The Great Woof Lodge and Doggie Day Camp

Here is an addendum to my earlier review.
My dog has successfully recovered from her conjunctivitis, kennel cough, & eye injury that was a result of the negligent treatment that occurred during her stay.
I find it very interesting that a brand new Unilocaler with only 1 review has posted as a counter to the other not so positive reviews.
Board your dog there at your own risk. We are not cranky uptight owners, we love our pets and are only posting to showcase the limitations and OUR experiences of this establishment.

I feel absolutely horrible writing a bad review for a business when they have just barely opened, but I do feel a duty to the people of Unilocal to do so. I was supposed to go in today for my dogs to be approved for the dog park for a group that was meeting there. Well, there was a big mix up and apparently one owner told the group leader we could use the park and then failed to communicate that to the other owner.
That’s not my issue. Stuff happens. I get it. My issues are these:
A) The owner saying «well THAT lady is on a roll» after talking to our group leader on the phone; apparently she didn’t like what the leader had to say and she forgot I was in the building. And then later also stating that you «can’t just post something on your Facebook page and think it’s ok to show up», which is absolutely NOT what happened. What happened is that one owner didn’t bother to talk to the other or for the two of them to agree on what’s appropriate and what’s not for their business and for GROUPS wanting to use their facilities. I so didn’t appreciate the judgment or nonprofessional demeanor.
B) I wasn’t exactly welcomed or treated like a potential customer by the owner and the other woman in the office. When I entered, I was hollered at from the office area and asked «can I help you»; no one approached me or came from behind the counter. Instead, they talked around another customer who was standing at the counter. Then they acted like they thought I was trying to get over on them by being there. Once they figured out that the other owner had probably agreed to having us there as a group, they proceeded to have a discussion about how «he’ll agree to anything» and no one bothered to tell them what was going on, etc. etc. Meanwhile, I’m feeling more and more uncomfortable by the minute.
C) After going into this long monologue about how she needed to know who was in her facility and not everyone can just come in… blah, blah, blah, the owner doesn’t even offer to have me come back with the dogs’ shot records and become one of the «legitimate» clients so I can use the dog park at a later date even though that’s what I was obviously there for. There was never a point in time that they tried to make it work, she just kept saying, «the park is only for our clients». They have another group that goes there but it’s Great Danes and apparently, that’s the only group that’s allowed to use the dog park out back-​paid or not.
D) When we were given a tour by the dog trainer, the resident dog was absolutely out of control-​jumping up on the half wall (actually jumping over it at one point), barking, trying to get at my dogs. She was a very large, very scary dog and honestly, if we were at a PUBLIC park, I’d keep my dogs away from her. Even though the dog trainer insisted she is all bark and no bite, explain to me why you run a dog boarding and training facility and your own dog is out of control.
E) There were probably 10 dogs total in the two separate play areas of daycare and NO HUMANS supervising them. Personally, I don’t want my dog coming home missing an ear and no one knows how it happened. There should NEVER be a time when the dogs are unsupervised. That the point of the being in DAYCARE! If I wanted them in a fenced-​in area with other dogs and left to their own devices, my neighbors and I can figure out how to do that on our own.
I truly wish you the best, Great Woof, but you have got to run your business like a business, NOT a place to hang out and operate just because you like dogs. Your business sense has to be equal to or greater than your love of dogs for you to succeed. I was standing right there and at no time did you try to turn me into a customer or make me feel like I belonged there. I had to ASK for information on your other services. Bad move.
