We ate blue marlin and ahi tuna with salt and pepper on the grill. Also had shrimp skewers and filet skewers… all absolutely delicious! A great find! We’ll be going back before this trip is over!

Had lunch here. Not much of a wait to order, and the food came out pretty quickly. Had some very tasty poke salad while waiting for our fish tacos. Each taco had a really nice chunk of grilled mahi in it, but there wasn’t a lot to savor beyond that. The fish was centered in an unheated, uncrisped flour tortilla, and the slaw with it was minimal. There was an interesting sauce, but no heat, none of the flavor I think most people expect in a taco. And it’s expensive. I probably wouldn’t go back.

Food was okay. My Wife had the vegetarian plate and I has the Korean bbq chicken plate(chicken, rice, macaroni-potato salad). It wasn’t bad but also didn’t blow my mind. The problem we had, unfortunately, was the hour long wait from the time we ordered until they called our order. I understand they were busy, but frankly, an operation like this should be able to churn out simple orders like this in half the time.

We were second in line to order food when we got there and only a couple of their outdoor tables were occupied. The place has a steady flow of customers but was by no means busy. It was a long wait for food and it didn’t help that others that ordered after us(similar items) got their orders ahead of us. It was a bit sad that we got our food shortly before the other people that ordered after us had finished their food and started to leave. I ordered the Ahi wrap with was on expensive side but it tasted okay. It needed more fish and less fillers. There is no restroom and staff directed us to a offsite facility that we were never able to find. Maybe we just didn’t walk far enough. We didn’t have any problems with the wild chickens when we were there, but there were tons of flies hovering over the tables and our food.

We were the only customers at 6pm on a Tuesday. But our food took 40 minutes to come out… people had come after us but their orders were ready before ours. Also, my husband ordered a green salad as his side dish, but received macaroni salad instead. When the server passed it to him, she argued that he had ordered it. Not a big deal, but he hates mac salad and definitely didn’t order it. The pork and fish of the day plates were both good. The fish tacos were ok, but they were packed with tons of shredded cheese which overpowered the seared ahi. The garlic sauce was awesome though. One final note — the restroom was quite a hike from the restaurant. Like 5 min walk. Plan accordingly!

Delicious ahi plate: simply and perfectly prepared, with nice touches like a green salad and wasabi sauce on the side. Recommended by a local friend as a «don’t miss» and we weren’t disappointed. Pricey but no moreso than anywhere else on Kauai.

I love this place. Super good food. Casual outdoor patio. I will eat here every time I visit.

This place was EVERYTHING after we finished hiking to Hanakapiai Falls and back. We were starving and used Unilocal to find a spot with poke on our way back to Poipu. Generous helpings, pretty inexpensive, casual atmosphere and lots of healthy options. This place is a winner. I wish I would have stumbled upon it earlier in our trip.

Cute little place! Outdoor seating, some covered and some not. There’s not much room to stand inside when it’s busy. We shared an Ahi Wrap and the Grilled Fish Tacos. Both were delicious, but if you can only have one, I’d recommend the Ahi Wrap. Giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because it took longer than we expected for our food to come out.

A friend back home who had lived in Kauai told me that Kilauea Fish Market is on the must visit list. I have to agree that the food was really good and this was probably the best fish we had on the trip. I got the ahi wrap and also got to taste the fish tacos and teriyaki chicken. The teriyaki chicken was really good. The fish was clearly very fresh and delicious. I wish they had highlighted the fish more, I thought there were too many other ingredients in the tacos and wrap and they almost overwhelmed the fish. I also wish they would do something about the bugs outside if they could. We ended up junking several items since the bugs got into the food which was a shame. The ladies who work here were nice and friendly.

An okay place for fresh fish and rice. Expected the ahi($ 19) & mahi mahi($ 18) to be more moist and flavorful, but it was a somewhat dry. They ran out of the Korean bbq pork, which sounded pretty yummy. Probably not the best value restaurant, but food is fresh and healthy.

On the way back to our hotel, we decided to check this place out. It’s a pretty simple place, you pick and choose, they grill it fresh, and you can get it to go, or eat it outside(there’s a sitting area). Here’s what we ordered: 1. Ahi plate, medium rare, brown rice and salad. The ahi was covered in radish sauce and light teriyaki. It was tangy and flavorful, not too sweet. 2. Sesame poke, $ 24.99/lbs. Very fresh, didn’t taste fishy at all. The poke was very buttery soft and delicious. 3. Ocean salad: your typical seaweed salad. Overall, it’s not the cheapest stop, but it was good eatin’

Review is for outdoor dining facilities only. Food was pretty good but was overshadowed by the Kauai Chicken experience. We ordered, paid and waited for our food to be ready. Got our food, sat at a table to the far left of the store entrance. About halfway through our meal a chicken hopped up on to our table!(Mind you, there were others dining as well) My auntie reacted in a frightened manner which only made the chicken hype up and step all over her half eaten salad. I noticed one of the employees had come outside and glanced our direction before turning the opposite way. We walked away from this place with disappointment. I don’t want all of you to experience the same thing so when you eat here make sure to guard your food, the chickens are hungry and aggressive!

Cons: –IMO the vaunted ahi wrap and tacos are mostly filler and sauce. Fish is ono though –expensive but… fresh fish that’s not previously frozen apparently costs almost 2x as much as the previously frozen stuff. –ahi poke may have some of the best fish but maybe not my absolute favorite in terms of seasoning. .still good however Pros: –fresh fish! When I was there they had 3 different choices for the day. –I enjoyed the fish plate more than the wraps and tacos 1⁄3 pound of fish is what I was told. Had mine seared, no complaints.

Had the ahi plate with potato macaroni salad and brown rice. The ahi was fresh, well seasoned, cooked exactly as ordered. The sauces they add were tasty, but I would have asked for them to use a lighter hand. The potato/macaroni was very good, and my lunch buddies kept picking at mine because they ordered it with a salad. The plate seemed the best value because the ahi was a generous steak size. It also included two generous scoops of rice and the potato salad. Very yummy and more than enough. On a previous trip we bought both their to go poke and some sushi grade ahi steaks. Those were delish!!!

Being born and raised on Kauai, when u see a sign that says fish market you expect to see fish prepared differently or a wide array of it. Not here. They also do not serve a common hawaiian plate(laulau/Kailua pig). They also serve white rice but should describe it as basmati rice. It changes the flavor of an authentic local experience. We ordered a chicken plate as well as a fish plate and it was $ 35! Over priced. I swear my chicken was the May’s brand u find frozen at costco or walmart. The only thing great was the service.

I am torn between giving them a 2 or 3 star. If I could I would give them a 2.5 star. I was pretty excited to stop here since I loved the fish tacos at the Kapaa location. When i ordered I found out that this location did not offer the fried fish tacos because they didn’t have a fryer. I ordered the grilled fish tacos instead… No big deal I thought. Boy was I wrong! It didn’t seem like the fish was grilled, more like sautéed. The problem that I had with my plate is that everything was soggy, the tortillas(flour) fell apart and the meal was messy and wet. Maybe I had a bout of bad meal luck but either way I won’t return to this location.

We had a delicious(though pricey) lunch here today! My husband and I shared the ahi wrap(very flavorful) and an order of the fish tacos(two grilled fish tacos with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and a garlic sauce). It was quite a bit of food, and I think we could have shared one entrée rather than ordering one for each of us. It’s a small place where you order and pick up inside, and there are outside seats available. The woman who took our order was very friendly and helpful. She even gave us free lychees that had recently been picked from a nearby tree! We paid $ 30 for our takeout lunch, which wasn’t cheap, but it IS Hawaii and we did have great fresh fish, so we can’t really complain.

Damn near five-star. Fish dressed(gutted) from whole in-house. Fresh as can be. And you can taste every bit of that freshness. My Ono plate was awesome. Super delicate yet firm(how is that even possible) fish. Sesame soy mayo sauce. Rice. Mmmmm… You can eat outside under the huge butter-avocado tree, or take it to the beach. You can’t lose.
