Great little venue /bar. Real intimate. I stood to the right of the stage and was practically on the stage. Since it was an acoustic show the speakers and sound could be heard perfectly. Might not be the best for an electric show but great photos. Didn’t but any drinks so i couldn’t tell if it was pricey or not. You can re enter with your bracelet. Friendly staff

I may have missed some trend by not clubbing out a lot in recent years, but there is something distinctly, uniquely weird about BSP in my now nearly four-decades-long experience with rock venues: Everyone who works here is extremely nice and courteous. Don’t get me wrong, it is fantastic. I just got so used to being treated like dirt at small clubs over the years. Being denied entry into CBGB even with my name on the band list because the bouncer felt like it. Having bartenders act like they’re doing you a favor to get you an overpriced Budweiser. Being smashed back into the mosh pit with a microphone stand. Venues reveling in filth. I mean, it was part of the experience. But at BSP, *everybody is really nice*. The bartenders were attentive and friendly. The door guy was nice and conversational. The coat check person was prompt and attentive. The management kindly ushered people through thin spaces and *apologized* for the unadvanced state of the restrooms(which was still a lot better than most clubs I’ve been to over the years). Is it Kingston? Is it the times have changed? Is it just the owners here? Am I now in a parallel universe? Who can tell? In any event, almost the nicest club experience I’ve ever had. I didn’t even get assaulted by second hand smoke outside. I could nitpick over a few things, but I won’t even mention them. Not germaine. You guys are rock stars.

Best night spot in Kingston. Terrific acts every week and the occasional different gig: case in point — the Kingston Film Festival takes place here. In its second year, the festival showcased some fabulous films, Q&A’s and performances. One of BSP’s managers is a co-founder of the festival. See further info: There’s always something happening here. See their FB page or website for up to date events.

Simply the best live venue around with the best staff and the best music lineup. With the introduction of Backstage Productions to uptown Kingston the local music scene has blossomed and now has a more eclectic and diverse makeup than ever before. Top notch sound, great drinks and an excellent vibe combine to make this a destination worth the trip wherever you’re coming from!

Great small venue in a very cool neighboorhood… they call it ‘The Lounge’ and it definitely has that vibe, dim lighting, comfortable seats, art on the walls… but the real win here are the shows… they are THE go-to spot for the best bands in the area(whether you’ve heard of the bands or not) and they have by-far the best sound(speakers, soundguy) in the area. Whether its and indie rock band, jazz, singersongwriter, or a freakin’ string quartet(and they’ve had em all) its going to sound great in there.
