My favorite restaurant in the area. Has the best sushi and Asian cuisine in the hudson valley.

Today was Chinese New Year and our thoughts turned to Chinese food. My husband saw all the good reviews for Kingston Wok, so we decided to see for ourselves. The food is not Chinese food, nor is it Thai either. We didn’t have sushi, so I will take a pass on reviewing their Japanese fare. We ordered Shrimp Pad Thai and it was a gloppy, disgusting and tasteless heap of noodles stuck together w/4 – 5 small over-cooked shrimp and some peanuts on top. I couldn’t eat it and tossed it out. Our egg rolls and spring rolls were also sub-par: greasy and full of shredded cabbage. Another disappointment. My steamed veggies were fresh, but the«garlic sauce» was not garlic sauce. It was a generic, oily, dark sauce w/some kind of garlic flavoring and a couple of black beans. The black bean sauce tasted exactly the same, looked exactly the same and like the garlic sauce, was quickly tossed away. My husband found his hot and sour soup to be edible, but not what he thinks of as authentic or even good. So all in all, not sure why all the wonderful reviews. One would think that an authentic Chinese or Thai restaurant with good food would have opened in the Kingston/Saugerties area by now. Very disappointed.

Good solid Chinese and Thai food. Always good friendly service. They have sushi but I eat that in other places. Had pad thai last night and was excellent. Also best dry noodles in town. Order what ever you like and you will be happy.

Fantastic ambiance, absolutely wonderful. The food, however… Left a lot to be desired. My boyfriend got the General Tso’s Chicken lunch special and was super not impressed. Very small serving, half cup of kinda cold rice, six pieces of chicken. The chicken had a strange flavor and almost no spice. The wonton soup he had was«pretty good». I got two sushi rolls, a spring roll, and miso. The soup was the best miso I’ve had. The sushi was okay, nothing good or bad about it. The spring roll was gross though. Would not recommend.

Good reasonably priced Chinese food. We got sesame chicken, orange chicken, and crab rangoon as an appetizer. All were decent. They give u these little crispy things(fries wonton strips?) on the table with sweet and sour sauce while u wait for ur food which was tasty.

The takeout was repulsive. How do you screw up chicken with broccoli? Well, to start with, there was only 2 thin and overcooked slices of chicken, the rest was all broccoli, for an entrée order(not the combo special mind you). Then to top it off, the broccoli — and there was a lot of this, was soggy and overcooked(not crunchy and fresh). A separate order of Shrimp fried rice was equally gross — the rice wasn’t even separated, but stuck together, and the shrimp was stale. Sorry, this is one of the worst chinese restaurants I have ever eaten from.

Terrific food, great service! Not a sushi eater, but a visiting well-traveled co-worker ate there every night for two weeks and asked for some special sushi. Christine acquired special dishes just for his taste, and he raved about them all! I love the hot and sour soup, and the specials are fabulous. The chicken dumplings are delicious, and I haven’t found any other local restaurants that are as good as this one.

I appreciate that everyone has a different set of guidelines for what makes a place«good», «worthwhile» etc. This place has not met mine. We stopped for a late lunch during our slow drive home. My husband is a devotee of Chinese food and asks to go anywhere we have never been. This made it onto his to do list for our trip. I stuck with our shared order of cold sesame noodles and some beef fried rice. My husband had his usual General Tso’s Chicken dish. I tried his egg roll, which was alright, but not special. My rice was ok, but not delicious or spectacular. Our only confusion was that instead of a sauce, the chicken was quite completely SLATHERED in a syrup. An honest to goodness SYRUP. It had all the properties and appearance of maple syrup, but with a different taste. Adding to the weird, the server placed the egg roll UNDER the leftover rice/chicken/syrup mix inside the take away container??? By the time we got home(3 – 4 hours later) the natural absorption of the egg roll had been given so much time to sit like that, it had taken up almost all the syrup. Not appetizing if you ask me…

Decided to try this place out after finding out you can sit here. I got sushi as usually and it was really good. Although I felt like the duck sauce they served with the fried noodles was bad. Also the friend noodles were cooked a little to long. My unsweetened iced tea wasn’t that great either. My boyfriend got sesame chicken and he wasn’t that impressed. We started out with pork dumplings which were pretty good. Not sure if we’ll return but we just might.

The food here is ALWAYS fresh and tasty, service is tremendous, you are always greeted, seated, and served with a smile. Fresh sushi prepared on premises and the menu has plenty of options, I strongly recommend it!

The chinese food here would get 5 stars– the sushi is not great though. From looking at the restaurant from the outside you would never think the food is as good as it is. I worked in a «fancy» chinese restaurant(Mill House Panda) for years and am very picky about chinese food. This place is excellent. Food is fresh, always uses white-meat chicken and the wonton soup broth is actual broth-nothing out of a can. Would definitely recommend the wonton soup, steamed vegetable dumplings and garlic chicken. The restaurant itself is also a nice place to go out to eat, a comfortable atmosphere and complimentary tea and fried noodles. Also try the lychee martini with a frozen lychee nut! I would stay away from the sushi though…

Wow, surprisingly good. Chinese, Thai, Malaysian & Sushi, quite a combo and an easy way to satiate your far Eastern palate. Chicken Pad Thai — very clean, light & tasty. Moo Shu Chix — Fantastic! Sushi — on the very small piece size but good Service was speedy, attentive & friendly Overall nice experience if only they’d do a little remodeling, décor is definitely the downer here.

This has to be the best kept secret in Kingston. First, the sign on the restaurant reads KINGs WOK, even though the place is actually Kingston Wok. The easy way to find it is just to look for the Burlington Coat Factory and Staples mall. Yes it is amazing food tucked into a strip mall. It is nominally Chinese, but the cook offers lots of Pan Asian treats. There is also a full sushi bar. The food is excellent, fresh ingredients, and perhaps the best fried pork dumplings ever. The service is polite and efficient, the ambiance is great, not fancy … its a Chinese restaurant! Lunch specials for $ 6.50 — less than a lousy burger at all of the nearby junk chains. 6 fresh home made gyoza, five bucks. If you are anywhere near those shopping malls, try this place. Always daily specials, always fresh and tasty.

Kingston Wok is the muthafukkkkking BOMB!!! The food has always been on point. The restaurant is very clean. The owner is so friendly and she always remembers the regulars. Let me spill the history lesson over here… Several years ago, this place was a mere OK. Typical Chinese food and nothing really exotic. THEN… POW, KOW, PLA-KOW!!! New management and they revamped the menu. They added sushi and various Japanese dishes as well. The sushi is REALLY good. They have the infamous«Chinatown Noodle Soup.» Thin rice noodles in a huge bowl, steaming with dumplings, won-tons, veggies, beef, pork, or whatever the choices are while swimming the best broth I’ve ever had outside of Chinatown. If you know me, you know I 100% ADORE the Canal Street scene. I would move to Chinatown today if it wouldn’t destroy my marriage. Anyway…the broth is insane. I want to steal the recipe and sell it to rehabs to get the druggies off their shit and jump on to my shit. Not only is the Chinese & Sushi off the map good, they now have a third menu with South East Asia Cuisine. They got the Tom Yung soup, the Thai Iced Tea, The Mee Goreng, The RED&GREENCURRIES… This new format is good and the new extended menu is very, very delightful. They had me at the noodle soup 4 years ago…
