Like with any thrift store, it’s hit and miss. And literally mess — if you come early before crowds have rampaged through a thrift store, lucky you, but the staff here usually does a pretty good job of keeping things organized.
I was looking for things to keep my niece entertained while she was in town visiting, so I found some inexpensive items to play with on the beach and at home, arts and crafts stuff, games, toys, etc. Such a great idea to reuse and recycle items instead of paying full price at Target or whatever.
Whatever she is done with after her visit, I’ll donate right back here or another thrift store.

usually a nice place but today i saw the manager yell at a customer for wanting to see something behind the counter. She complained that she was working all alone. I usually enjoy the staff here but after seeing her go off on a customer and the other worker look scared, decided that better spend my money elsewhere. That is too bad, it seems she forgot to be professional even if she is overworked. never coming here again.

I usually look for thrift stores wherever I travel, but I wasn’t expecting to find any thrift stores up at fancy-​schmancy Tahoe. Wrong! Tahoe Forest Hospice Gift and Thrift, in Kings Beach, is a decent-​sized thrift located on the main drag. It’s the sister store to the one in Truckee, which is much larger.
The store occupies several smallish rooms, so you kind of have to work your way around the perimeter to make sure you don’t miss anything. As you come in, you’ll see signs displaying the current sales and colored tag discounts. Shoes are in the front, men’s and women’s clothing and accessories takes up the center, kid stuff is toward the far wall, and jewelry cases are up by the register near the door. The back room is for housewares, crafts, and random stuff.
Considering how much stuff is crammed into the Truckee store, this one feels understocked and a bit sparse. You’d think the affluent folk of Tahoe would have lots of nice things to donate, but maybe not. I wasn’t terribly impressed with the clothing or accessories I saw, but the housewares and dishes are quite cheap, and coats seemed to be reasonably priced.
This isn’t a consignment store, nor is it full of designer labels and high-​end castoffs of the rich. It’s just a regular medium-​small thrift store that happens to be up at Tahoe. Overall, a fine store and worth a stop, although I didn’t find anything that I wanted to buy.

I stopped in here walking thru Kings Beach, and was surprised to end up with a basket full of some pretty nice «business casual» stuff for a great price! Unexpected! I only omitted a star because some items were inexplicably pricey for a thrift store, (ie jeans 16 – 20 $). The staff is 5 stars all the way!

I got a GREAT winter coat (tweed) for just $ 7! We also found some fun household items to bring back from our visit to Lake Tahoe. Didn’t expect such a cool and inexpensive thrift shop in Tahoe. Nice stuff and for a good cause.
