is because his hours are inconsistent and not a big fan of vinegar based sauces. My boyfriend likes the sauce, but I am a traditional Texas BBQ sauce kinda girl. The hours posted on the truck, does not mean he will always be there unfortunately.

Florist, snowcone business and bbq food truck… if you’re driving down loop 494 and in need of any of those businesses, you are in luck. My review is based on the bbq truck of course, and let me tell you it really hit the spot. I stopped in for lunch on a Monday since Bills was closed and saw their neon«open» sign turned on. I also saw this truck is missing 1 rear tire, which tells me it won’t be appearing at your favorite food truck park anytime soon either. The menu is pretty basic and located on the side of the truck, they also have a to go menu. I chose a sliced brisket sandwich and the sausage link, with a bottle of root beer, totalling $ 11.50 Brisket sandwich — moist, smokey and tender and contained onions pickles and their homemade bbq sauce. This almost orange-colored sauce is light and vinegar-based and actually went well with the meat. 4⁄5 Sausage link — looked like poop, but it was actually homemade and very good but slightly dry, because I forgot to dip it in the extra provided bbq sauce. The way it was packed into the casing reminded me more of a homemade beef link than sausage you might find at most other bbq restaurants. 4.5÷5 I now have a go-to bbq spot close to my work, thanks Luling Smokehouse!

This is a food truck with food modeled after the Luling restaurants in Luling and on Richmond Avenue in Houston. Beef sausage and brisket are wonderful. Chopped beef sandwich great. Sauce is best around.

Being a transplant to Texas, my friends tell me that Luling BBQ is the bomb, and when I found out there was a truck near Houston that offers this goodness, I just had to try it. Driving on 494 you can’t miss it since the smell of smoked meats will draw you in. They serve the standard brisket, ribs, turkey, chicken and sausage. You can order by the pound, a combo meat plate or a sandwich. Their sides include beans and potato salad. I like to order the combo plate which gives me some sort of variety. I gauge BBQ places based on how good their brisket and ribs are, and at this truck, I give it 3.5÷5 stars overall. The ribs were pretty average, so I would give it 3⁄5 stars, I was expecting more flavor. But the brisket I would give a 4.5÷5 stars. I like my brisket moist but not too fatty and when I see a thin sliced cut I was a bit hesitant and fearing I’d be disappointed but when I took a bite, it was delicious. The brisket is nicely smoked, had char but not overwhelming, not too fatty or dry either, one of the better briskets I’ve tasted. The sides were pretty standard. I did enjoy their BBQ sauce, the flavor was a nice add to the wonderful smoked brisket. Friendly people running the truck. And if you pay cash, the price on their menu is what you pay but if you pay with card, they charge a small fee which I thought was tax but its the processing fee only.

This food truck was pretty awesome! No seating unfortunately so we took it back home! We got a couple chopped beef sandwiches and a plate of ribs. The sides were typical grocery deli potato salad and the baked beans were a bit peppery(which I actually enjoyed) and the meat was great! Not your typical Texas style ketchup based bbq sauce either, rather a mustard base sauce which was actually quite tasty. We’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Definitely worth a try. The owner is awesome and while the hours tend to be a little inconsistent, it’s worth stopping by if you’re passing through this part of the city. Loved the sausage link and while the brisket was good, I was expecting it to have a little more of a smoky taste. Will certainly stop back again the next time I’m in town.

The truck was back today. It was involved in an accident causing damage to it. All’s well now. Got my fix today. Have plenty more to enjoy tonight and tomorrow.

I wanted to really like this place; however. compared to some of the others(Lockharts) I left feeling like my brisket was dry… Maybe it was an off day?

Happened to be in the area when we had a craving for BBQ. First experience eating at a food truck. We ordered beef brisket sandwiches, ½ chicken and ribs and sides of potato salad and baked beans. All in all, very nice, but by far the best was the brisket sandwich. Just delicious — soft bread, pickles, onions, finely chopped beef. I’m salivating again! Found the ribs to be a bit on the fatty side and the chicken a bit on the dry side, although there was an incredible smokey flavor. As for the sides — average. Wouldn’t order them again. The baked beans tasted more like the flavor of black eyed peas and the potato salad felt commercially made. Great value for money at $ 6 for a sandwich and $ 9 for the rib plate.

We flew into IAH today and we were headed to see friends in Kingwood. We were in the mood for BBQ and headed to Luling based on the Unilocal ratings. So it was a surprise to find a food truck! The four of us wolfed down sandwiches with a side sausage and sodas straight from the freezer. What a great meal! We will definitely stop by again — maybe next time we will bring food for our friends.

Ah man… this place… the food is awful. We had ribs, brisket, turkey, beans, and potato salad. Just a waste of 12 bucks. The brisket: Zero smoke flavor. Barely tasted like beef. The turkey had that«nitrate» flavor just like the smoked turkey you buy in the grocery store. It was so dry, i think they would do better marketing it as turkey jerkey. The ribs were absolutely horrible. I honestly think they might be the worst I’ve eaten. They were dry and also had zero smoke flavor. Actually a quite rubbery. I am almost positive they were cooked in the oven and not an actual pit. Even the sides were terrible. The beans are from a can and the potato salad is from the deli. The one thing i did like was the bbq sauce. It is not texas sauce. Its mustard based like you would find in the carolinas. Unfortunately, the two little disposable contaners provided were no where near enough to sequester the terrible flavor I have in my mouth two hours later. My question is why would anyone bother eating this food? More importantly, who the hell gave this place all the good reviews? The proprietor’s family members? Most likely it was the same retarded Kingwood people that give good ratings to other crappy local restaurants like Raffa’s and Hasta La Pasta. Avoid this place at all cost. Choose McDonald’s instead. You will thank me I promise.

This place is amazing! We ordered 3lbs of sliced beef for the 4th of July. His prices have gone up to $ 14 a pound. The beef was great. My husband also ordered a chopped beef sandwich which was the best I ever had! I looked forward to going back! **make sure the weather is good when you go bc it’s located outside.

I was in town for work and wanted to get some authentic Texas brisket. After a couple of what I’d consider average meals, I stumbled on Luling via Unilocal.I obviously haven’t tried every BBQ joint in Kingwood, but it’s hard to imagine there’s anyone close to Luling. It’s excellent. Unlike the other BBQ in the area, Luling’s brisket seems to be authentically slow-smoked and has such a strong, rich, smoky flavor. For $ 9, you get the brisket, sauce, some very good potato salad, and some average beans. That’s tough to beat.

Wonderful sliced beef sandwiches and good ribs too! Started going to this food truck a few months ago and love it. Good prices too.

This brisket is good! His homemade sausage has a unique flavor not found at your supermarket or most other bar-b-que establishments. Family owned and operated. Talked to the daughter who makes their sauce, but Dad wouldn’t let her divulge all the ingredients. It is vinegar based. They offer the usual one, two and three meats plates and sandwiches too. I’d rather get it by the pound and a couple of links to go… for those moments when ya just need some«que»… …like right now, be right back.

Fast service, wonderful aromas, good potato salad and tasty BBQ all from a roadside truck. Fortunately for me, it’s VERY close to my work. The guys in the truck are really nice. I like brisket, but be sure to ask for the fatty bit if you are into really moist brisket. Overall, I think this is a gem in the Kingwood area.

Just got done with my first experience and OMG! So happy to have such an awesome bbq place close to home. I got the chop beef plate with beans and potato salad. Homemade bbq sauce… spicy beans and yummy potato salad. All for $ 7.50 plus sliced bread. Will return soon! But not Tuesday or Sunday because they are closed :)

The barbecue from this unassuming truck is not to be underestimated. Alberto, the owner, server and man on the pit, learned his craft at the legendary Luling City Market. If you know ANYTHING about Texas barbecue, that should be enough to make you stop by for an awesome chopped sandwich or brisket and sausage plate. Note that they’re closed on Tuesday’s, aka: the truck isn’t there. ALSO: for some crazy reason Alberto has decided to close at 5, closing off service to anybody who regularly stopped(like us) on the way home from work. No idea why you’d make this choice if you sell food for a living! In the one minute I stopped to ask him about his hours, two other cars had to drive by. If you work a 9 – 5 your only shot is Saturdays.
