My husband wound up spending a lot of time this summer at the bar. :) Mainly because I had a back injury, and I could stand at the bar instead of trying to sit when we wanted to go out to eat. However, the bar staff, the regular wait staff and the hostess all know us now. I’m just sad that they close in the off season. So, the food! I am a sucker for the Cabarete Shrimp if I get there for dinner… the garlic cream sauce is the best on the beach. I like their steam plates as well – I get shrimp, crab and veggies usually. Tasty! I have also gotten their salad with grilled shrimp added – it’s blackened and not overly charred. The hubs usually gets Pete’s Pick for the alcohol part of the equation, and either the Kingston or the tuna sandwich with jerk paste. The quality of the food is consistent, and the staff is happy to refill glasses with tasty beverages whenever we need. Please consider being open in the off season – I know two locals who would love it. :)

We stopped in late on a Friday night for dinner and a glass of wine. The building is fairly small and has a cheesy-type nautical theme. The service was quick and the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The appetizer we wanted wasn’t on the menu but they made it for us anyway. I’ve never seen that before… There were very few options for Cabernet which is what we really wanted. We chose the best we could find and it was just ok. The price was a little steep for the vineyard. The main course came with grilled chicken, shrimp, and mahi mahi. The sides were steamed mixed vegetables and smashed potatoes. Everything was good except the veggies. Bland and cold. I will give them props for the grilled mahi and shrimp. They were extremely good! I think I would go back for an appetizer and a beer but nothing else. Overall, it wasn’t bad and I would consider going back.

We have gone here several times and it has never disappointed us! Good food(I had rockfish that was divine and my husband had the steamer combo, which he devoured) and good atmosphere. Several large parties(15+) showed up while we were there and the place could accommodate them. Very pleased and would recommend for good seafood.

This was the only place I could find open on a Monday night in late October. But, I am glad the other restaurants were closed, because I might not have found this place. I had a great salad — mixed greens with jerked shrimp. They didn’t scrimp on ingredients — two skewers of huge perfectly spiced shrimp and lots of interesting greens(no ice berg lettuce here). The service was quick, efficient, and pleasant. My only complaint? I don’t think any place should charge 2 dollars for club soda.

Fries are the best on the beach… double-fried I’m guessing. The wahoo tacos I just had were outstanding. My wife had a cheeseburger, and it was large and juicy and seasoned just right. Highly recommended.

Reasonably priced. The shrimp and gris are wonderful and was big enough that my wife and me shared.

We came for Sunday lunch. They have a great brunch menu. Had the shrimp and grits. They were AWESOME! So tasty, large portions(hubby and I shared).

First, I have to say I normally hate seafood. I am so glad my husband dragged me to this restaurant. The food was excellent. We went there for dinner with our 6 and 1 ½ year old girls. The décor was great, plenty to distract the girls. The service was timely and attentive. But the food was amazing! I was only going to take a token bite of the crab dip, and ended up eating half and wishing for more. I had the steak with shrimp on the side, and found I wished I had shrimp with steak on the side. I also stole a bit of my husbands tuna and found it delicious. The sides were great as well. My picky 6-year-old even ate all her popcorn shrimp. The price was well worth paying. We had two adult meals, two kids meals, two sodas, an appetizer and two desserts for $ 100.

Goombays is the perfect stop for beach day cocktails & lunch! My bridesmaids & I on a recent bachelorette trip took full advantage of Goombays being walking distance from out cottage & right across from the beach access. Our group came in about 4 or 5 times in a 3 day span! The first day we stopped in for drinks after leaving the beach & ordered a few of their signature cocktails. They all came with either a souvenir figure floating around or a cup to keep. How fun! The next day we came in for lunch after leaving the beach. I ordered the shrimp po’boy wrap which was on of the specials of the day. It hit the spot. One friend ordered their jalapeño burger & loved it. My other two friends ordered the appetizer sampler. A bit too greasy for a meal, but okay to share they said. They all raved about the fries. Our last day in we came in for drinks twice. We also ordered the crab dip which was phenomenal. I love a good beach bar. Goombays, you did us well!

Goombays is a super neat bar with a really great bartender. Stopped in at 11PM on a Tuesday night so the crowd was thin(locals only — good sign!) but I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place itself. Goombay smash was tasty, good array of draft beers, awesome drink specials, and the steamed shrimp were perfect — they even offer you a bowl of lukewarm water with lemon slices to clean your hands, why don’t all seafood restaurants do this??? The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because I didn’t try any of their unique dishes(steamed shrimp, available anywhere, can’t count) and it doesn’t seem fair to rate a restaurant 5⁄5 sans a true menu experience. I will say, however, I can’t wait to come back to try some of their dishes — they all looked great. If you are younger/traveling without kids and/or looking for a friendly, entertaining watering hole, this is a gem of a local bar… check it out!

Basic restaurant… seafood, fried, grilled, steamed, cream… nothing special. I was told that the shrimp cabirete was the absolute best thing to get, hands down, and it was literally a bowl of Parmesan-heavy cream soup with 6 shrimps. If you have kids and are looking for a place that pleases everyone, this will work; however, if you’re a foodie that’s used to a more upscale culinary experience, try somewhere else.

Fun atmosphere, very kid friendly as others said. Great service, got seated right away & food/drinks were brought in a timely manner. Ordered Seafood Kingston which is fish of the day cooked with crème de coconut & banana and let me tell you it was delicious!!! If you like these flavors and sweetness then do not hesitate on ordering this. Fish was cooked perfectly and the side of rice, beans & veggies was also very nicely done. A very large, filling dish! Didn’t indulge in desserts, but they sounded fabulous. Place does seem to get large parties & fill up as it gets later, so get there early! There is also a bar if you’re just looking to have a drink

Driving up Route 12, we were looking for a family friend place with local flavor. A quick google search turned up Goombay’s right off the ocean. Went in not knowing what to expect. I was delighted. family owned and operated, it is a cozy little place with a Caribbean menu. I had Gator tail as an appetizer(tastes like chicken.) Service was excellent, very kid friendly and it seems to be a well kept secret among those in the know. After we sat down, 3 large parties showed– a party of 18, a party of 9 and a party of 11. They do not take reservations, so first come, first served. We arrived around 5 and sat down right away. definitely will return.

Fabulous food. You’ll want to start out with a Goombay Smash. A very well made traditional island drink with rum, coconut, and juices. I had the swordfish that was to die for; could have been a little bit larger portion, but the sauce was out of this world. That is the only reason for 4 stars and not 5. Calamari was perfectly cooked.

Cute atmosphere with an awesome staff. Food was great starting w the garden salad. I had crab legs and steamed clams. Crabs were fresh and good size and clams as well. I was offered the house hot sauce which was on point! Kids loved the grilled cheese and wife enjoyed her fish n chips. My friend had the mahi sandwich and she was blown away with how flavorful it was. They have fun drinks for the kids which they enjoyed.

Oiy, not so good. Nice staff and the side salad was good-nice lettuce mix and fresh cut veggies. But our entrees were very salty, not great presentation, and over priced for what we had. Not great…

Would be three stars if solely based on food. Portions were good size and prices were good. It is hard to hear or have a conversation below a scream in the main dining room. Definitely not a relaxing place. What knocked our meal down to a two star review was our waitress. We actually had better, friendlier service from the surrounding wait staff and owners. We were a small party and hopefully our waitress was just having a bad night. Probably wouldn’t come back again, just because we had equivalent or better meals with better service everywhere else.

We found this place on accident but it was the best place we have been to all week. The food was great and so was our bubbly waitress. The service was fast and the prices where more then reasonable. Would definitely go back and recommend to everyone.

Started with chips & salsa. Salsa was homemade and so yummy! Jazzy chicken was amazing– crunchy coconut coating. Veggies were a little dry but that’s my only minor disappointment. Husband got Kingston Mahi Mahi. He said«it’s amazing, melt in your mouth». Drank Goombay’s Smash– great drink and you get to keep the cute cup! We will definitely return!
