Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kilgore North

This is a nice hotel with rather limited parking out front. There is parking in the rear, but the only alternate entrance is on the side, therefore less than ideal.
The complimentary breakfast is pretty good.
I had two problems, one minor and one not so minor. Minor problem… the toilet seat does not stay up on its own and can come crashing down if you go standing.
The second problem is that the third floor hallway smells of cigarette smoke. Not enough to suggest that anyone was smoking in the hall, but enough to make walking too get ice a less than pleasant experience.
I think that the problem is that smoking and non-​smoking rooms are mixed on the floor, meaning that the room next to you may have a smoker in it.
It also means that the hotel is not doing enough to eliminate the smell.

Although the staff was extremely nice, this Holiday Inn has a «no pet policy». (I have a small well behaved pug). They were very kind and let me know that each Holiday Inn had different rules regarding pets. I explained that I had stayed in several Holiday Inns and each one accepted pets. So make sure you check ahead for pet policies.
