If you like coffee, the docs Java was pretty good. Made with real coffee and includes rich caramel and fat chocolate chips. Good! Kids really liked the mint chip as did the adults. Good ice cream lab! Perfect finish after some BBQ sandwiches at wild jacks next door.

This place is a great stop on the long drive between So Cal and No Cal. The ice cream was delicious with the JAVA was the best. My wife and I shared a waffle cone with 3 flavors but we both thought the JAVA was best. The service was quick even though there was a line and it was near closing time. The girls were very friendly and the guy cleaning the counter came by and offered napkins. A great place to relax for a little while.

The chocolate chips in the ice cream were too big for me, but their Mint Chocolate has to be the BEST I’ve ever had and the scoops are huge!

This ice cream parlour has a cute novelty feel, as well as a variety of unique flavors. That said, I really loved the ice cream choice that I got here — the peanut butter cup delight! The chocolate ice cream base was delicious… it was very chocolatey and not over sweet. They also use real peanut butter and peanut butter cups mixed in. If you have any doubts… just get a sample!

If overpriced, average ice cream is what you crave along your drive up to the bay, then please drop some cash here along with that suffering lack of any willpower to not constantly consume ice cream whenever you see it. This place in no way is a reflection of the overall experience at Bravo Farms. Don’t get me wrong; I’m really glad that I decided to take my break there. However, the ice cream is definitely not a necessity. I ordered a Jr. size for the low price of $ 2.99! Oh my, 3 bucks for a tiny scoop of ice cream in a small container. It was fate that decided I would have the strawberry that day – just so I could tell of how mediocre this whole establishment is. I could have spent 3 bucks on better strawberry ice cream from Dreyer’s at my local Ralph’s. That’s my definition of locally grown, straight from the fruit aisles next to the overpriced blueberries that I have no idea who can afford to buy. Maybe the other flavors are much better, but I just feel like you can wait a few hours on the road before buying some decent ice cream where you are headed.

Stopped here while driving back North from Los Angeles. There’s been several people who recommend making the stop. They’re speaking with honesty. The ice cream is pretty good. It’s right off the highway. I recommend it!

Jose was pretty awesome! very patient as my girlfriend and i asked for samples of pretty much all the flavors. we ended up deciding on a merlot raspberry truffle? mmmm… how often do you see that in ice cream? the wine wasn’t overwhelming. it rounded off the ice cream nicely. left a plesent aftertaste of wine on the palete. typically my gf and i hate wine but this was great. The ice cream is a bit on the… more creamy side? It seems to be stored right near its melting point and is kinda gooey and ready to be consumed… not really like gelato but i think that’s the closest thing to compare it to.

So, this ice cream is AMAZING. We stopped by on our way to San Jose, and I am so glad we did! We tried a couple different flavors like a coconut almond chip, and cookies and cream, but landed on birthday cake. It was unbeatable. TRYIT. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is simply because of the lack of customer service. We waited a while before anyone even noticed us, and then employee seemed disinterested and bored. All in all, we will definitely come back because the ice cream is phenomenal. The cinnamon waffle cone was also super good!

This Doc Burnsteins Ice Cream is found at Bravo Farms in Kettleman City, CA. It is a fine place to purchase really good ice cream. Prices are on the high side as expected, but still fair. We each purchased a Junior Size which costed us $ 2.99 each. Based on the quality, I’d do it again! We shared our ice cream. Her Rocky Road was very good, but not any better than Thrifty Ice Cream’s version which is still the best.(4 stars) My Pecan Praline was yummy as well. They are not stingy with the ingredients.(4 stars) They have a few seats and tables available at this little parlor. If it gets crowded, then I suppose you can always find a spot next door where there are tons of seats both on the first floor or the second floor or outside. Now that we’ve tried them, I see ourselves stopping by Doc Burnstein’s everytime we’re at Bravo Farms. Look forward to trying more of their delicious flavors!

Nothing special. It’s like rite aid quality ice cream but tourist prices. I liked the buttered pecan. Tried the motor oil(chocolate with espresso) didn’t care for it. Lots of ppl since it’s on the way to places and things. Part of the bigger plaza bravo farm

I don’t get it. It’s Dreyers-quality ice cream. Why does that earn 4 stars? Maybe because it’s ice cream in a desert that is 100+ degrees 300 days a year. It’s a great bribe for little kids who are being insufferable during a road trip down the 5. But otherwise, the ice cream here is nothing special. The shakes are not very good, either. I doubt I’ll be back.

Ice cream at this Kettleman City stop was the best idea ever! We always use this exit as our fuel stop whenever doing the NorCal-SoCal drives. Definitely go with the Motor Oil. The Merlot Raspberry Truffle has a lovely subtle wine flavor, and is recommended for anybody who doesn’t want a particularly sweet or decadent flavor. And just do yourself a favor and pay the extra dollar for the waffle cone!

I was never a big fan of Doc Burnstein’s in SLO but the shop in Kettleman City is a lot better. It is located in the new Bravo Farms shopping center and though it lacks all the bells and whistles of the other Doc Burnstein’s locations, I like it more because it is simple and straightforward. There are some seats but it basically is just a small kitchen where they have a good selection of flavors. Plus, the people working there are tremendously kind and gave us several samples as well as scooping heaping scoops of ice cream. The Bananas Foster was a great flavor. I remember at the original SLO location I thought the ice cream was not creamy enough but at Kettleman City it was slightly creamier and not melty or icy. Overall it is a little pricey, my double waffle cone came out to about $ 7 but it hits the spot and you can simultaneously shop around and of course use their nice clean bathrooms before you get back on the road.

I love ice cream. I also love bananas, so banana ice cream is pretty much always my go to order when it’s an option. At the ice cream lab, I got bananas foster — banana ice cream with caramel and pie crust pieces. It was pretty solid. The banana flavor was great and there was a good amount of caramel in the ice cream. I definitely would’ve liked more pie crust pieces, but that’s just me. I would definitely come back to try some other flavors!

I loved the Bananas Foster ice cream! I always find it fun to find unique flavors to try out. I paid about $ 3 for a Jr. Scoop on a cone and it hit the spot. Monica, the cashier and super scooper listed on my receipt was nice. I’d recommend coming here for a break on a road trip between San Francisco and Los Angeles. There’s public restrooms at the Bravo Farms area where Doc Burnstein’s Ice Cream is a part of and located in too.

I have a serious thing for banana ice cream and chocolate. Of course one scoop of each layered on top of each other. NOTMIXED! Cause I like to scoop a little bit of banana and Lil bit of chocolate onto my spoon and let the flavors blend in my mouth. Mmmm sweet cold yummy goodness melting in my mouth. Huhhhhh. Yummerz! So tasty you’ll make up delicious words… hahhaha. «tasteilicious» There was just something in particular about this ice cream lab. They have figured out a secret Ingredient for the best ice cream in the world. Oh its all Doc Burnsteins fault! No… no relation to Bernstein bears! There’s a hidden crunch of goodness in the creamy ice cream. It’s one of a kind. My words will do no justice but if your driving on the 5 freeway don’t forget to stop here. –Unique flavors –Not 2 sweet –Very creamy –Must try –Cinnamon waffle cone -$$

Fast friendly service. I recommend the merlot ice cream and the sea salt Carmel. The motor oil flavor was unique and delicious.
