I reserved a truck for moving purposes on ⁸⁄₁₈ for a moving day of ⁸⁄₂₉. Initially, I reserved a 15′ truck, but I was called by U-​Haul after making an online reservation and was told the 15′ truck was unavailable, but I could have the 17′ truck for the same price. That’s good customer service.
On ⁸⁄₂₈ at 4:44pm, they close at 5pm, I received a call and was told I could not pick up the truck on ⁸⁄₂₉ at 9:00am as previously scheduled. In fact, I could not have the truck. I was called by a person at Kihei Maui Self Storage, and he said that the 17′ truck I had reserved was not available. I asked where else I could go on such short notice, and he told me another business on the next street, and the only other option he had was a cargo van. I had contracted with movers for 9:00am and told him that this was unacceptable. I told him he should have given me advanced notice. He told me he was giving me advanced notice. When I asked to speak to the supervisor, he said, «Sure, call him.» And then he hung up on me.
I called the one place he recommended to me – that business closed 45 minute before. All of the other businesses I tried to call were closed by the time I was notified by Kihei Maui Self Storage. I will never use their company again because of their poor customer service and unreliable availability.
