Stein Mart

Rhonda helped me after we could not locate chairs I wanted in store and now they will be delivered to my house by end of week. Much appreciated!!!

Love Stein Mart and shop there often. I only have one complaint and that is of a cashier who always makes you feel as if your bothering her when you ask if an item came up on sale or when you try to use their coupons. She is very quick to say. «oh that coupon does not apply to anything you have» and when I point out that you have a sale item, and it say’s 50% off any sale item, she finally uses it. She always manages to ruin my experience at the end. Today, black Friday, I was never asked if I needed a gift receipt? I was too afraid to even ask her today.

The lady by the dressing room area had a surprisingly abrasive and even hostile personality, which made for a thoroughly unpleasant shopping experience. Both my wife and I concurred that her «retail manner» was completely lacking. She did customer service like it was the DMV.

I really like this store, they have a mix of clothes at a decent price and I could always find something there I want, my problem isn’t with the clothing its with the workers. One in particular, a tall older women thin with short hair who thinks shes better than everybody else. Every time she takes care of me, no smile, seems bothered when you ask a question and is not very friendly at all. If she doesn’t want to work with people she should find a different job. So I would recommend shopping there just avoid her.

I love this place. They typically have some great petite clothes, along with designer jeans in short sizes.
Their shoe section is pretty decent as well. Aside from that they have other random items that you will need once you see them. I got a great dog bed here that has held up well. There are some dishes and kitchen tools that are a great price and trendy. Accessories are also something to look for. They have a great collection of jewelry, hats, scarves, etc.

Yes, they have nice prices and all but the people in here are just so creepy. I’m sorry but I don’t have time to deal with stay at home moms eying and mentally judging me. But, I got some nice cozy socks here so that bumps it up a star.

I’ll admit it, the commercials sucked me in, and when I walked in, I was really pleased.
The Misses clothes were hip, young, fresh — not the same stuff you find in the department stores. The prices weren’t great, but weren’t crazy either.
However, once I walked to the Women’s department — I border on sizing — I was very disappointed. The clothes there were OLD and CHEAP and not fun at all. It was like the buyer for Alfred Dunner set up shop.
It’s not worth it to drive out of my way to find that the cute clothes are just out of my size range.

Stein Marts can be found all over the country, there are 11 in Illinois, but they are quite prevalent in the southern US. Stopped in to this location expecting another TJ Maxx type mess of racks of random merchandise on the cheap. Not even close! Stein Mart IS a discounter, but the set-​up of the store is better and the quality of the merchandise is much higher.
It is set up more like a department store with racks of like merchandise (same designer, same style, same collection) and they have separate sections for career, casual, petite, and womens (plus size). They also offer mens clothes, luggage, jewelry, some home goods, a large section of lingerie and shoes. There is also an area called «Boutique» which had nice dresses, separates, and evening wear. It was a small section, but had some nice stuff.
The place is well stocked, the sizes are organized, and although there is LOTS to see, it is easy to move around. There are some clothes here that seem «cheap», but overall you will find good quality clothes for very reasonable prices. They have these weird shopping carts meant for a child to ride in with very little room for merchandise, just my peeve. And the shoes prices were lower at DSW in the same mall for the same styles. If you are in the neighborhood (or any of the 10 other Illinois Stein Marts) it is worth stopping in.
