I was lured in by generally positive reviews here on Unilocal, but I found the«BBQ» here very disappointing. I should have known something was wrong when I discovered that the«Texas BBQ» sandwich on the menu was pork. Texas, of all places, is synonymous with beef barbecue. Instead of the faux Texan, I opted for the beef choice: a «Smoked beef eye of round» sandwich. After an inexplicably long wait, I was presented with a pile of chewy, grey meat that had not obviously seen the inside of a smoker at any point. It was slathered in a bland, sweet ketchup that was presumably supposed to be BBQ sauce. This sandwich was to good, slow-smoked barbecue what a Subway Steak and Cheese is to an actual, savory cheesesteak. Overall, it was an underseasoned, disappointing sandwich that no place with«BBQ» in their name should be proud to serve. The broasted potato wedges were, however, pretty decent. I can’t speak for the other food at KD’s, which could well make the positive reviews justified. I do seriously wonder, though, about anyone who could say anything positive about the ‘cue here. The bland, tasteless version of «BBQ» I got could only be satisfying to young children and the elderly – people for whom any reasonable amount of salt, spice, or flavor would be overwhelming. Come to think of it, the clientele in the fairly busy dinner hour did seem to have a pretty high average age. 1.5 stars. I’ll round up because of the potato wedges.

We ate here once and simply thought little of the food, especially the bbq sauce. Won’t be back.

Kd’s has quite possibly the best broasted chicken in Dayton. Great service and very reasonable prices for the amount of food they serve you.

If they’re not careful, they are going to price themselves out of business. 8 Pieces of small chicken, raised from $ 12-something to $ 16-something…no sides or bread or even a thanks you. Considering that this includes two wings… OHMYWORD. This is chicken for goodness sakes… The flavor is good, but the sides are $ 2.25 each and if you think you’re getting a real side salad, I hope two pieces of lettuce fill you up! WE are willing to pay a lot of money for good food. Needless to say, we won’t be returning.

We went there on Valentine’s Day, they were very busy. The ribs, salad and broasted potato wedges were all very good. We had great service, the prices are reasonable, the dining area and restrooms were clean, the only thing I could see that would be a negative is the restaurant is small and it fills up rather quickly, overall a very good value and a very satisfying dining experience.

We dined in, having the cabbage rolls and pork sandwich. The green beans were amazing, just like grandma used to make. Mac n cheese was excellent as well. Sandwich was tastey, covered in BBQ sauce and cheddar and the cabbage rolls were definitely 5 stars. We plan on coming back, I’m going to get a full slab of ribs next time.

This place is wonderful!!! I can only get Broasted Chicken in one or two places in my territory and this one is my FAVORITE! Chicken is always succulent, tender and juicy! Hats off to KD’s!

We tried carry out from here and it was delicious. The mac & cheese, broasted chicken, and Texas BBQ sandwiches were all hits with our family. I also loved the house sweet and sour salad dressing. We will definitely be hitting it up again and adding it to our takeout rotation.

I love this place they absolutely have the best BBQ in Kettering ! Fast service. Clean establishment. Superb service !! Fresh homemade style food from people who care not too pricey. So if you love barbecue and have not been here you must go here ! The BBQ chicken is to die for. And it seems that all of their side items are homemade too. Just another added bonus to this already wonderful establishment.

The best place to eat in Kettering, Ohio and one of the best places to eat in Dayton. Everything is good and made from scratch. The owner often sits at the bar and keeps the good eats coming. The broasted chicken and pork chops are the best. The house salad dressing is fantastic and you MUST order the mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks aren’t the made in China, frozen, Applebee’s ‘cheese product’ garbage that you have been forced to accept for years. These are pure heaven, hand made and golden brown. It is worth driving to Kettering just for this appetizer.
