The Love Shack Maui

Well, let me first start this review by saying… I live on Oahu, so I have experienced the awakening and promotion of vitality that Sensually Yours has to offer… so when I came to Maui I said «I wonder, the only adult store on Maui, the love shack… I should check it out.»
I assume all of the 5 star reviews are from people who either 1. Had a great experience (which is well deserving) or 2. Has never been to another adult store (in which case, your review would quickly change)
The store is quite literally ‘a shack’…very small. Almost uncomfortably small if more than 4 people are shopping.
The selection is lacking in all categories: lingerie, toys and lube. But my opinion could be biased… again. the store I’m used to is expansive and has a huge selection of items.
The sales person was unsure of whether something was rechargeable or not. Mind you, I already knew it was rechargeable… but when I asked to see it, she said (without me even making mention to it) that it was battery operated. Which left me a little uneasy in asking anything else being that her first bit of communication with me, was false.
The picture in the front window advertised a clothing line that they didn’t even carry.
Their prices… a little high (for the lower quality stuff). I was thrilled to see that the high quality we-​vibe products were at MSRP and they didn’t inflate those prices.
The location is very high profile. Right smack dab in the triangle in Kihei. It backs the Kalama village and fronts several eateries and bars. In fact, it’s a great location.
Parking is decent. I found a stall out front. If there’s no parking out front, you can park on the side at Kalama village. It’s a short walk through the vendors.
Getting to the point, being Maui’s only adult store, I see the hype… but from this Unilocaler’s experience, this store was really nothing special at all. Just a cute name.

Oh my goodness, this is by far the best experience I’ve ever had in retail. No joke.
This is actually the very first adult store I’ve ever walked-​in, and I have to say that Lyla (the shop keeper) made my experience comfortable and well-​informed. She definitely helped me be comfortable with talking about my sex life.
I came in tonight with my boyfriend to buy a vibrator, and Lyla showed me different products of how they worked, and how they could be used in different ways. The selections there are specifically chosen according to what the owners and staff believe are the best products.
I definitely will recommend all my friends (who are sexually adventurous) to visit Lyla at the Love Shack, and to be sure to ask any questions they may have. She is very knowledgeable and made my experience very personable.

All I have to say is: I met Lila. Go there, buy some goodies and meet her.

We saw the sign when buying groceries next door and thought it was a bar, since it is surrounded by them, and the B-52’s song immediately came to mind. I mean, who wouldn’t want to party at «The Love Shack»? We asked our server at Fred’s about it from the night before and he laughed as we were asking him for good bar suggestions, and brought this place up. He told us about the older woman who was the owner and that it is a sex shop. I was immediately captivated. My girlfriend and I made our way over and were warmly welcomed by Lila. She gave us some suggestions, and told us her personal preferences for toys, oils and clothing. Though everything is a little pricey, she makes you feel so comfortable, you can’t help but buy something. Take our advice, buy the $ 20 bottle of stimulating lotion, she’ll have you put it on your tongue… But will tell you where it really belongs. She has a website and used to do sex parties and will be happy to share with you her stories of world sex travel. Love her and this place!

Needed some lube for the night, so I made a stop at this charming place while on vacation. Had a blast looking through all the naughty goodies for sale. Well informed lady assisting all your lube needs, it’s like she had PHD in LUBE.
Now I’m sure I’ll be back to get some new goodies when the mood strikes. After all your on vacation so why not enjoy some sex!

Nice little store in the heart of Kihei. The older lady who runs the store is very charming & helpful.
Selection is good for the size of the store & the atmosphere sets you in the mood as well ;)

There is no way you could not fall in love with this place. It really is the love shack because the lady is the most awesome person in the world. I am not even throwing that phrase around like it’s just something people say. She is how I wish I could be, just so open and loving toward everyone. This isn’t a seedy place by any means, its clean and a good place for couples to go.

Such a wonderful store the owner, Lila, is so wonderfully sweet and helpful. She puts everyone at ease and creates a super fun atmosphere. My husband gets shy in these types of stores and she was able to get him to try a few things, it was super adorable. Thanks Love Shack!

While limited on space, the Love Shack offers a little something for everyone (lube, lingerie, DVDs, vibrators, light fetish gear, etc). The product selection ranges from beginner to intermediate/​advanced, and the lube selection is carefully curated for those with allergies and sensitivities. This is a great place to stop in after a traipse through the «Bar-​muda Triangle» in Kehei. The real reason to visit is for the owner, Lila (she is usually the older woman working). Don’t be shy — approach her! She is a treasure trove of knowledge. Lila is happy to provide recommendations to suit your style and comfort level. She provides a comfortable, safe environment to shop discreetly. Lila is a trailblazer when it comes to adult toys, as she’s been in business way before it was socially acceptable to do so. A respectable pioneer in sexual liberation, and a very kind woman to boot. Spice up your vacation and head on down to the Love Shack, baby!

Let’s just say… I expected Maui to have a couple more «adult» stores, and it was actually a bit difficult to find one at all!
Thank goodness I came across the Love Shack! The owner of this store is FABULOUS! She’s an older woman but has ‘been in the business’ for quite some time. She’s knowledgeable, witty, fun, and energetic. She spent a nice part of our visit chit chatting and EDUCATING us about different… items for sale lol. No for real, all jokes aside… she took the time to give a science behind some of the… ahem, items for sale, and explain why one is better than the other.
The store itself is VERY small. You also walk up on wooden steps that felt like they were going to collapse as you walk up. The ground kinda shifts if there are a lot of people in the store (as it was when we visited) but thankfully it held its ground lol.
Parking is available directly in front (but is shared with other surrounding establishments).
Small selection, but I’m sure you’ll find something that catches your fancy… :)

This shop has to be purposely hidden, so all the couples and pervs won’t be caught walking into a sex store.

It is hidden. If you’re on s kihei road, you have to turn into Keala place. And if you see Foodland on your left, it’ll be the parking area on your right.
Now onto the store…
Fun little shop with an even funner shop owner (lil ol lady.) Such a carefree soul, talking about dildos and lube so casually, you’d think we were talking about cookie recipes! (there are cookies for sale in this shop, fyi.)
Being from Oahu, its not fair to compare the selection, but The Love shack def compensates when it comes to customer service.
They pretty much have your basics (i.e. lube, condoms, outfits, videos.) and some spicy things (i.e. vibes of sorts, bdsm toys, games.)
Interesting place for a change of «scenery.»

This sexy place is an awesome find. Tucked into a shopping center, and this place is a little unexpected. After a few drinkings, it’s just what I was looking for for some vacation fun.
The woman working was a lot of fun. She had lived in Auburn (near Sacramento), so we spent a lot of time chatting with her about local spots and how much things have changed. She also provided local recommendations. She was a spunky, energetic delight and made my friends and I feel incredibly comfortable. I didn’t even blink twice when I was purchasing my… uh…ANYWAY.
The selection is small, as is their space, but with just the three us of in there it wasn’t an issue.
If your in the area, I recommend you stop by for a good time. ;-)

We stopped by on our honeymoon. When I approached the sales lady to ask a question she immediately said «so you want to know where the swinger parties are at?». Not the information I was looking for but HILARIOUS!
Limited selection and the product we purchased, I asked the sales lady about it because it looked like it was too small. She insisted that it stretched. However upon trying to use it we discovered it did not fit. Perhaps not the most helpful saleslady.
But a fun place to go.

This place is awesome. Lila has great advice, and makes you feel totally at home, even if you’re out of your element — there’s no reason to be embarrassed about wanting to have great sex!

We stopped in here while on vacation and met the coolest lady that helped us out even though they had already closed (it was a Sunday night). We picked up some fun stuff and even few tips from the lady on some sweet local spots that we hit up for breakfast and dinner. I’m surprised this place hasn’t had any reviews yet. It was nice to be treated so warmly and she even pointed out a very good dj that was spinning nearby. Great store in a great area of Maui.

Nice little shop. You can take a peek or if your not shy — a stroll… through this little place while you wait for your pizza at the Tiki Lounge!
Super nice owner. She’ll tell you all the good places to eat and the best deals in the area!

It’s just fun to stop in and take a look around. I also picked up some «Pure Instinct Calogne». Very nice. Not too strong… it’s just right!
