Cancun Dave’s

This restaurant had quick service, and always has pleasant staff. They have very reasonable prices, and that is one of the main reasons it is a place for everyone to go to.

Had spinach enchiladas. Bland, no seasoning. Rice/​beans boring. Service was good but food less than wonderful

The service is poor, and the food is below average. I don’t recommend this restaurant. There are better Kilgore options.

After being greeted with a warm welcome by Kilgore’s finest, we were offered a seat «anywhere we liked». Being my second visit to Cancun Dave’s, I spoke highly of the Chimichanga, and warned my fellow diners against the small proportions of the quesidilla, and the greasy cheesy-​ness of the Fajita Flamiada. Two of our party made the bold decision to adventure into uncharted waters with a platter of Tamales, and the other Cheese Enchiladas with queso sauce. I opted for the Fajita Chimichanga on this visit over regular chicken which I had on my previous visit. The remaining two members of our party opted for beef, and chicken Chimichangas.
I’m pleased to report that all of our meals on this trip were satisfactory. We even ordered the decidedly non-​descript «Cancun Dessert», which we were surprised to learn can be had as either of two options. Option one being a sopapilla served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, option two being a fried tortilla dusted with cinnamon and sugar also served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We decided to sample one of each. Once again, both options were reasonably enjoyable.
Uppon announcing that one of our group was celebrating a birthday our waitress offered to rally the staff to sing Happy Birthday only to return and let us know that «they didn’t really do that». To her credit, she did mention that she had only worked there 3 weeks thus far.
I’m also pleased to announce that a day later no mention of intestinal distress has been given by any of the diners, same for our previous visit. So, if you are a little wary about visiting Cancun Dave’s, fret not. The locals are generally hospitable, and the food palatable.
Bonus: After reviewing our tickets we realized the Landshark Lager on draught was only $ 2, hooray beer!

Close to KHS, this is a favorite lunch spot. We get several orders of Loco nachos to share. The loco salad is also very good. Comes with chips and salsa even when we get it to go. They know us by our order and offer to put toppings on the side so our chips won’t get soggy. Good service.

Stopped for lunch with my bride today before heading out for Houston. Service is good but it was after the lunch hour but from what I’ve heard, it’s still good even with the crowd. Glass is always filled and the food was out quick. The quality of the food? Eh. … I won’t get the nacho’s again. I’ll try something else next time and there will be a next time.

Cocaine Dave’s has always been a Kilgore favorite, mostly for the enchilada special. Unless it was special day, I would never eat here, mostly because it was exceptionally dirty and the service was very mediocre. In high school, I only ate here because several of my friends were hosts at the entrance. I have not been to the new location (an old pawn shop) since the old one burned down, but I have heard that all of the menu prices increased. Now that I am out of Kilgore, I hope that I will never have the pleasure of eating here ever again.

The original location burned about a year ago and they have rebuilt across the parking lot. The new location is roomy, clean, and upscale with a western theme. Food is above average TexMex with really good chips & salsa, fajitas, and standard TexMex fare such as tacos, enchiladas, guacamole and chalupas. Great Wednesday enchilada special. Unlike other Mexican restaurants in Kilgire, this one doesn’t use the preservative treated lettuce. Everything is fresh and tasty.
